Hi there,
I've searched a lot but I didn't find a precise answer: what is the height of the mega gargant model and the gargant model, from feet to top of the head? (in short, how tall are the models?). I don't have the mean to buy them but I'd like to try the army, at least with some printed models...
I believe the mega gargant is 19 cm tall and the regular gargant is about 11 cm tall.

Hi, everyone.
I've been busy with work lately but I have had some time to start working on painting this 3d printed giant designed by Duncan Shadow. I think it seems quite nice and would recommend checking it out - the man is a wonderful digital sculptor.
Here is an update on the small amount I've added to King Brodd: improving the shape of the biceps, lats, and starting the forearms.
Hope everyone is done well!- 2

Nice conversion, sir. Looks great. Is this three limbed fellow a chaos infused gargant?

That seems odd. That said, with the black background I think the gap would be almost impossible to notice.
Really nice paint job regardless, bro. -

Those are incredible. You're an absolute beast of a painter.
What was your thought process behind painting, what appears to be, that cracked skin effect? In either case, really love how characterful both models are - they really seem to tell a story.- 1

Things have been pretty hectic lately, but I wanted to share some of the progress on King Brodd. The approximate height from base to the top of the head is 23 cm so he seems appropriately scaled for being the king of giants. The large object over his head (a spice container) will eventually become Brodd's pillar. Later on I plan to use vines to hide some of the wires I used to strongly secure the "pillar". All in all, quite a bit more work to be done but it is beginning to take shape.
Hope everyone is having lots of fun with the new gargants!- 8

King Brodd is progressing slowly but at a steady pace. I feel I've made some good progress on the body as well!
Really enjoying looking at the fun and exciting paint jobs. Its all great motivation.- 9

My gosh. People in this thread are incredibly creative.
I can't believe the quality of work. Hugely inspiring.

I appreciate Games Workshop updating the warscroll for the Bone Grinder and the new gargantuan club attack seems powerful. Cool.
That said, I can't understand why the Bonegrinder Mega-Gargant is not considered a hero? It seems based on the lore that Mega-Gargants are by default considered heroes to their kinfolk. Seems like a very strange and unnecessarily limiting decision. -
Figured I may as well attempt my own version of King Brodd considering we won't likely see an official version any time very soon. Hopefully it goes well.- 5

I wonder if a table like the Big Name table on the Ogre Tyrant warscroll could have been added to create a bit more customization to such a large and interesting model?

Exactly my problem with the way prices are going. I've got the money to buy the models, and I have a budget set up to keep everything financially in check and managed. The issue is that one mega gargant is 2 months of hobby budget for a model that, if I were to really work on doing a good job, would probably take me 2 weeks of hobby time to finish. The value just isn't there. For the same cost I can easily get a box of troops, a different big monster, and maybe an elite unit to top it off. I'll get far more hobby enjoyment and time out of those models than I could ever get out of the mega gargant.
I'm not really too fussed right now, it's not like I was planning on starting up a Lumineth or Sons army anyway. However if we see all the future armies and resculpts getting priced in these ranges then... well the game doesn't really have much of a future for me. I can still make the rounds and expand my current collections for a while but I'll be off to try something different before too long.
Fortunately there are so many affordable alternatives models, starting at $12 Canadian upwards, of giants ranging from 105-190 mm that there is no reason not to build a SoB army.
No reason not to play the army if the desire exists.

This is a reasonable suggestion if you feel as though you are getting fair value for the price that you are paying. Budgeting is always a good idea for personal finance.
My issue with the SoB release is that the consumer is not getting fair value. In Aus they cost $320 AUD, that's not fair value at all.
I can "afford" to buy a kit. I can "afford" hundreds of them today, technically, but why the hell would I when there are better things to spend my money on?
No one, well almost no one, has infinite money. As adults we need to buy/pay off property, make investments, save for retirement etc. So fair value is extremely important when deciding how to use the money that we have for discretionary spending. I could spend $320 on this gargant kit, or I could make that $320 go MUCH further in a myriad of other ways.
IMO the only people at this point who defend GW pricing either a) do not understand the value of money or b) have infinite money. I suspect it is more a) than b).
I agree, but don't forget that some people spend millions of dollars on expensive purchases like yachts or sports teams.
Therefore $380, if you live in NZ, for a plastic toy is completely reasonable and beyond critism.

I was so very excited for this release. Unfortunately, I think the approximate $250 Canadian price tag is a bit too much for a Mega Gargant in my books.
Really looking forward to see everyone's pictures from this forum though. Should be lots of fun and motivating.- 2

I really appreciate the aesthetics of the Warlord Landsknecht. I read in the product description that the box contains metal and plastic - are the arms metal?
As it relates to this thread topic I have felt "priced out" of purchasing most Games Workshop products for a few years now - the last expensive model I purchased was the the Glottkin in 2016 and even at that cost I felt it was pushing my tolerance.
I'm really enjoying painting and assembling Victrix models these days. Much less expensive and I really enjoy the style of sculpt. Highly recommend. -

Left to right: '90's Bretonnian Archer, Kairic Acolyte, Frostgrave Cultist, Warlord Landsknecht, Greatsword. Tried to get them to the same height.
I'll have to pick a new one and put a guard body next to a Warlord body, the latter are much more human shaped.
That 90's Bretonnian archer looks really fantastic. What an amazing sculpt to have held up so well for so long.
