  1. Yeah, as much as I love the changes we’ve seen so far (I asked for lots of them in their annual surveys), I guess GW turned their back against their ever evolving ruleset and revert back to editions. Note that I am not judging and have no idea if it is a bad thing, just that the original promise is not there

  2. Don’t if it fits but last year, between the social uproar in my country followed by the pandemic, my interest in the hobby almost disappeared.

Then came august and some half deserved vacations, right on time for the beginning of the Animosity II online global narrative campaign. It even made me write fiction for the first time in my life (I am 40+).

Animosity III is starting mid July. You should all come and see for yourselves. Last year was amazing. On a side note, abandon family and quit your job if you want to be able to follow the discord. Never seen that in my life 😅

  3. Do not buy it on Switch!

    I repeat.

Do not buy it on Switch!

Unfortunately the console struggle too much to run the game properly. The first Stormcast campaign is ok besides strange lags during the non combat screen. But once you launch the Nighthaunt campaign with 7 units and a couple of souls on the battlefield, it is unplayable. Will try to get a refund :/

  4. Very excited.

From a lore perspective, I like that they chose Destruction as the main antagonist. Being a Death fan, I really enjoyed Soul wars (even if BR Teclis was a let down imho). Destruction focus will be cool and hopefully fun.

Super excited by the rework of Path to glory. Narrative At All Cost!!

Rather happy to see that we will get generic battalions, because I am pretty sure it will hopefully reduce the power gaps between lists.

  5. If I have any issue with the wargaming community is that there is too much focus on efficiency. What I see here is a badass model, that will be impressive on the battlefield. And I guess it will be as frustrating as fun to fight against him

Id have assumed butcher-herd would be destruction, Mawtribes specifically, given Kragnos is destruction. Herd does suggest beastmen though

Didn’t they say that Gloomspite will have the BR treatment in Kragnos?

There seems to be some army battalion on BR: Kragnos after all:

    - Broken Realms: The butcher-herd (Beast of Chaos?) - 90€

    - Broken Realms: The exquisite pursuit (Slaanesh) - 70€

    - Broquen Realms: Rattachak's doom-coven (Skaven?) - 70€

    - Borken Realms: Drycha's spitegrove (Sylvaneth) - 80€

Kragnos is 125€ and Kroak 90€.

My guess concerning the Sylvaneth box, as it will go from 480 to 540 points depending on the tree revenants build.

    Allegiance: Sylvaneth

    Leaders
    Drycha Hamadreth (300)

    Battleline
    5 x Tree-Revenants (80)
    5 x Tree-Revenants (80)
    5 x Tree-Revenants (80)

    Total: 540 / 2000
    Extra Command Points: 0
    Allies: 0 / 400
    Wounds: 25

Arguably I think the easiest to market IP would be their Old World Fantasy.  Its easy to sit general audience down and say "These are the High Elves, Dwarfs and German-lite Humans, they are the good guys and these Orcs, Evil Elves and Spiky Humans are the bad guys".  And honestly I have been dreaming of a Gotrek tv series since I first read Trollslayer way too many years ago.

Age of Sigmar on the other hand, while i've grown to love the setting and factions, seems almost too abstract and full of backstory that it would be hard to market (at first at least).

As fantasy is a game dead today (in terms of range) I don’t think it would be a good idea. And from someone who only tie with WFB is the Total war Warhammer series, while the game are super cool, the universe is not distinctive at first sight as AoS is.

Concerning AoS, as it is based on Norse mythology, I don’t think it is that much abstract for people to jump in.

I have a bad feeling that this countdown is going to lead to a cool animated trailer, maybe a single model or 2 previewed and then we’re going to get further teased throughout June until a full reveal in early July for an end of July release.

Bad feeling because it’d be nicer for all this teasing to lead to a full reveal. Teasing is fun for a bit but it gets real old!

To quote Vince Venturella, the reason why we were / all disappointed by the last reveal show and surely will be by the next one, because we already half know what will be AoS 3 because of the leaks. If we would not have known that, we would have appreciated more those reveals.

@pseudonyme, sorry but I can’t do anything for the foreseeable future. We were hit pretty hard (devastated) by Laura a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve got a ton of work and repairs to do on my home (plus my yard, and then my hobby shed) before I’ll be able to get back into hobbies.

Yeah, sure. Sorry to hear that. Hope you and your family are ok. Take care.

  12. Dear @Lior'Lec, did you finally try it? Do you have any feedback to share?

As for solo rules, I did not try Doug 2+Tough ruleset, but for Animosity 2, I played a couple of solo games just by impersonating both players. I carefully chose asymetric victory conditions as I wanted to tell the story of my warband in the context of the campaign. That was fun and I only cheated once :D

    NON-PLAYABLE WARBAND AI WARCRY ADD-ON

(for chaotic beasts and other mindless hordes)

    Dear fellow wargamers,

The goal of this add-on is to add a simple AI to control a Non-Playable Warband (referred as NPW in the rest of the ruleset), to control chaotic beasts and other mindless hordes (Squigs, ghouls, ghosts….) in your regular games of Warcry. In addition to the AI, each NPW has their own specific rules to add flavor and hopefully « fun ».

This add-on is aimed at people who only have 1 friend who has only 1 warband, for people who wants to use models they shelved for whatever reasons and for people like me who are always looking for an excuse to buy more minis.

    DISCLAIMER

This entire rule set might content traces of sarcasm and trolling. Please take everything personally.

Also, english is not my first language, so if you have any suggestions on phrasing, please comment on this topic.

    WHY THIS ADD-ON

When I first read the chaotic beast rules of activation, I was rather disappointed because it was just giving another option to the players, not that there is anything wrong with that, but I’d have rather preferred something uncontrollable, the game itself trying to decimate both players.

This idea came to mind after transposing multiplayer deployment for 3 players and reading an AoS White dwarf battleplan with an AI for Troggoths. And because I played Zombicide Black Plague, I came to the conclusion that there should be a simple way to do an AI for at least the non-human non leader models.

    WHAT THIS ADD-ON IS NOT

A solo mode for Warcry. Yes, the following rules could be easily adapted in a survival mode with the maximum of turns to survive / maximum enemy waves to kill, but this is not the intent. A full solo/coop would require more in depth AI, at least to control the leaders and specific scenarios (Warhammer quest in a sense) and specific victory conditions.

Ok, ok, ok. If you really insist, the specific scenarios at the end could be played solo or cooperatively with a couple of tweaks here and there, that might appear in a future version of this ruleset.

You mean insert literally anything 40k here because for some reason they make AoS models go against 40k models in a popularity contest despite 40k having 5 times more players... Why they don’t have fantasy model of the year a separate thing is beyond me... It will never not be 40k

Yes and no. Yes because 40k seems to have a larger fan base. No because I think that last year proved that a little model, released at the end of the year, won by pure Nostalgia. How could this noise marine could ever beat the Morathi release is beyond me.

Eh, we have a rumor engine from August that belongs to them, they have been teased since August in the Warcry core rulebook and we are almost certainly getting Spire Tyrants in January. I'm thinking Scions will most likely be a Q1 release.....likely March. I imagine the original plan was to release them and the Spire Tyrants at the same time but production complications or manufacturing capability slowed them down.

My guess is that they will be in the next Warcry starter set. So not soon-ish.

You can also run the Briar Queen's warband as chainrasps and a dread warden with a tomb banshee mercenary. Ironskull's warband can also be played in it and I suspect the Beastgrave one will also be playable in it, so can the Sepulchral Wardens and the Grymwatch. We'll probably be able to use the DoK one in Warcry when that comes out too. It should also be mentioned that a few of the warbands also have fighters that can be used as mercs for warbands as well although mostly for Chaos, fighters like Skritch who you can use as a Clawlord, Vortemis who can be used as a Magister and Gashrak who you could play as a Brayshaman.
Hopefully we see more factions added to Warcry so we can use the other WHU warbands in it as well but time will tell. Personally I'd like to see warbands for Cities of Sigmar and Kharadron warband.

You should check the Warcry subforum because lits of people worked on homebrewed warbands like the link below.

Moreover, Nershly on Twitter did a card generator.

Do not forget that the expansion of Warcry will certainly add more AoS faction in addition to the shortlived cards.
