  1. Thanks for the ideas so far guys. @Darkhan if I wasn't able to get a Warpseer I was going to go with Thankquol, because that's what I've got so far, but I'm trying to run something a little more disgusting (it is a tournie after all) and I keep seeing everyone mentioning the Warpseer...

  2. Ok fellow squeakers, I have my first tournament the Thursday after next, and have to submit my list by the end of today. This is what I have so far. Not settled on any traits or artifacts, and the Warpseer is conditional on me being able to get hold of one asap (why do no shops actually stock it anymore? It doesn't say "Webstore only"!). Suffocating Gravetide is only in there because I had 20 points left over. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Allegiance: Skaventide

    Leaders
    Verminlord Warpseer (300)

And....has anyone tried painting skaven with just/or mostly contrast paints? Would love to know how to speedpaint them to a good TT standard with little effort.

I have powered through twenty Clanrats just using Contrast and Leadbelcher. It's not quite as efficient as Skreech's four minute madness, but certainly quicker than how I was doing it before!

I'm thinking that they'll take the Wanderers range, add new models based off of Satyrs and Centaurs and throw in a new Orion model, and call it the Wild Hunt. If they don't do it, I will. In Fantome form.

I've been trying to dream up a Destruction army of Wild Hunt (probably spelled Wyld Hunnt because GW) for years now so I will read your fan tome.

there's also a part of me that if I could run the universe as a simulation and then ctrl+z and roll it back would like to see GW release a faction with a name not so subtly insulting whoever owns them, is made up of models that literally look like bits of Play-Doh crudely sculpted by a child into rudimentary piles of 💩 and is released at a premium price BUT with game breakingly powerful stats and abilities and who are effectively an auto-win at tournaments.

Ah, you're reminding me of the Clowns from Legends of the Paintymen...

I’m no “great painter” but had the same idea and already prepped and ready... now it’s just trying to narrow it down to WHICH color(s) to use...

There's a third set?!? When did that come out?

  7. I'd really like to see a Death army that drives in the 'mad scientist' direction. Maybe that could be a reinvention of Deadwalkers- a meshing of dark technology and magic to reanimate the dead, zombie infantry backed up by stitched-together flesh monstrosities and an insane war machine, with a special character who probably says something like, "They all said I was mad, but they'll see, they'll all see!"

  8. The comparison of SC and SM is not in and of itself lazy, don't be ridiculous @Nos. They are both a faction of big, chunky, armoured, ostensibly human protagonists, designed to be an entry point into the hobby, given the lion's share of the support, organised into distinguishable groups to let players customise them. One could definitely take that too far but there isn't nothing behind it.

  9. If the Grand Alliance system is expanded, it would make more sense to do so in a thematic way. I'm not sure exactly what that might look like, but maybe considering the D&D alignment chart as a vague jumping off point, we might consider Destruction as Chaotic Neutral, Chaos as Chaotic Evil, Death as Lawful Evil, Order as Lawful... Neutral? That last one is trickier.

What would a Chaotic Good grand alliance look like? Grand Alliance: Life, maybe, starting with the Sylvaneth and maybe some other new armies? Just an idea.

In warcry you take you aos models and use them for the smaller game...

There are 9 not chaos bands rules at the beginning of the game. And sure they get more

I am confident the main focus is on the primary Chaos warbands with the shiny new miniatures, and that the rules for the non-Chaos factions are a way to try and get non-Chaos players to pick it up too, rather than the primary intention of the game.

  11. With Kill Team, you take your models for 40k and use them for the smaller game. With Warcry, you get models for a smaller game and maybe use them for AoS. The Warcry models don't look like multipose (what passes for it these days anyway) models, they look like one-design push-fit guys- hardly suitable for making large units out of for AoS.

If you guys are excited for Warcry, fantastic, enjoy yourselves and I wish you all the best with it. But, Furies, Raptoryxes and conversions aside, I doubt these warbands are going to be real replacements for Marauders or reinforcements for Chaos armies.

Skyre Inc. would like to make all potential customer/victims aware that they are not not a branch of ACME. All Skyre Inc. products are guaranteed/confirmed lifetime high high standards of production/construction. Any Skaven knows that Skyre Inc. makes bestest/biggest of weapons for war!

With Clan Skyre Inc. products you gets/eats the roadrunner and the road!

Morskratch waved the piece of paper at Bitterslink. "See-see, idiot? Skryre Inc. guarantee-promise flawless performance or our warpstone back-back! You will regret-lament doubting my-my wisdom, wretch. With these new weapon-guns, victory over the hated Clan Fekulent is assured-certain!"

"Of course, mighty-brilliant clawlord, of course. Fool-fool was I to suspect-doubt your genius," genuflected Bitterslink urgently, who had long ago learned his lesson when it came to not contradicting Morskratch. He had learned that lesson so well, he could have passed an exam in it, as his crooked snout, shortened tail and well-bitten ears testified.

Morskratch eagerly started crowbarring open the crates of weapons the slaves had finally finished piling up. Warpfire throwers, jezzails, warp grinders- no poison wind mortars, they dare-dare? He had paid for three!- ratling guns, one smaller crate of automatic cheese cutters he had ordered on a whim ("Clawlords who bought warp grinders also bought..."). He saved the best for last: a smaller, experimental doomsphere he was looking forward to detonating at the heart of Clan Fekulent's warren-fort.

Morskratch didn't notice that Bitterslink had legged it. He was too excited by the doomsphere. So excited that he dropped it, at which point he learned that it had perhaps not been packaged as securely as it might have been.

Much, much later, after the debris had been cleared and the walls half-heartedly hosed down, new clawlord Bitterslink reflected that, as second-in-command, it might have been his duty to point out that the Skryre Inc. guarantee paper had been singed and blackened, with most of the ends burned away.

He didn't reflect for very long, admittedly.

  13. The Skaven are such Saturday morning cartoon villains and are so funny. They blow themselves up like their kit's fresh from ACME, they backstab each other as a matter of course and if (when) I lose, I can blame someone else and have my Arch-Warlock shake his fist and squeak, "You haven't seen the last of me-me!" They're like something out of a Terry Pratchett novel.
