  2. Ah, damn. So, the way I’m reading it is that even if you make them re-roll, they can still add a primal dice to it, and if that primal dice is a 6 or makes a double, it doesn’t matter? So the unit is basically pointless now? That’s my fancy jank up in smoke 😅 EDIT: maybe that’s a bit hasty, if there isn’t always Primal dice around it still has a niche?

  4. Thanks man. Don’t suppose anyone’s been using them successfully and has any tactics to use them at their best? To be honest I was thinking about hanging back with them to smash face in the mid-late game once I have at least exploding 6s, but move them up more aggressively early if they’re being shot at?
  5. Right, I’m building my 6 Slaangors today, and so help me God I’m going to try and make them work and then inevitably give up when I finally accept that they’re terrible.
  6. Morning all, couple of quick questions if anyone has a sec. First one: Units of 10 Slickblades - it sounds amazing in theory but how is it done on tabletop? Are people just running 2 ranks of 5 or are they doing coherency magic to get all 10 in pointyways? Secondly: my gut was that low drops would be good for us so we can do alphas if needed, but looks like I’m way wrong (😅) as loads of people are taking additional battalions. Any advice on the good ones? Sharpshooters? Do we need more spell choices or artifacts? Thanks!!

  9. Where’s everyone sitting on HGBs as battleline Galletian Vets after a couple of months? Any thoughts?
  10. My first though was also Stormdrakes 😅 Incantor for auto-unbind? The Prime? Fulminators? 10 Judicators with Boltstorms to blast a few shots out?
  11. Played 2 games with my list above. First game playing Prize of Gallet didn’t go so well, made a few errors and was beaten pretty soundly. Second game on Realmstone Cache was much better vs. Stormcast, basically a Dracothian / Stormdrake Guard / Stardrake mashup list. Pretty much worked exactly as planned despite not winning any rolloffs until round 5. First 2 turns were a cagey waiting game while we waited for it to explode. Once it did the battleline screened out, Battlesmith helped them take the hit and hold them off, though I was pinned in until about round 4 so was behind on points. The HGB blocks with Father and Son were lethal though and carved through his units on the counter-charge so managed to come back into it, made some runs / charges onto objectives and we called it in turn 5. Quite like how it played so gonna stick with it for now, obviously it’s ultra vulnerable to having heroes shot off early doors vs. filth but for the mid-tables it’s pretty fun to pilot, was a satisfying victory in the end.
  12. Anyone else been thinking about taking an Arcane Tome for some Endless Spell shenanigans? Tbh, I feel like the damage output of our Invocations is at least roughly comparable to some of the ES. Having Mystic Shield though is definitely a bonus in a book where none of our Wards stack. Also - the new realm spell might be useful for a Magmadroth trying to cap an objective I reckon.

Gonna follow your advice but fluff it up a bit in the first instance, can run the below without buying anything (getting stuff painted however is a different matter…).   14. Oh man, does anyone have any ideas what to do with a non-droth battleline list? I don’t know whether to try and beef up units of 10 HGBs and make them count for 30 with the one battalion , keep the 15 blocks and give them the damage buff in the other, maybe even swap Runefather out as general so HGBs aren’t battleline and aren’t Galletians any more?
  15. Cool, we’ll see what the next few months bring. At the moment it seems like I’m keeping current list but am 30 points more likely to get the triumph which is decent. Would like to swap my Flamekeeper for a Runesmiter but I’m 5 points short!

  18. Vote for Picks here, Vulkites hit like a wet noodle either way but Picks tap into that World That Was mining vibe for me.
  19. As a disclaimer I’m rubbish at Warhammer, but most lists I’ve seen tend to go with 15s of HGB and the games I’ve played with 10s and 15s make me agree that 15s are better. Lots of foot heroes make me think that Greyfyrd is probably best.
  20. How do we all feel about Runesmiters? Must-pick? Forgettable?
  21. Does Curse and Poleaxe HGBs get you 3mw for every 6 to hit or do they not stack? Cheers!!

So, finished my slow game over a couple of sessions vs. Stormcast dragons (not exactly the cutting edge version, but there was Stormdrake Guard and Fulminators), managed to pick up the W but we were so rusty it hardly matters tbh. So will just post a couple of reflections on stuff that doesn’t really require me to be good at the game to say them: 10 HGBs can die quite quickly if your ward rolls go bad - 2x SDG and 2x Fullies shot and fought them off before they could respond. Following on from that, our counter-attack CA is exactly that and so can be negated by Roar - might be worth taking HotH battalions so we can use it at will? Also wondered about drops and how important they are for us, especially if 2 or 3 units of HGBs would probably be set out the same way ish most of the time and most of our units can lose priority turn 1 and still start the game with a ward save? Did like the option of 5 Aurics as a deck-chair or deep strike unit. They also gave me the option to take the Fyrewall which I thought was excellent, gave my Runemaster the Volatile Brazier and he could launch it around the board to block movement and charges around my Magmadroth as well as giving him a ward if he’s isolated (managed to bag a 4+ ward on him in a combat where he had 3 wounds left which was massive). Dad on Droth with Axe of Grimnir is an absolute murdertrain and Battlesmith Rally is glorious. Really looking forward to my next game now!!
  23. Are people painting HGBs in 5s or 10s? Thinking of taking on 10s but don’t want to lose the will to live.
