  1. I love the new terrain rules! I've always thought that AoS suffered greatly because of the terrain and LOS rules. I think what we'll have in 4th edition is great: the rules are not complex but they bring additional layer of tactical depth. Really looking forward to playing my first game of the new edition!

  2. The first issue of White Dwarf that I have ever read was the issue 201. At the time, I was attending drawing and illustration classes and one of the guys who used to travel a lot at the time brought it. These magazines were almost impossible to find in Belgrade at the time - Serbia was just recovering from severe economic sanctions and GW stuff were really expensive. So I asked this guy to borrow me the issue for a week or two and then I read it almost completely. I carried it to school every single day during those two weeks and used to read it during the breaks between classes. I did not have any minis, nor did I understood the rules, but the artwork, lore articles and pictures of minis and battlefields really made an impression on me. Few months later, the same guy brought WD 199 (the one with Abaddon on the cover) - and that picture (and Chaos Space Marines in general) has been burned somewhere in my cortex from that moment.

Such joyful colour in your work, and so beautifully executed regardless of the army (though I particularly like the Lord of Change)

Thank you! Regarding the Lord of Change and Kairos Fateweaver, I think they are among my best work so far - I really wanted to take no shortcuts with those guys and spent a lot of time working on them (and it was frustrating because the work was slow, but in the end I am really happy about the results). I wanted to paint them for a long time, but I started working on them only when I was confident enough that I am able to pull off exactly what I want; for me, it is really frustrating to want to do something and realize that you are lacking the skills to do it.

Few days ago I've taken a picture of two of them side by side:

And regarding joyful colours, I really enjoy working with vibrant colors - so I always try to have at least a few of them whenever I'm painting something. With Tzeentch and Sylvaneth it is very easy to find reasons for having many such colours :D

  4. Hello folks and welcome to the Painting Contract for May 2024!

If you don't know the rules, here they are:

    • Each month you post an amount of models that you agree to try to paint/build/convert/sculpt. This can be any model for Age Of Sigmar, Warcry, Blood Bowl, Blitz Bowl, Dungeon Bowl, Warhammer Underworlds, Warhammer Quest or any GW game.
    • On the 28th of the month the contract closes and you can then post your progress images so that they can be critiqued, shared and boasted about. It is a great way to get involved in the community and to get inspiration.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone share their progress!

    Enjoy!

It literally does. "Ignore the effects of "guarding hero"  ability  when picking the target for thier shooting attacks". It literally says ignore that rule when picking targets. If you ignore the rule you get zero benifit from it. When you pick a target for their shooting attack you ignore the effects (plural) of guarding hero .  There is clear case guarding hero is entirely ignored as written not just the targeting aspect.

I agree with you - the ability is ignored completely (not just the part of it). I also think it's stated pretty clear - any effect provided by "Guarding Hero" does not apply.

  6. Well, Abraxia is mentioned in the first of the Dawnbringer books - it is just a brief mention (basically just one sentence), but she is clearly referred to as "Her Highness in Ruin" ("...though the Varanguard would name their instigator only as 'Her Highness in Ruin'..."). I started reading that book few days ago, so I'll check if she is mentioned later as well.

I'm not usually a fan of Stormcasts... but you've done an exceptional job with them! The gold and the emerald green is so vibrant. And the bases set them off perfectly.

Thank you! Yes, the bases really changed the whole thing. I wanted them to stand on some kind of ruins, but was not willing to work on so many bases - so when I found out that pre-made bases like those existed, I immediately ordered them for the whole army :D It was a bit expensive, but it was also really worth it in the end, because it affected the overall look & feel of the miniature a lot. Plus, those bases fit into story about my army and their colour scheme (they are sworn protectors of Alarielle and have fortress in Ghyran).

  8. I have posted multiple pictures of my painted Stormcast Eternals models in this thread, but here’s a group shot of my entire army:

All models except the Bastian Carthalos and Yndrasta use GamersGrass “Temple” bases. Besides the models shown here, I have a few more units and heroes that are not painted yet. I’ll probably paint them during the breaks from painting my Seraphon army.

  9. As I wait for the 4th edition, I am painting some leftover units and doing the "refresh" of the paintjobs on some of my older Sylvaneth models. Since my painting skills progressed a lot over the course of the last few years, there are some noticeable differences between the models that I painted when I started playing Age of Sigmar back in 2017 and the models I have painted just recently. I still love my older models, but I will definitely make some changes here and there and also redo some of the bases (because that is one of the biggest differences).

Almost everything I have for Sylvaneth is fully painted now (and I have almost 5000 points) except one unit of Tree-Revenants, Alarielle and Wyldwoods. I will paint Tree-Revenants this month and I think I have a good idea how to make the woods look nice quickly. I have already posted pictures of painted Alarielle in the past - unfortunately, that model was heavily damaged when me and my family moved to the new apartment two years ago. I thought about fixing the damage, but ultimately decided to simply buy a new model and paint it again. I bought the model few months ago and assembled it over the last week - so it is ready for painting and I will make it look much better than the previous version!

Here is the unit of Kurnoth Hunters that I've painted last week:

  11. It's been a while since I've painted any Sylvaneth models - the last one was Warsong Revenant, more than two years ago. However, Sylvaneth are my primary army and I when I saw Belthanos, I knew he would be a great addition to my army (especially since I love Kurnoth Hunters). But, my friend surprosed me a week ago and gave me Belthanos as a present. I have assembled it the next day and started paiting immediately - and here are the results:

Just read through your log, lovely armies and very crisp painting! Love seeing the steady progress over the years. Keep it up!

Thanks! I am glad that you can see the progress - at the beginning I was wandering a little bit. but as the time went on I kept learning and became much more consistent with my painting.

Recently, I have started painting my Seraphon/Lziardmen army. Here's the first batch of the Saurus Warriors:
