The only reason why GW can't and won't do as many updates as a videogame dev is because unlike with videogames GW has no way to collect even close to the same amount of data. All they can get are lists and results from tournaments and the occasional playtests, both which don't happen multiple times a day every day.
Plus the number of "THIS IS OP!" scares that turned out to be nonsense 2 months later is too damn high.

Just make everyone use the app for warscrolls. Update the app. Thats it. Announce larger changes just like FAQs right now.
Yeah this is the most retrograde thing GW currently do. It's crazy we still need to buy print books for all this stuff. I love the printed books and buy a lot of battletomes for armies I don't collect, but they have to get a proper app that has all rules required, always up-to-date, and give free access to faction rules when you buy the physical book. They're years behind here and I don't know why. If a single dude can make AoS Reminders (check it out here if you don't know what it is!), why can't GW make an app that does exactly the same thing??
It would be great to bring a tablet to a game as the only thing you need. I know you can currently do this, but it's literally a PDF of the printed book, which is not at all an efficient way to find rules.

people man, if we could just get rid of people this game would be a lot more chill.
If you tasked a super-intelligent being with creating a balanced game, it would first remove humans.

I think there's an issue in the community where we rely on GW for perfect balance in order to have good games. That's not going to happen. Instead of bemoaning this all the time, find a community or group that don't meta chase constantly.
The issue is the people you play with, not the balance. We have a great community of seriously competitive players, none of whom play Slaanesh. If you play with a group of people who's only interest is winning at all costs, you'll have a miserable experience. AoS can provide really great games, but you need a player who buys into the same mindset. If you're having a miserable time, change the group or the people you play with. This is by nature a socially interactive game- the player on the other side of the table will make or break your experience. GW can't control that.

This is discussed a lot. I think the premise is wrong in the first place. For balance, you need to have 2 forces with identical rules played on a symmetrical table. The second you introduce any variation in rules or profiles, balance is out the window. There will always be rock/paper/scissors and there will always be armies that do better in the current meta than others. And with AoS there is such a huge variety of armies and models, i don't think it's even theoretically possible to balance.
I think GW are doing a decent job at maintaining a general balance for a good chunk of armies. People have beaten Slaanesh. It is possible to beat. They are powerful right now, but how long will that last?
Regarding the designers "putting effort into balancing the game"- i think they do, but GW has always been about models and selling models. AoS had no points when it launched. The serious competitive side is still quite a new thing for GW and AoS.

Well thanks to Warcry I am dipping my toes into the FEC and I ordered a start collecting box.
The more I read about the army overall, the more interested I am in stepping outside of my Nurgle comfort zone and trying something that's faster and more damaging for games of AoS as well. I see a lot of suggestions and recommendations for full size 2000 point lists but does anyone have any good current recommendations for a smaller 1000 point or so force for Meeting Engagements or smaller games of AoS to be able to use my Warcry stuff in a full AoS game as well?
I have a Infernal Courtier and Ghast Courtier already and a SC box is on the way but that's it
(Just a thousand points.. that's all... isn't that what we always tell ourselves in the beginning? 😆)
As a Nurgle and FEC player, welcome!
If you can get an Arch-Regent, get one. They gotta release it in a blister soon...i hope.

Does match play rules allow for Slaves to Darkness battalions to be taken as part of a Nurgle allegiance army?
I don't believe so- it was FAQd in AoS 1 so that Plaguetouched (Everchosen) could not count.

They're definitely 32mm bases. Regular Skeletons on 25mm are nearly touching the side of the bases when they're in a wide pose. These are skeletons on steroids and they sit comfortably inside the base.

OK! Well that was completely unexpected.
I participated in the 36 player RTT at NOVA yesterday. Ended up going 3-0, coming in 1st overall and winning the damn thing! Came in 4th for battle points.
Top four for battle points were: Daughters of Khaine, Slaanesh, Slaanesh, Nurgle (me), and FEC (feast day).
My games were great. First was against Matt Obringer from BWG group in PA. VERY competitive group. Mission was scorched earth. He played a skaven list, with like this CP generating farm using Thaanquol's command (that gives three heros the ability to use the generic commands for free), and then the verminus allegiance ability to get a cp back on a 5+, the brooch, and the master manipulator trait. So every time Thaanqoul would use his command, he could potentially get 16 CP generated!! Then the clawlord goes nuts with his command giving +1 attack using all those CP (because its uncapped). Luckily for me his rolls were poo and he left the stormvermin unscreened. Marauders with blades crashed into them and took them out. I took the lead and just summoned to zone out and didnt yield any ground.
Second game was against a DOPE nighthaunt list. The type of list I would play if I played nighthaunt. LOTS of bladegeist revenants. 30 of them. 30 grimghasts, some chain rasps, shroud guard battalion, reikenor, dreadblade harrows, and knight of shrouds. On total commitment so I lucked out there. I butt rushed him with the marauders on an objective guarded by chain rasps. He attacked my weak flank with the 30 grimghasts. I left only 10 unsupported kings (hubris) and they murdered them. I countered with 10 fully buffed kings and took them out in one go. Rolling 11 6's on 30 attacks will do that o_O. He had a hail mary at the end with 5 bladegiests on a 9" charge on festus guarding my home objective but rolled an 8 for the charge with no cp.
Last game on table 1 was against a thunderquake star host seraphon list on Three places of power. OOOOF tough matchup. Two bastillions ran up and parked in front of the objective, flanked by terrain. Engine of the gods and Slaan moved behind them onto the objectives. I thought the game was over then and there. I took the third objective, and tried my damndest to best those bastiladon to death and break through. COULDN'T. Tried outflanking with gutrot and charging the slaan. Finally hacked through the skink wall, made it to the slaan, started working on him.. until the rippers swooped in and got him. Ended up finishing off the Slaan with stage 6 cycle. Festus dispelled his balewind and ran over there. Took a bastiladon solar beam to the face. survived. managed to SOMEHOW claw my way back to tie him on VP's. And since the only unit he killed was gutrot (one blightking of ten had ONE wound left HAH) I took the minor win.
Looking forward to the GT on Saturday.
Amazing! This makes it hard for me to moan about Nurgle not being top tier 😝

The mortarch is definite top 5 GW models ever for me. It's going to be hard to not make these dudes my next army.

So I might be getting back into playing Nurgle properly now, mostly inspired by @sal4m4nd3r's posts! I used to play Daemon or Mix, but I like the mortal builds here. What are people's opinions on 30 bestigors with blades (along with 3 units of BKs)? 60 attacks with blades giving mortal wounds on a 5 seems insanely good?

Is SCE OP?
in Warcry
We've already started our warcry league and Ironjawz and Iron Golem are head and shoulders above in the first dozen or so games. I bet that's not the case by the end.

Went 3-0 at that RTT in Fredericksburg Virginia over the weekend! Got first place and best single model as well for the epitome! After the ITC scores get updated, I should be the number one ranked Nurgle player, and 26th overall. Quite pleased with that! Top nurgle player and top 20 overall ITC is my goal for this season.

Amazing! Well done! Wonder how it would do in the UK meta...

Is SCE OP?
in Warcry
I'd say it's a littttttle early to start the usual "X is OP" discussion. Give it a month before it settles down. There's counters to everything. Ranged attacks need line of sight and that should be easy enough to deny in Warcry if you're playing with the usual amount of terrain (and don't draw one of those sparse battlefield setup cards...)

Yeah its not actually in the lore of nurgle section. it like an aside to the lore of nurgle, that every "nurgle wizard" knows.
Hmmm, i guess RAW it's not, but (with the caveat i don't have the book in front of me) i would say RAI it's not that clear?? Don't mind either way but it is a sort of vital spell for us to not get a bonus to cast!

Our one days use this:
Triumph bonuses will be used as per the Triumph table (p56) in General’s Handbook 2019.
Endless spells will be allowed as per Malign Sorcery Rules.
Realm Artefacts will be allowed and Realm Spells will be allowed.
Forge World models are allowed.
Objectives used do not have height or size for rules purposes.
Proxies, conversions and 3rd party models will be allowed but must
clearly represent the warscroll.
Firestorm allegiance and abilities will be used.
Forbidden Power allegiances will be used. For Realmscape features, I ran a series of 3 one day tournaments that used them, but pre-determined for each of the three games. Ultimately, if you know in advanced, you can't complain, and I only selected the most neutral ones.
In our one-dayers, we don't have painting rules- there's one a month and they're there as a relaxed tournament for people to have fun and/or test out new builds.
Terrain rules used at player's discretion (agreed before battle, rolled for).
I would say our AoS community is fantastic- although they're very competitive (or some are) they're not WAAC types. I've never had an issue with a player and disagreements so far. Only on our 2 day GT did we have an issue with not finishing games- I usually say "theory out to 5 turns" but with certain builds that doesn't work. If I do another 2 day GT, I will use a rule along the lines of "If a player does not finish 2 or more games, they will get a 50pt penalty" or something similar.

Keep in mind that the bonus to cast from 1000 poxes tome DOESNT extend to Foul regenesis (spell to move the wheel) because it isn't in the Lore of Nurgle.
One last opinion you didnt ask for.. 10 bestigors isnt projecting much power. assuming they charged and are attacking ten plus models, and all ten make it into combat against a unit with 4+ saves they will do 4 damage on average. And with a bravery of 6, they will crumble against almost any counter attack. And would it be worth a CP to save (lets say) 3-4 bestigors from fleeing..especially if you have 2 of those 3 units in combat.. IMO no. But it IS worth a CP to save 7-10 from fleeing if they are all in a big unit! JUST my opinion. have fun trying out all sorts of combos with pestilent THONG (hah) and report back ASAP!!!!
Wut. I've always added +1 to that spell........dayum

Ben Johnson was asked in the Warcry Whatsapp chat and he said he would try and sort it out. There's currently a Necromunda and Kill Team one i think so it should be up there soon.

How do I beat maggotkin?
in Death
Posted
As a Nurgle player who has moved on to other armies because I find them too difficult to win games with, maybe i can help? anything -1 to hit will turn off blightkings as their exploding hits activate on a "6+", not "unmodified roll of 6" as such abilities are usually phrased for all newer battletomes. You should have a few -1 to hit spells I think with legions?
Nurgle have no casting/unbinding bonuses save for a GUO with bileblade and an artefact, and their most powerful spells are mortal ones which have no access to casting bonuses at all- should mean they're easy to dispel?
So here's a sort of gameplan -
The Blightkings' FNP is from a Harbinger of Decay- kill that off as a priority with ranged spells.
Cast -1 to hits on Blightkings/the units they will be targeting. If successul you can pretty much ignore them as a damage dealing unit.
If he's playing with plaguebearers- they're resilient but have no damage output, so tag them in combat as far away from objectives as you can and leave them to slowly whittle down your unit. You don't need to remove them from the table, just keep them away from objectives!
With your list building- take a hero (Arkhan) with cast/dispel bonuses to shut down the ranged mortal wound output- it is Nurgle's biggest strength and can do enough damage over two turns to remove all of your 5-7 wound heroes. Take minus to hit spells to shut down blightkings. And even better, take a battalion to outdrop him to prevent that turn 1 sprint across the board that nurgle can do with the +3" move GUO and run/charge combo.
As always- priorities are important- you don't need to kill the GUO- they're mediocre spellcasters with little or no bonus to cast and zero close combat damage output. (Funny saying this, I remember when the updated warscroll came out, there was outrage that they could cast 2 spells for their cost!). You should prioritise dispelling, not killing the GUOs/Rotigus . You will need to kill the Warshrine (probably giving a 6+ FNP?) and the Harbinger of Decay (GIving a 5+ FNP) as a priority and engage the blightkings only when they have a -1 to hit activated.
