Morathi being a Hero and Monster vs. Cauldrons and Shrines now losing Look Out, Sir! does feel like another big swing towards taking Morathi rather than not now.

275 for a wizard for my Living City who can cast Verdant Blessing makes me smile.

Awesome, he’s gonna look amazing in a nicely painted City army, make sure you post up some photos when he’s done.

Dear God why would you put her in solo vs a big hammer unit? Unless you were trying to finish the game early so you could go get a beer.

It’s a good point, so obviously you’re screening, but 6 eels, Sentinels, Morathi bow snakes could pin cushion her or blast her in pretty short order regardless of the quality of your screens because of range / fly etc. Not much fun taking a god to have to hide her in the back corner because she’s squishy. Super happy to eat my words but I’m not convinced.

  5. Doesn’t look like Alarielle has an after-save which is a massive negative. You can have all the heals in the world but a 3+ won’t allow you to survive a single phase against many of the big hammer units in the current meta, never mind a double while you wait for your next hero phase. You can just nuke her off and then you’re sat with an underpowered ~1200 points sitting on the table. It’s grim.

Flute guy looks like hot garbage. Of all the amazing things you could do with the song, +1/-1 bravery is so uninteresting. And 275 is easily twice the going rate for a 2-cast wizard.

Willing to change my mind but it doesn’t look good early doors.

  6. Thanks for all the responses guys, decided against the Viper in the end and made some other changes to help me pick up my first win vs. Fuethan eels IDK in a long while so pretty happy with it.

My new list is below, made the switch to good old fashioned Hagg Nar as Khelt was doing nothing for me vs. an army that obliterates any single unit it comes into contact with and rerolls 1s for days. Getting all the buffs one turn early is so good.

Played Total Conquest, made a beefy castle on my home objective and basically waited for my opponent to blink first, which they did, then I smashed into them with fast moving blenders. Screening with Doomfires and Shadowstalkers is ideal as they can also attack at speed if your opponent doesn’t try to alpha you. I think having those ~250 point units mean they can still slap but also if they’re wiped it isn’t that big a deal. Anyway, the list, any ideas welcome:

    Allegiance: Daughters of Khaine
    - Temple: Hagg Nar
    Bloodwrack Shrine (160)
    - General
    - Command Trait: Devoted Disciples
    - Artefact: The Ulfuri
    - Lore of Shadows: Mindrazor
Hag Queen on Cauldron of Blood (220)
    - Artefact: Iron Circlet
    - Prayer: Catechism of Murder
    Melusai Ironscale (110)
    10 x Blood Sisters (260)
    10 x Blood Sisters (260)
    5 x Blood Stalkers (140)
    30 x Sisters of Slaughter (360)
    - Barbed Whips and Sacrificial Knives
    10 x Doomfire Warlocks (240)
    9 x Khainite Shadowstalkers (100)
    Scathcoven (140)

    Total: 1990 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 141

Only played 2 games with new DOK (now I have a shot wanna sort more)

Game 1: Didnt get it off.

Game 2: Got it off turn 3 and it killed a Mortisan Boneshaper. 130pts I think they are, so same points as my Medusa plus spell and anything else she did that game. So not bad.

I think if you have the spare points its alright to take if you have a spare caster. If you dont then you are probably saving that cast for Mindrazor

Thanks man, my current debate is whether it’s worth dropping some stuff to make room for the second Medusa on foot and the ES. I know it’s morally wrong to complain about the points cost of DoK units but the 10 points in the 110 of the Ironscale is such a snag in my list building 😅

  8. Had a game last night, have a couple of questions if anyone has a second to answer:

Did the mission it recommends to start (Hunt?). Are enemy mobs supposed to respawn once you kill them? Until you kill 10 of the high power groups?

Do you carry over inspiration between missions?

Does everyone have to extract from the same zone?

We killed Goreslav and Halgrin - do we have to do anything with the tombstones on the influence card?

    Cheers!!

  9. Nothing too original here but board control and blobs of Plaguebearers. Pull them in and slow them down? Think the VC will have some punch as well. Just summon in what I need as it goes? Thoughts appreciated.

    Allegiance: Nurgle
    - Host of Chaos: Munificent Wanderers
    Great Unclean One (320)
    - General
    - Plague Flail & Doomsday Bell
    - Command Trait: One Last Gift
    - Artefact: Mucktalon
    - Lore of Virulence: Favoured Poxes
Sloppity Bilepiper Herald of Nurgle (90)
Spoilpox Scrivener Herald of Nurgle (90)
    Verminlord Corruptor (280)
    - Artefact: The Witherstave
    - Lore of Virulence: Glorious Afflictions
    30 x Plaguebearers (300)
    30 x Plaguebearers (300)
    10 x Plaguebearers (110)
    10 x Plaguebearers (110)
    10 x Plaguebearers (110)
    Tallyband of Nurgle (160)

    Total: 1870 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 1
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 128

  10. Defo think that Stone and Wind as a combo with some cheeky stuff sounds good.

    Alvalenor

    Stonemage

    Cathallar

    Loreseeker

    Spirit of the Wind

    3x10 Stoneguard

    2/3x3 Roos

    Alarith Temple

Not sure of the new points but that’s gotta be pretty close to 2k? Unkillable Stoneguard and you’ll never get to them anyway because the Roos will have you all tied up?

Question all:  I am thinking of just gluing my Bloodwrack Medusa to her 40mm base.  I have NOT assembled my shrine yet.  I was wondering, if I glue her to the 40mm base, can I still perch her on the shrine while on that 40mm base?  I know that the base will hang over the cauldron area (I held it up while the cauldron piece is still on the spruce), but will that base edge make it impossible to put the other witches on the stairs?  I am not the best with magnets so I was trying to do this the easy way.  Thanks all!

Just tested it, the base is only slightly wider than the cauldron itself and so the two witches fit on the stairs either side no issues. The only difference is that the cauldron Medusa has her tentacle pointing down over the rim rather than up if she’s on foot, this doesn’t affect the fit though. Hope that helps.

What do people think of taking one of each unit of Khianri for Scathcoven?

Since it just says Khinari. I have 2 x 5 lifetakers atm but thinking on it having one of each might be more flexible

More options are always good, part of me also thinks that having a unit of 10 lifetakers that are immune to battleshock might be something worth experimenting with, would allow them to work more independently and be a potential headache for opponents.

Yes. It has always been the case.

This is amazing. Prayers are looking so good to me at the moment, I’m very tempted to take Blood Sigil even without buffs, 66.6% chance to get each of 2/3 prayers off without chance of countering is bananas, and if the risk of rolling a 1 is too great, just cast the most important ones. Having played lots of Skaven that risk / reward dynamic is something I find very enjoyable and it’s a great response to magic Doms.

I am having a hard time figuring out the retreat and charge for KN and how its useful. Maybe I am just missing the obvious, but can you give me an instance in which that ability would be useful?

By no means an expert on this, but a couple of possibilities:

Cauldrons do MW on the charge, just retreat and bang them back in.

If you have a smaller unit or hero vs. a bigger unit, ‘tag’ the very end of the enemy unit so they can’t pile all their dudes in to fight.

If you don’t like the fight you’re in, retreat and charge another unit instead. The unit you retreat from is also pinned in place now for that turn.

Sisters of Slaughter 6” pile in can be used here too, you can retreat and lurk outside of 3” and then pile in 6” when it suits you to fight with that unit. This is useful vs. Eels on turn 3 when they fight first but then have to ‘pass’ once they’ve fought with all eligible units - you can now pile in with the unit you protected and fight without response.

Think of everything you can do with Morathi, now make it better using the above.

There’s probably more but these are good to start with hopefully. It’s a skill I’m learning myself.
