Do you really need a hero that rolls a die for each nearby unit at the start of the hero phase, causing d3 mortal wounds on a 6, summoning a spawn if one or more models are killed? Because that's what morghurs ability would look like in age of sigmar.

I was referring more to abilities that enable us to summon spawns (either CA or spells)

Your interpretation of the old rule looks very accurate but it can be changed in other ways? and yeah I remember that rule in the old days. For sure if I am changing enemy models or Ungors for a/some spawns I am fine with it. But again the rule can be anything not just the transposition of the old Morghur's old rule into AoS.

And yeah I think it will be fluff-y having a mutagenous force rampaging through the battlefield pulsating chaos energy, although I was talking more about direct abilities to summon spawns like the magic in Total War Warhammer.

Sure they will give us a Battalion with monsters I was actually counting on that. We will have tons of monsters and not doing something like that will just be illogical (at least to me)

A weird thought came to me, are Chaos Spawn still going to be in? Sure they may not be the most beloved unit for beasts, but they have also always been there even in the beastmen shift.

I d love to see something that enable us to summon or create some Spawns like it was Morghur profile back in 7th/8th

  3.

Everything that now has a BL if will still get BL if a part from maybe the Bestigor and ungor raiders which to be honest atm are not really intent as BL even if you play Brayherd allegiance (at least for me, the thing is that if you play Brayherd possibly you are playing the Battalion and that include some unit that already are BL as stat).

What I really hope is that they gave us one profile for melee attack with "horns and hooves". It is illogical to me that if your nature is to kill and you have (naturally) a pair of BIG ****** HORNS on your head, you don t use them to, at least try and kill your foes. something like 4+ 4+ -1 1 (maybe 2 dmg?) so it s hard to hit but they can deal some dmg if the attack goes through.

Since Tzaangors seem to be in, do you think they'll be worth taking? They seem to be an upgrade over Bestigors despite the higher cost. Skyfires also look like a good deal to get good shooting and MW into the herd.

I see a Battalion been made up for us to use Tzaangors as BOC allegiance as in they already belong to another faction and if you wanna play them why not playing DOT? but a part from that I don t see a massive focus on singular chaos gods as it was in 6th WHFB.

Nontheless, tzaangoors are a good hammer and can do a great deal of dmg. I see some MSU running around like bullets againts focal targets like a wizard or a Bloodsecrator/slaughterpriest or a skaven warlord (granted they can go pass 120 clanrats).

  5.

The monsters that might make it in I think won t be many. Jabber maybe the chimera but it has always been a woc monster. Pumba-gor might make it it will be interesting if they allow units of them like the chariots. Not sure on centigors as the sculpt are pretty old and costly and unless they rearrange the warscroll A LOT no army will ever include them. I am kinda convinced we will have to say goodbye to those fellas. We sort of know chaos warhound are in the book as the pics show them. Other than that... No clue

I wonder if there are any plans to make new Slaangor, Khornegor and Pestigor... Even if it's only at rules level (run and charge, pile in 6", Disgustingly resilient or something like that) with a future update in next Battletomes.

The article specifies we will be able to mix Tzaangors so maybe now that Slaanesh comes out (and with he pestigor coming out for Blood Bowl maybe we can hope for those too) we will be able to have some unit with marks, although I will have to make up my mind on whether I like marks or not for us.

I would love to see Moonclaw back. I know it didn't even have a miniature, but for some reason I though it was really cool.

I think if there is one model they will oew us is Morghur. He is literally The undying, he cannot be killed as he incarnate the purest of the essence of chaos therefore can be recluded when weak but not killed.

But still can youguys believe it?!?!?! WE ARE GONNA HAVE ABILITIES AND ARTIFACTS AND MAGIC AND BAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Hey,  I remember Forums! :) Recording Warhammer Weekly last night and found out about the lovely news of goats with "dark looks." Shared my hopes with the hosts on the show but I can't wait to make my Warherd easier to play and with an event prize gift card I picked up yet another Bloodfeast Gorgers allies box (now cleaned out that FLGS). Me thinks a third Cygor will join the Herd and I really needed that Bullgor kit with command sprue to finish up the force. I'm not hyper competitive but here's what I played last 2 games as I forgot the endless spells the first time (thus had 2 CP starting) but last game was very successful and used:

    Allegiance: Chaos

    Leaders
    Great Bray Shaman (100)
    - Allies
    Doombull (120)
    - General
    - Great Axe
    - Trait: Lord of War
    Doombull (120)
    - Pair of Axes

    Battleline

    Units
    6 x Bullgors (320)
    - Pairs of Axes
    3 x Bullgors (160)
    - Axes & Bullshields
    6 x Bullgors (320)
    - Great Axes

    Behemoths
    Jabberslythe (140)
    - Allies
    Cygor (180)
    Cygor (180)
    Ghorgon (200)

    Endless Spells
    Chronomantic Cogs (60)
    Aethervoid Pendulum (40)

    Total: 1940 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 240 / 400
    Wounds: 133

Half way through the show need to finish watching it and very happy to see a Beastmen enthusiast on it (if they are really announcing the BT I cannot wait for next episode to come out)!! I heard you talking about this list (and the models you bouhgt like me...man I m enjoyng those models!!) and I would really like to try out something like that at some point. What artifact are you using? we were discussing about the possibility to have two very good option in weapons one being the Demon blade from chaos GA (MW on 6+ to wound) the other being the claw from realm of beasts (+2 dmg on 6+ to wound). I normally play with the Crown of Command when I play chaos GA but with minos I think it will be a wasted slot: so did you find one artifact particularly useful with this list or do you see many possibilities being viable?

Could the "suspicious goats" poster be a potential brayherd shadespire warband instead of a full release? We know new warbands are incoming, so that might be what that is aimed at. Darkoath/beastmen would make sense too.

I said it too many times but if they make a Brayherd/Beastmen faction for Shadespire I ll start play shadespire, end of the story!!

Nontheless, THIS GOAT RELEASE HAS TO VE FOR AOS!!!!!!!

Yes it make sense a combined Darkoatg release but as the rumors say they are not gonna release more models for them they might very well just do a flash release like last year s 40k releases where all the races got updated to the rules but no models came out.

  10. More than alpha strike I would call it burst dmg vs sustained dmg from sisters. I think we did the math back when ghb2018 came out and realised GG are actually not our main dmg sourse anymore as after bodkins is used they are pretty much a tickle to enemy units. Also the - 3 is useful against heavy armour units while sisters are better in all other situations granted they can trigger their ability.

I guess one big unit of GG you still need to field it but no more than that? Though I guess it comes down to player preferences but the fact we cannot move as easily as we did in 2017 and the big footprint change things a bit.

STD sell, Bretonnia ant TK (alongside some of the WE kits) were not selling anymore.

If resin will go with Darkoath/Beastmen release they will have to replace a lot of stuff like the Beastlords, one shaman (old Malagor), the doombull and the chariot: all things that (as far as I know) sell quite well (not saying they are best sellers just that they sell enough). If then they will indeed discontinue those we...I was wrong.

there are more waves for Deepkin, Sylvaneth and someone else

I am quite sure some week ago someone mentioned Ironjawz too and at this point seen ORKtober maybe we will see some new Ironjawz goodies there.

Out of curiosity...let's say there are more waves of Sylvaneth. Would that mean a new Battletome? Same with Deepkin. If some new units came out, would there be a new Battletome? So soon?

Well if we follow the philosophy GW always had with SCE we HAVE TO expect another Battletome for those armies which are receiving new models. My personal logic sees the two situation as being identical and needing therefore the same reaction (if SCE get new models they get new BT, ergo if other factions get new models they HAVE TO receive a new BT).

I've found the Claw of Anraheir with a great axe Doombull to be a bit overkilly. If I'm getting additional attacks off, whatever it's fighting normally evaporates anyway.

Going to try the Amber Glaive out this weekend. +1 hit on the Doombull sounds spicy.

yeah if your attacks go in 3 dmg are normally enough to do very nasty amount of dmg. I think the Claw is better oon something that has more attacks like the 2 HW one as you have more chances to pass some to Hit rolls. That said though Claw is good if you plan to slam you doombull against a big low armour unit while if you plann on exploding charaheters Great Axe and demon blade from GA Chaos Allegiance I find it best.

the +1 to hit is juicy and that was my point in taking the Lord of  War trait when it still was 3+. Now that they nerfed it (AGAIN), 50-50 chance I believe is not reliable enough. So maybe the Amber Glaive makes it juicy again.

Realm of Beasts, use the Claws of Anrahier on a Doombull with 2 HWs.  5 attacks and 6+ is a bonus 2 dmg.  Since he'll generate bonus attacks on a 5+, he seems like a good utility tool

The 2 HW option already deals 2 dmg per wound, doed that artifact double them then, or just add 2 dmg (I am at work cannot check right now and don't remember)? Which Allegiance is he using? Because with the same idea why not using the Demonblade from the artifact of GA Chaos? it deal 2 MW on 6+ to wound (which becomes 5+ witht the CA) IN ADDITION to normal dmg. I used it on a Great Axe Doombull once and a signle charge managed to explode a Lord-Celestant on Dracoth, I did soooo much dmg (I rolled high but not massively high and then my doombull died as he hed only one wound left and between all the saves he had to roll he passed one and bounced a MW back on me which was the last one the Doombull had left?. The guy could not believe what just happened. From that moment on my Doombull is in the Hall of fame of my gaming group)

The other thing about his list is MSU 3-bullgor units.  I've been a fan of this for a while.  I know people like 6-12 man units for bodies but lacking reach I feel 2 x 3 units vs the enemy is a better option than a single 6 man unit.

I cannot figure the advantage of it, can you explain what is your thought behind it? How do you use them?

  16. So I posted one list back in the pages but then I realized I could sqeeze in something deadlier so re-counting, this is what I play:

    Allegiance: Chaos

    LEADER

Great Bray Shaman (100)- General- Command Trait : Malicious Conqueror

Great Bray Shaman (100)- Artefact : Crown of Conquest

    Doombull (120)- Pair of Axes

    UNITS

    10 x Ungors (60)-Mauls & Half-Shields

    10x Ungors (60)-Mauls & Half-Shields

    10 x Ungors (60)-Mauls & Half-Shields

    30 x Bestigors (300)

    30 x Bestigors (300)

    6 x Bullgors (320)-Great Axes

    BEHEMOTHS

    Cygor (180)

    Cygor (180)

    Jabberslythe (140)

    1930/2000

This is the idea is to target wizards with the rocks and make them hide and I hide the Jabber up untill I can jump on the hittiest of my enemy s unit. Meanwhile I charge the bulky stuff in to hold my opponent where it is.

If you prefer more magic you can play around with points like take a cygor and fit a shaman and some enldess spell or you play 30 gor instead of one unit of bestigor, you can play around  you have room for adjustments.

Going to be coming into some brayherd soon, basically enough to run a Wildstalker battalion plus a Ghorgon.

My question is what is their win condition? I play primarily Maggotkin, which is attrition and mortal wounds flying around, and Beastclaw, which is a massive alpha to break the back of your opponent... but what do Brayherd do to win?

Also what’s the point of a Herdstone if everything is ambushing in around board?

    Thanks in advance!

Very good question my furry and horned friend.

First of all BAAAHHHH and welcome to the Herd!

    1) Brayherd win conditions are multiple depending on what you want/like to play. If your aim is attrition like your Nurgle army you NEED to flood the board with bodies. Put on the table as many as you can get on objectives and stick on it, and if a unit dies, send another one in (also to accomplish the same amount f MW you do with Nurgle you might wanna take some Endless spells)!!!! If instead you wanna be more flexible you could play goat/monsters mixed chaos with less models but maybe more deadly than just a grown-up ram. I am talking either Ghorgons or Jabberslythes and maybe have the bulk of your army being Bestigors instead of gors or ungors. Here though you will have to play a little bit smarter as some army will be able to just wipe you off the board in a couple of turn without you being able to deal any wound (Jabber is 10 wound and does not do much unless it gets to combat and ghorgons when they start loosing wounds are less effective very quickly).

    2) With 2.0 the Herdstone has lost some of its potential and now can be used in different way than before (due to the changes to terrains now having a shorter range of action therefore taking less space on he battlefield; although now you can place it in the middle of the field while before you had to put it close to the general); as a persona preference I play mixed Chaos (either because I have some custom models I like to play and because I don't particularly like the allegiance anymore: artifacts are not appealing and if I want to ambush I just need to fulfill the requirements of the Battalion and there you go).

    Hope that was useful.

This is why I stopped answering. At some point the topic goes to "I am right you are wrong". No one here is trying to overcome the other; can I put on a ** - NON-EXISTING Mod Hat - ** (I am not a MOD?) and ask everybody to respect other people opinion without mocking and bring back down the conversation to "friendly"? ?

I can see there  is a lot of fire around the topic as some more than other understand (or gave for granted) the business-y nature of GW. Other people don't or refuse to believe this is the case and those have the right to express their opinion.

Please let's tune it down guys; we can do it, we are the ones that refused the toxic talks of WHFB during its decadent period, don't let that come back.?

  19. It is Chaos related for sure but I am not totally convinved. Chaos Dwarves are a Forgeworld exclusive and it would be odd for GW to release something they do not sell directly anymore. It might be a referment to an old spell Chaos dwarves use to be able to cast back in the days (4th/5th ed) but still be a Realm of Chaos related Endless Spell (maybe they will introduce another Mortal realm: Chaos and that spell get enhanced when casted in a game playied in the realm of Chaos). Maybe they will bring Minotaurs shamans to AoS (we have the Ogroid alerady so I can see a Warherd one) in the darkoath faction and that is the Endless spell they get to cast. Or maybe darkoath/brayherd is indeed coming out and this is the spirit of Taurox that get summoned by the shamans and sorcers in the faction.

Thank god(...ehhmm, I mean Khorne, thank Khorne) this one at least has got hooves instead of mutated feet (horrible....blah)

Guys, drop back to earth!!! Did we got in only 7 month for AoS: nurgle, LoN, DoK, ID, AoS 2, SCE 2, NH, Magic? ho lalalala so few things for AoS!!

I'm just hopping that we get so few things in the next 6 month....

    I m gonna quote myself:

"I am not complaining about everything GW did this year (which it as been great), just a bit disappointed as I was expecting more consideration for AoS."

So mine was just a singular expression of light disappointment toward what I see as a dispartity in consideration toward the two systems. I know we had a lot of releases but 40k too and comparing to last year AoS and 40k releases the ratio is still in favour of 40k (40k had its factions almost all updated while we were getting shadespire and now they are still updating while we get some new stuff) .

That said LONG LIVE GW AND AOS and may them live long and prosper!!!!!

Was surprised they didn't do wolves and Stealers codex in the same week, but a one week wait isn't unreasonable. That would make sense as then it just leaves orks in Orktober and means they don't leave Stealers sitting there twiddling their claws/tentacles/fingers/appendages

No, GW already said that GSC are giong to be released after Orks.

I am surprised GW keeps making important releases for 40k and holding back AoS considering 2017 has already been the year of 40k and very few AoS releases happened. I was expecting 2018 to be (almost) fully AoS and instead the second half it seems we are getting very few things (now it looks like Darkoath is being pushed back due to change of schedule again) compared to 40k. I am not complaining about everything GW did this year (which it as been great), just a bit disappointed as I was expecting more consideration for AoS.

Does Alarielle still do that?  I thought Ariel did and that was in the Old World.

Morghur would be nice.  I used him in a tournament at the end of 6th ed with a bunch of Khorne stuff, and then someone terrorbombed me which I hadn't been prepared for.  So not Morghurs best outing.

Well, my point was not that Alarielle still does it (which I don't know) but that she did it, and Morghur ALWAYS did it as part of his fluff and making him come back now in AoS would make him, first of all, immortal one more time and then so unique (a he would pass the barriers of a scenario changing event like End Times) that it would just bring back that lost flavor for Beastmen. He does not have to be the most OP character in the game, he just need to re-define immortality.

    It would be nice.

Will the additional realm spells be used?

If so, something like this maybe?

    Allegiance: Brayherd

    Leaders
    Beastlord (90)
    - Man-ripper Axe & Brayshield
    Great Bray Shaman (100)
    Great Bray Shaman (100)
    Great Bray Shaman (100)

    Battleline
    30 x Bestigors (300)
    20 x Ungor Raiders (160)

    Units
    3 x Tuskgor Chariots (180)
    3 x Bullgors (160)
    - Great Axes
    - Allies

    Total: 1190 / 1250
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 160 / 200

60 points remaining for extra command point, some endless spells or send on 10 x Ungors for another unit.

If realm spells aren't being used and you dont take any endless spells then maybe drop one shaman for some more troops.

@The_Yellow_SignIdk if I like the beastlord and the bullgors might feel slightly underwelming without the CA from the doombull. Why not playing the doombull only instead of those two? He is 8W instead of 12 but it s more hidable and he gets the - 1 to be hit so he gets into combat pretty ez (at least mine always do). I d drop one shaman anyway as Devolve is pretty niche spell and maybe thinking of bringing one endless spell (I like the idea of the palissade as you can protect your army more from shooting and you can cut your opponent off in some ways).

Not really sure on which are the limitations for list building at the tournament but you might need to add one more BL.

Oh, Iike the Jabberslythe too, soooo much dmg!!!!
