Which 1/3 of the Parch are we thinking is going under?

Anvilgard being destroyed in a bit of universal spite towards Morathi would be hilarious.

So much of the Great Parch going nuclear makes me a bit more optimistic we'll see a second Fyreslayer wave, particularly as it's a good excuse to have Robo-Bael in the fore.

Dang, now I know how Destruction players who were optimistic about Era of the Beast felt...

AoS would be worse off without the double. Without a doubt - those who dislike it are usually ones who refuse to play around it

My problem with Double Turn is that it's been the quickest way to turn people off the game. You mention it to potential new players and you can see the interest drain from their face once they're reminded it exists.

It's continued inclusion also feels antithetical to AoS being pushed as more of a casual, relaxed, easier-to-get-into game; people will list those features as a great, low barrier to entry, and then with the next breath insist that Double Turn is awesome because it's this super in-depth tactical mechanic you always need to be worried about and playing against ahead of time and you'll totally get used to it after playing the game for months... which feels antithetical to the other points, or at least it comes off that way even if the reality is murkier.

You’re sad because battle tactics are still a thing.

I’m happy because double turn is taking a big warranted nerf.

Honestly with how they keep nerfing it every edition, it becomes increasingly clear that Double Turn is somebody important's baby and they just refuse to allow it to finally be removed outright.

Do you think the model mondays will be reserved for the new starter set? Full reveal of the box will probably happen 1 month from now, so 4 weeks of lesser reveals from starter box seems like some good teasers to keep us interested.

Iirc that's what happened with Leviathan, so it seems a reasonable bet.

On top of all that, there are modular rules, plenty more opportunities for reactivity in your opponent’s turn via an updated system of command points and abilities, and a ton of tweaks and refinements – not least to the double turn, which has been fine-tuned into a knife-edge decision with a clever twist to scoring. Put simply, it is the best edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar yet.

Still not Alternating Activations then? Gutted. I thought the AoS team would be the ones to finally break the mould for the mainline games.

  6. Thane With Shieldbearers looks fantastic, but I am somewhat surprised he's plastic after O&G only got resin. Not that I'm complaining. It's a very good glowup on what was an old model.

    Ungrim looks fantastic.

Pleased to see the Doomseekers finally return. I was very surprised about the Goblin-Hewer. I know we all predicted it, but since neither of those are in the Forces of Fantasy list that pretty much confirms a Slayer Cult Army of Renown.

The Battalion box is interesting. Good starting point for newcomers, but I did expect them to mix it up a little with Hammerers or Ironbreakers. Two Gyrocopters Jeremy? That's insane.

Horus Heresy was full box reveal + extras and the trailer (probably because it got leaked a year before :D).

And 10th 40k was 2 Terminators and 2 Tyranids, some extra info and the trailer.

Even though everybody knew about the 30k box, it was just the trailer at Adepticon (I only remember because everybody was surprised when the cat had been out of the bag for so long). The official full boxset was at WarhammerFest a month or so later.

I am hoping we see the full set at tonight though, at least if there's no plans for another Online WarhammerFest (there might be, but who knows), however I've got my senses set to Cynic this time.

Is it wrong to expect disappointment? I'm assuming we'll see a rat and a stormcast as per last year's adepticon reveals plus a trailer.

With darkoath being shown early I'm not sure much will be seen. Happy to be wrong but tempering expectations seems a better way to avoid disappointment.

In 2022 they showed the Horus Heresy cinematic trailer at AdeptiCon and nothing else. In 2023 they did something similar with 40k (Primaris Lieutenant and the one Tyranid wasn't it?), so yeah, I think it's a safe bet we'll just see the cinematic and maybe 1-2 individual models, but no full set. It's possible the leaked photos may have spooked them a bit into revealing a little more than 30k or 40k saw at their new edition announcements though.

I reckon with Darkoath accidentally leaked, we'll probably see at least a few things from Dawnbringers VI, but maybe not everything?

WAIT A SECOND! Do you smell it? It is the smell of a resolved Rumour Engine! it could be TOW then rather than my first Votann guess.

EDIT: And the lower bit of the shadow. The shield. It is indeed the new TOW model, so the RE engine we saw was the first ever TOW RE.

Oh yeah that's 100% TOW Dwarfs. We've known a King With Shieldbearers was coming from the greatly increased base size and it specifying three-models are carrying him rather than the old model's two.

Grombrindal likely to be plastic? They might save him for a later reveal.. but I'm hopeful!

Based on the Bretonnian/TK/O&G characters thus far all being resin, I reckon Grombrindal would be as well - even if a plastic AoS version appears in the near future (ALA the resin/plastic divide between 30k and 40k Primarchs).

I know I mentioned this in the main thread, but I'm really curious about what armies of infamy we will get. Karak-Kadrin seems a given, but they can surprise us with the second one.

I also expect to see Thorgrim as a prince, having adventures around the (old) world, most likely in resin. And of course the King on Shield, something that at this point will surprise no one.

A Zhufbar/Engineering Guild/Exiles list with an emphasis on their 'modern' creations seems like a good bet. In the case of the latter, it could also put a focus on Rangers in addition to the gizmos and gadgets.

For resin characters, maybe a new Grombrindal? I suspect we'll get at least one named female Queen/Thane as well.

High King Alriksson I think they'll save for the inevitable Great War Against Chaos book, though I'd be happy to be wrong.

The other way around. You have fewer points on the table than in the previous edition, so you need more minis to fill 2000 points.

To echo Ragest, that probably happened due to wargear costs going away.

I also think GW is also more leery of cynically trying to 'milk' bigger armies out of AoS players, just because the tolerance of non-40k communities for those kind of things tends to be lesser when there's not hundreds of thousands of committed Marine players to shore up any missteps.

  13. Rivals of the Mirrored City seems to be sold out most of the bigger places, including Warhammer.com. I know the most likely scenario is that GW produced like ten boxes total, but I was surprised to see it vanish so quickly, especially compared to the Tau Kroot Army Set.
