  1. I always like having female models within a faction- I really like the added variation and interest [and I'm a bloke]. I've always wanted female dwarf models, I like having female leaders and heroes alongside the male ones as well as in units. It just improves the visual diversity within a faction and gives the sense of a fuller society and I like that sense of depth in a faction. I was so happy to see female Kharadron represented in the artworks and the fluff in the recent Kharadron book and a few novellas- hoping they are added on model form too when ever we get some new sculpts [thought it was a shame the new endrinmaster wasn't female]. The art looks really good with different helmet designs for the females so I'm hopeful they can be done well.

But correct me if i am wrong, but have GW ever outright said anything about another wave for any army?

Yeah they said that around the Kharadron release as well -that that was it for now. Encouraging.

Hopefully we'll see second waves for armies soon with these new books/new edition.

Don't forget the original plan for AoS was 4 grand alliances and then a lot of "micro" armies. GW wasn't going to make a wargame it was making a boutique miniature line that happened to get used by some wargamers. So chances are work on things like Kurnothi was already well along the development line when things got changed. So instead of wasting all that design work they instead consolidated them into a side game. Perhaps it also allows the designers to explore ideas that they'd like to do, but which don't get approval for a full army. Forgeworld was mostly made in its day to be the creative outlet for some designers and to also make things the main studio couldn't.

Basically when you have creative staff there is sometimes a need to give them "outlets" for that creativity alongside your core products. That way you maintain your creative staff working for you rather than them geting stale and branching off on their own.

Yeah thats one the charms of the AOS universe - there is smooch scope for diversity and Warcry and Underworlds gives them the chance to try things out. Doubtless if they are well received and are seen as something that can be developed further they will be. Possibly why some factions haven't been revisited yet is that the design studio hasn't got a fully developed vision for what to do next for them. It is actually what happened to squats- they couldn't get a strong vision of where to take them. Plus we really haven't seen them revisit any of the factions bar Slaves to Darkness, they'll probably want to revisit ranges in a manner which allows them to evolve rather than get stuck on fixed factions.

  4. Yeah we don't really know what's on the way beyond that Morathi box army wise. Plus I'm really keen to see what's coming for Warcry and Underworlds beyond the new starters. Hoping for something Dwarf that I can buy into.

    And Skaven in December😆...

.... Well at least I was trying to convince you😂

I'm really surprised they haven't done much with Skaven - my arch nemesis...

I hope core units are 20 models each one, if not, at the price of the Witch Aelves, people are going to use H-Elves or 3D printed models.

They are shown in 10s in the promo photo so thats probably the number in the box unfortunately. I take it they are an elite army not horde...😬

Telcis looks to be pretty big centre piece model you'd only buy one of so I can kind of get that.

Recently I was going through my old Codex for Tyranids - early ones had hardly any real meat on the lore. It's not acutally in recently that we start getting 100 pages of lore alone. I got the Escher book recently and its the same, only a smaller number of pages. I figure that give it 10-20 years and we'll granular growth in AoS.

Steady establishing of themes and ideas that stick.

Yeah I noticed between the first Kharadron book and the second they have started to add in more lore and descriptions- the setting generally is getting deeper and more established and this will only improve as they go forward.

@LuminethMagethank you for the feedback !

My friend told me about a Fox-like elemental for the Wind Temple ?! Pretty cool if true.

A fox spirit could be very cool.. I could be tempted in the future.. will we get fox elites too I wonder.. might fit in with my Kurnothi war band I'm building..

  7. It will be interesting to see if they use the Broken Realms books to add new units/expand  existing factions. Interested to see what other war bands come for Warcry those models look excellent and I love that chameleon skink, might be tempted by a seraphon underworld team.

  8. Yeah definitely- maybe not annually but every couple fo years. I'd actually love faction specific lore books with art, stories etc.. [although AOS is relatively young for that I've often thought about it for 40k]. Battletomes and codex are great and all but the lore/art etc really feeds the hobby [especially for me as I don't play at the moment]. It would be great to have a source book to go to for inspiration. Currently a lot of the inspiration for me is from the community, it would be great to have something to add to it or base it on beyond what's in a battletome.

So what’s going up for pre-orders tonight? Sons? etb 40K kits? WARCRY?! (I know it’s unlikely) Necromunda?

Necromunda or 40k I'd say are most likely.. really hoping for more Warcry news soon [even just to see the rest of the Khainite war band ]. I guess we might get some reveals in September looking forward to the run up to Christmas.. releases seem to be pretty solid through to the end of October..

  10. Those orcs look amazing! The recent sculpts are so good! Someone over on Dakka was commenting on the number of teams- I wonder if they are going to do them like Underworlds warbands and slip the old teams out of production as they bring in new teams. These new human and orc teams are a real step up from the first sets..

On the release side of things yeah I doubt there will be another faction released this year. Probably will be underworlds and Warcry -which should be good[really hoping for something dwarf-y or Kurnothi .. I'll not hold my breath through].  Maybe new boxed games along with Army boxes for Christmas?

  11. Might fit into the Undead Fantasy Quest rumours as some sort of guard/guardian as well [which still could fit in with SoulBlight or FEC factions just in a boxed game]. Makes sense if that what the others are for and would be a handy release for Christmas..

Well there was a big rumor post on Warhammer community that hinted at the return of bugman. I wonder if there is a booze focused army/warband based around valaya goddess of hearth, healing and brewing who has also been mentioned in lore and is the only unrepresented dwarf god. Maybe even some fem dwarfs?

    Edit: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/05/15/mysteries-of-the-mortal-realmsgw-homepage-post-1/

Well it would be great to see him and his rangers back in some form, a warcry war band of them would be perfect along with a clam pack of the great award himself. I'd love to see the dwarfs out on their own, not a fan of the dispossessed staying under human roofs- they need their own fortresses again.

Yes there is. He is revered to as one of the lesser gods that the Sylvaneth worship. And also some others like humans and aelves when they go on hunts. His worship is confined mostly to Ghyran. The rest of the information is almost all about the Kurnothi Hunters and the Wild Hunt.

That’s one of the good “problems” of AoS, there are so many interesting directions they can go, extend and update existing armies, Kurnothi, Malerion’s forces, Tyrion’s Lumineth, Grungni duradin, all kinds of vampires, stuff no one has on their minds like the insect faction we might see in Underworlds and whatnot.

I’m just happy that finally after 5 years I got “my” army, and no pretty much can relax and see what comes next.

Cheers for that! Yeah I really love that about AoS is how diverse it is [although it can be a pain to see if a certain faction materialises] - I totally love the Kharadrons and that was a faction that really surprised me. A single small set of the Kurnothi has me grabbed me too when the other aelven factions haven't. I'm interested to see what else comes along, especially more types of dwarf.

    I like that post!!

Is there any hint for wave 2 kits for AoS armies?

I mean, if your army can take any Fantasy models (or SCE), then your army probably has a lot of unique and diferent units to play with.

But if your army was 100% created in AoS, it probably has an small roster. And the only thing that I saw in the lasts years are the called  "soap battletomes" to create new "Big Armies" but this can only work in some armies like Orruks Warclans or even Malerion and Morathi Aelfs, but not sure if it will work for Fyrelsayers and KOs.

Theres been no confirmation or rumour of a second wave- they could continue making micro factions and exploring races, combining older factions together to streamline the ranges a little. I can't see Fyre Slayers and KO together, maybe with a new dwarf faction connecting them - maybe if the dispossessed re-possessed their old empire? The mentions of Grungni's endeavours are interesting but they sound like they are way off. I think we might see some new stuff/angles on dwarfs through Warcry and Underworlds in the meantime. There was one very very old rumour [from Warseer during End Times] of a mining machine- new dwarfs could focus on the mining/smithing/forging background of dwarfs since we have the slayer type and engineer type expanded into full factions.

. Tyrion and Kurnoth just have smaller entries along Teclis and Alarielle)

There is mentions of Kurnoth? I was kind of hoping he would get a mention in that Aelven Patheon article, even just the he is only mostly dead .. his forces are the only Aelf-type faction I'm holding out for.

On the dwarf side of things I'd hope they would have Grungni out on his own- he seems to have been working under Sigmar too much for my liking. I'd love some hints on the return of Valaya and maybe the lesser dwarf pantheon - Grombindal and Bugman..

In terms of releases Warcry really only holds any hope of something new to catch my eye - really interested to see how they expand the war bands available. I'd love to see Kurnothi but a dwarf one could be interesting - something like a dwarf ranger war band would fit or a Kharadron exploration/scouting force. The kits are a nice size so buying just for a single box without fully adopting the faction looks tempting.

Thanks man! Finally get to show you some of the stuff I guess, how are your own Kurnothi coming along?

Speaking of, gonna take a crack at the doggies next I think:

Wow love the hounds!! The horns and branches are excellent! I was thinking of using Fenris wolves as well- definitely would want to add a few forest additions!

My Kurnothi are coming along ok- I've converted 2 centaurs so far which I'm happy with and just working on a foot wych/warrior conversion.

Have you seen this thread where someone is working up a fan Kurnothi Battletome? It's got some nice ideas around the faction.

Maybe for linking Aos 2.0. with AoS 3.0? Another campaign/UD Battletome with the Quest as "micro-history".

Yeah could be.. they did that with Blackstone- started as Imperium vs chaos [8th edition ]and became Imperium vs Xenos [9th edition]. I wonder if they will do expansions like Blackstone ..
