I'm not basing it on wishes. We have several rumour engines that have a distinctly FEC vibe which have turned out not to be for Cursed city. At this point I will be very surprised if FEC don't get at least a warcry warband.

I think we'll probably still get a soulblight second wave at some point. With new grave guard and perhaps also a vampire unit similar to the vykros blood born. So there's a chance the rumour engines could be those.

The youtubers have already received it so it should be on preview very soon!

Any gossip about the book you've heard yet? Weighing up whether to sell off my stonehorn army I'm just finishing up, while they're perhaps still worth something. (And no, I didn't bother to magnetise the heads)

*cough, cough - Cities of Sigmar - cough, cough* ;)

Here is what GW wrote in its July 2022 financial report about AoS :

We can only cross our fingers for bigger releases in 2023 and beyond... May Sigmar May Sigmar come to our aid with his brave human soldiers !

I find it hard to get excited about dawnbringers when I'm worried it will mean that most of my current army will get squatted.

Forgive me if I missed your sarcasm but I'm not so sure people who focus on the meta have a healthy approach to the hobby either; especially since it involves buying more things to follow it

I start a new army every week, have a wardrobe full of half-finished projects, haven't had a game of warhammer in nine years. Don't tell me I'm not having fun!

Speaking just for myself, the difference is what they do to my levels of anticipation. I love rumours specifically because they're unconfirmed. This makes them tantalising. 'Is it true? What if only part of it is?', etc. They help build the excitement.

Leaks are the opposite. If I know what's in a battletome, for example, then where's the excitement for the actual book? Part of the fun, again - for me, of new releases is the grand unveil. The surprise. Even as a kid, I have never ever tried to sniff out my Christmas presents in the house before Christmas. Why on earth would I ruin the unwrapping moment for myself?

So that's what I'm here for - rumours. Wild speculations. Preposterous projections. Letting the imagination loose on what _might_ be true. But without fully knowing ;)

Where do you draw the line? Is any reliable information you get before you have the book in your hand classed as a leak?

What about youtubers going through the book on preorder day? Are they leaking? If not, then what's the difference between that and getting some photos of warscrolls earlier in the week?

    Personally, I'd rather know earlier.

What (if any) rumours have we had about anything at all upcoming for Beasts of Chaos?

They said they'd be tweaking them in the latest meta watch, (which sounded like nerfs). But I assumed that was going to be a warscroll update. They're not on the release road map, so would be surprised if they get a new book soon

Ive always said a Dual kit Yehtee/Gorger kit would be incredible!!

The thing about not having decent yhetees and frostsabres is that the book becomes limited in building a viable army.

I'm convinced part of the reason we saw stonehorn spam in the last book was because very few people wanted to build an army with yhetees and cats.

Irongutzman did really well in tournaments with a yhetee-based winterbite army. I was thinking of doing the same, but I couldn't face having to buy and paint loads of those old minis.

Or else converting the army using rockgut troggoths and then having it invalidated a year later when they finally do update the yhetee miniatures.

Keeping those kits in their current weird limbo really limits choices

Maneaters are not only not plastic but can't even be purchased from GW anymore, they're all long gone.  Which makes them not getting new models slightly more of an issue than even yhetees for the moment.

Never seen them in a game, or thought to write a list with them. I don't actually think they're in the official app anymore. I can honestly see them going to legends along with other characters like firebellies and slaughtermasters.

I mean, it happened to Greasus Goldtooth, and he was one of the coolest minis in the range.

Meanwhile, both yhetees and frostsabres are conditional battleline. Butchers too are widely used.

I mean the range is ancient. GW needs to move beyond doing quick rules 'patches' for struggling armies, and work on updating these minis. How they can continue to sell stuff like gorgers is beyond me.

GIVE US MANEATERS GW I DEMAND IT.

Controversial point - but maneaters by virtue of being plastic, should not be the priority.

As a bloated scion of the everwinter though, I would eat brocoli for new yhetees and frost sabres.

How does this kit still exist?

On the topic of rumours/speculation, does anyone have any thoughts on what we might see in the balance warscroll whenever it comes? Seems like there's a few cases where point increases (Beasts of Chaos, Incarnate) or decreases (Kruelboyz) could have a fairly significant impact independent of any actual changes to rules.

No doubt there will be a herdstone nerf for beasts, perhaps a wholly within bubble rather than a global effect. They also mentioned 'one or two warscrolls' being bent, which is worrying really because nothing really jumps to mind.

  11. Sweepstakes for 2023 then, what are we expecting/hoping for?

Dawnbringers? Grungni? Chaos Dwarves? Malerion? Silent people? Kurnothi? Another lumineth book?!

    I'll go first:

    - soulblight update with grave guard and maybe a few other updated kits

    - beasts of chaos with a new shaggoth

    - OBR with archers

    - khorne with valkia

    - cities/dawnbringers

    - unlikely as it is to happen, I'd love a seraphon/skaven range refresh. I don't play either army, but some of those kits are ancient.

    - also in the realms of the highly unlikely, and highly controversial, I'd absolutely love to see Tyrion and his angel aelves. That would obviously mean another book though, and you know how the community is.

Can’t, their body heat and rage causing them to breath fire, smoke and sparks burns all that stuff right up.

Gotrek has trousers! He at least wouldn't be caught dead in a thong.

I'll relisten to the audiobook, but I don't remember his trousers falling off when he powered up with grimnir's rune.

And yeah. Their heros are all decent, by virtue of their luxurious beards, as you've proven by the pictures above. But it's when you start painting the rank and file, the vulkites etc, when you realise how surreal it all is.

Anyway, I'll stop before grudges start being written.

Concerning fyreslayers and also coming from an outsiders perspective (destro & death here) would a "redo" help like how the stormcast recently had their overhaul? It helped them and made it so both male and female were represented.

Absolutely. Just primaris the whole range. People have been whaling on OBR, and while I agree with them, fyreslayers are a million times worse.

I actually started painting a fyreslayers army as a sort of retinue for Gotrek when he was released. But I gave up after a couple of units.

I just couldn't make them look cool. No matter what unique skin tones you use, you're effectively just painting a chubby little baby in a medieval nappy with a ridiculous haircut.

At this stage, might as well just redo the whole range. At the very least give them trousers, for pity's sake.

Oh snappiest of the snaps, got a whitefang like!!

Heard that means a bit a something round these parts.

Or, they just liked what I had to say. 😒

    😄

    El Comillo Blanco strikes again...

New Black Knight kit then. Better sell the 30 I just bought from ebay. Charge of the wight brigade will have to wait.

But can you stop the cavalry?

But because AoS now has so many interlocking systems: grand strategies, battle tactics, battalions, GHB specific rules, and the whole Gelato Vet thing...it's too much to remember and prepare for.

This 100%. Part of the reason why I haven't had a game of third edition yet, and have largely drifted away from the hobby.

AoS was always for me a beer and pringles game. Something to play while drunk and enjoying big swingy dice rolls.

I don't need to feel like I'm playing four dimensional chess, having to remember dozens of other rules.

I'm not saying there shouldn't be some battletomes that cater to the more cerebral types, but having the entire core rules on like a four page pamphlet was a massive plus for me at least.
