He's not the jolliest rumor monger, but isn't he generally right? IIRC he was one of the few who knew about the end of warhammer fantasy and the new game (four-page rulebook, round bases...)

He was but he fell out with GW over the end of fantasy and the whole fine cast debacle.
he may have reconnected with his sources but I’m not sure he is as connected as he was before. He’s not salty over everything btw- he loves the blood bowl teams . But he doesn’t know as much as he did and he used to know a lot!

  2. I don't think it will be full of resin kits and I've known Hastings a long time. If Titanicus can have plastic TOW will have as well. Plastic is GW future and I think TOW is designed to take the same space as Heresy. I think he's being overly pessimistic . Plus there's so much crossover between TOW and AOS.

  3. Just got some dwarf stuff -mostly little scenery pieces and one dwarf, from Durgin Forge. Beautiful models with alt sculpts that would work in KO, Fyreslayers and dispossessed. The great master looks to be a great admiral type and the brewmaster seems excellent. There are some steampunk elements including a dwarf mecha. I love the dwarf bases and terrain bits I got and he thrown some crow models as a gift. Defintely recommend!

I totally understand. Im just happy we havent had next weeks reveals spoiled!! It feels like we now know the end of 2022 or perhaps the beginning of 2023 but now we have all this stuff in between to look forward to!!

We have 6 Factions releasing between now and STD and its highly unlikely every single one of them is a single model release!!

I think its great to get bits and the odd pics and its fantastic that we have a roadmap for the rest of the year. I just wish the leakers wouldn't  do full book reveals. But its great ti have so much to look forward to and I'm glad it hasn't spoiled next weeks reveals. Theres something very exciting about seeing the official videos and then finally getting your paws on the books and models!

Sorry @silverstu, while looking for the S2D leaks I accidentally stumbled upon the entirety of the Chaos Knights Codex (barring lore) for 9th. There’s no justice in this world.

I'm fine with folks being excited and sharing leaks- that's totally understandable. I just wish the original leakers would hold more stuff back. Bits and hints and descriptions are a lot of fun to talk about - when they leak entire books it takes away form the actual release experience. Great to get tasters though and a sense of what's coming! {honestly I was hoping at one stage for some squat leaks but now I'm happy enough to see the official stuff!]. Again - not criticising anyone for enjoying and sharing the leaks, or the fact we get leaks, just the extent of the leaks is a little much.

  5. Wow this is hectic! Its great to sees many folks hyped up by what is coming- after so little news and rumours there comes a torrent and AoS seems to burst bak to life.

I do think its a bit of a shame that so much that is so far out has leaked as images though. [not raining on anyones parade here just think it takes away from the actual release ].When the battletome actually arrives folks will have seen pretty much everything months in advance. I'm actually hoping for no LoV leaks on the 40k side! But its great toes a lot of really cool stuff for chaos as well as the promise of a suite of battletomes before the end of the year!

  6. Well that's all a bit of surprise! All the tomes make the rest of the year look interesting! The Slaves book cover definitely looks like an army box set Book- they always have alternative covers like that. Chaos is looking good and so far off too! The demon prince I  think will have lots of options - including heads so I reckon it will look awesome when fully revealed. Not my thing but great to see so much coming!

More books to read (I hope), more games to play (40k/Killteam) and more miniatures to paint!
I'm excited about League of Votann!!! Everything seems awesome!

Yep me too! Hoping for some books! Actually I really hope they chat about the development of LoV next week and maybe mention what sorts of things are coming [i.e novels!! and art!].

Incidentally there has been no mention of squats in the new Nid book that I've noticed .. I am thinking now that they are showing off stats that they are coming soon [like an army box first ] maybe in June. Although June is for Heresy...

  8. Hyped about Leagues if Votann making an appearance! Hoping they tell us when and what os coming!

Very interested to see what the Sylvaneth get - exciting that they said units for the Sylvaneth, although I'm exepecting them to be of the Bugs/trees variety not the kurnothi variety.

Is it Warcry or is it underworlds? Warcry reappearing seems likely and I'm wondering what form it will take- still focused on Chaos or will it be KT type boxes for different factions? Hoping for the later...

What? How we know he could have done some work on new squats? There's already some BL novels announced for the leagues?

He's a background writer for 40k as well as an author- hoping for a novel or two for them..

this was his reaction to the announcement -

I genuinely cannot tell you folks how long I’ve been dying to talk about the truly glorious Leagues of Votann… at last they’re on their way, and I could not be more excited!

I got a digital copy on black library. It's super good. Not just the story, but the writing is solid and rarely relies on the reader knowing outside lore.

Oh cool! The author has done work on the new squats and I was wondering how good a writer he is!

  11. I really love the Ancestor AI angle- ties in nicely with the revered ancestor feel of dwarfs. The artwork is amazing - that big head form and the war room with the ancestor faces on the wall plates and the figures seemingly plugged into the machine. Their armour looks fantastic- the new exo-suit guards look imposing. I really want to see their helmets and weapons- I'm thinking the helmets will be stylised bearded faces but more realistic/modern than the Kharadrons. The art reminds a lot of some the art of in the KO book. Can't wait to see more!

I agree I hope they have mobility otherwise they might not be fun to play- could be through their vehicles or teleportation if they have better more reliable tech than the imperium. Could see a warlord and his hearth guard beaming in and laying waste! I like the idea of robot constructs like the Thanatar Siege robots providing heavy hitting focal points, but being LoV constructs not Men of Iron.

  12. I like the skaven- really fun models they look great to paint, the Aelves I think suffer from being close to the Warcry stuff, they are nice models but I think we were all hoping from something fresher. Interesting that GW have reinforced that part of the faction - could be they are planning on fleshing out that side of DoK a bit more so they become more regular aelves as opposed to the Khinerai and Melusai. Makes me think Kurnothi going from deer legged aelves to more regular wood aelves. ..

After decades of waiting the Squats we're prepared for the last bastion of Dwarfdom to be brought back.

Hoping still with tall Hats and bovine features.

I'm hoping for at some point seeing what they do for the AoS version of Classic dwarfs [and an expansion of KO as well].Chorfs aren't my thing but each tot heir own.

I do wonder if the return of Squats took up the dwarf design space for the last while and thats why we haven't seen much in the way of new dwarfs for AoS. I know the teams are separate but I think the team that did the AoS dwarfs, especially KO and Gotrek, would be the ones you'd trust to reinvent and return the squats. Hopefully we will see some new dwarfs soon.

Very much agreed, I can imagine these evil little kids sitting around a big centrepiece ghoulking model on his throne surrounded by his heirs

Yeah -they look like familiars or something nasty, do they look "ghoul" enough though? Something beastie maybe ..

I think it's more likely that they saw the success of kharadron and though that giving squats another shot could be worth it. I don't think KO fit in 40k.

I think that the Kharadron allowed them to try something different with the dwarf archetype and find success- they are a good move away from traditional fantasy dwarfs while still maintaining their "dwarfness". To me as long time collector of dwarfs they seem [and still seem] so cool and fresh and incredibly interesting. I was pretty shocked when they where first revealed but totally love them and intrigued as to where they get taken. The LoV look like Kharadrons in the far future, in space - they both share an obvious strong grasp of technology and I can't wait to see more. I also assume KO are quite popular/quite a good release for GW in terms of sales and that probably would have allowed them to go ahead with the squat project. Jervis said it wasn't lack of sales that led them to drop squats but the rather the lack of a cool design concept, KO showed them how to do it and have success both in design terms and sales.

i think Sylvaneath are more likely to get stuff since they like Nighthaunt got a new model during Broken realm and i don't think they were made in isolation while Skaven got rules but nothing else in that series.

i hedge that both are not going to be big releases either way, so I doubt that this is the Skaven refresh or the Kurnoth expansion that people been wanting, just given the current 40K/30K release timeline.

Yeah I'm not expecting Kurnothi with Syvaneth now -I think they are sticking with the trees/insect spite type, which I'm sure will be interesting.

  16. Well I reckon there'll be female squats - so male and female bare heads will be useful.Intrigued to know what their new helmets will look like and how the hearth guard will look. Plenty of opportunity for head and arm swaps. I'm delighted to have a 40k force of KO's cousins!

I do wonder about vehicles - thinking they might be airborne like the KO with flying warships rather than crawlers, possibly with AI construct walkers in support..I saw squat ship conversion made from an upside-down Ironclad with anti-grav suspensors attached and it looked very cool!

@Beliman love the new avatar mate!

  17. Yes I'm stupidly excited by the arrival of Squats and as a full faction! They weren't what I was expecting but really hyped for them. They look like highly advanced Kharadron to me actually with carapace over their space suits, like the KO environmental suits. I'm guessing their helmets will tie them closer to the dwarf design ethos the way the KO masks do. Also expecting more sophisticated armour for the elites and heroes as this is just a basic trooper.

Super excited to see more and can't wait to get my mitts on them!

I wouldn't mind a good kill team box. Apart from the layout of the sprie, the veteran guardsmen were brilliant!

Me too! I think thats how they will start them- a killteam set and then a full release later [assuming they go well as killteam- and considering the excitement this has built I'd say this is likely].

I'd get a couple of squads together of that the back of that as starters. The killteam sets have been great - love the orks, guard and corsairs [not sure on the sisters!]. They look like you could get a good bit of value and variation out of them- love all the extra bits you get! That would keep me happy for a good while!

Another thing about the film- love the new faction icon, I think if t was purely a joke they would have used a retro squat and icon, but in any case the icon looks great.

I've bo doubt Squats are in the Pipeline but we won't see them for a while yet. Expect they'll be drip fed through different smaller releases . Squat Killteam is probably best bet for any substantial release in the next year or so.

Yeah I'm expecting them as a Killteam. Therewasn't a Killteam announcement at Adepticon despite Nachmund being released. Also the name Votann in the link to the video - Killteam Votann maybe? Let on spaceship?

I think there's too much effort put in for it to be just an April Fool, I think its a double bluff. Also note is on twitter the pinned Warcom tweet for the Heresy Animation has much fewer likes, comments and retweets than the Squat one...

    I'm hyped!! {plus Kharadron crossovers!!]

For those wondering, Sigvald looked like this:

    FB_IMG_1648569884557.jpg.bab3c6533dc2cc52baa538d835d13248.jpg

It's an incredibly impressive and technically brilliant paint job, no doubt - I would say it shows more raw skill on this model than number one (this isn't to say the painter is more skilled, just model vs model).

However, as an entire piece, Sigvald seems to be less well composed than the Skink. It's technically incredible but it's very grey/metallic, whereas the skink is classic colours and clean.

While I think Sigvald is overall more impressive and more technically demanding, the Skink looked better as a whole piece.

Yes I'd agree with that- the technique is superb but the composition seems off and overdone, to my eyes the application of technique almost obscures the model. The painting on the skink however really celebrates the model. But again a lot of that is subjective. [and its all waaaaay above my painting skill level!].

On the Horus Heresy I do wonder wether it will free them up a little from the marine fix in 40k and give them space to develop other things. Mind you I did think the trailer they released looked more like Epic with BFG than just 30k...

Warhammer Old World is going to be the 4th system I think I read so fantasy still balances out AoS and WOW, 40k and 30k.

I am looking forward to seeing some new AoS in the future- especially the Syvaneth, even though Kurnothi aren't apparently part of them, there is so much scope for cool designs there.

I'd say they wanted to save some Reveals for Warhammerfest in May. It's not that far away and makes the wait seem less between reveal and release of the Summer Tomes. Who knows they may reveal Sylvaneth and Skaven with a Nighthaunt style release for Sylvaneth and a massive update for Skaven!!

Yes they definitely held a lot back- even for 40k there's nothing on Killteam or their new war zone and they have the Chaos and Heresy stuff to reveal then. Plus Cursed City expansions and Warcry has been quiet fr a while too.

I'd say there will more be more then, they have almost caught up with the January sneak peek trailer with the Chaos Knight and the Ashe Wastes.

Loved the Nighthaunt character - looks very appealing as a hobby project.

Mmm...seems strange a Lumineth 3rd wave so soon...till now mostly new armies that got some *beef* are order i would expect something for death (if skaven are a big release) before Malerion and Tyrion.

well at least it gets them out of the way so we can usher in the Age of the Duardin with endless dwarf faction releases....😇

Looking forward to seeing what comes out of adepticon - looks like Uglu elves are likely and I'm wondering what the new Sylvaneth will look like too.
