    Looks great!

She looks fantastic! I was hoping for a reveal of the Kurnothi! I wasn't expecting her to be this Aelven though but she's still great! Funnily enough I have grabbed a Namarti reaver to convert into a Kurnothi scout as I thought that would still fit the theme..

But she looks great! Cursed City is just looking amazing model wise so far- I've loved everything I've seen!

I reckon they may do something like the DoK where you've got Khinerai & Melusai.

It could be standard Wood-Elf Wanderer style as the core them of the army, with the elite having "dialled up to 11" equine-sapien, Satyr or centaur aesthetic.

    Praise Kurnoth! 🐺🦌🐿

Could be - she still has a soul pod at her waist to link her to the others and there is the question as to wether the horns are worn or grown..

It has been pointed out elsewhere, that Kurnothi might be as varied physiologically as the Daughters of Khaine are. Some more animalistic, and some more Aelven.

Definitely the idea I'm getting .. really looking forward to see if they appear as a full force!

Wishlisting here, but I hope we get some cursed city/mordheim style ruined town terrain; possibly alongside or even with the box? Always wanted a set but been too intimated to make my own.

I thought that when I saw the illustrations - there has been a rumour of a price the same as the Necromunda box -which would make sense of it included terrain, not expecting it to but it is is possible. Would make the box expensive though.

    Regarding Kurnothi as a faction.

If we are ever to get them, I believe for a proper exploration of all themes of a Hunting deity, that a standalone faction is a must.  Forcing them to share battletome with Sylvaneth is a bad option in terms of lore, aesthetics and possible rules.  Kurnothi are the exploration of savage bestial aelves dedicated to a Hunter deity.

I would love to see in AOS 3. a story where Kurnoth is reborn truly and tried to make realm of Ghur his own. After all, there was a description in Orruk battletome that Ghur was once ruled by hunter kings and shape-changing beast lords.

Yep I'd love all that and let sylvaneth get new forms themselves. However there is the argument that there are too many factions so a sub faction might be more likely [although a few rumour folk stated they would be their own thing when they arrived]. They are essentially the Kings court vs the Queens Court- maybe a new title to cover both factions?

I love the idea of new beastly wood elves but I’d think they’d be an expansion to Sylvaneth. I hope they get rid of the fiery mowhawks too they look hideous especially on the shapeshifter cat it put me of getting the warband

I love the Mohawks! Reminds me of the first war dancer miniatures by Jes. They are more manes anyway..

I love the fact that first Halfling in AoS is wearing BDSM clothes and is a follower of Slaanesh.

Of course, Halflings will have new copyrightable name for their race.

I wonder where they will turn up next- CoS unit maybe or maybe as an unseen hero in Cursed city [or even undead/vampire halflings..]

Hmmm, I feel you on most of these points, but I will continue to stick my fingers in my ears and shout lalala until Malerion's Aelves release by pointing out that Necrons were featured in the final Psychic Awakening and then kicked off the new edition. As such, I am willing to believe that we will get Broken Realms Malerion/Grungni/Something else that will lead into the next edition. Yes Necrons were a pre-established range with rules and models... but... but...
    😢
    ...everyone wants Malus Darkblade back!

Well my reasoning that Malerions Aelves are a way off [and I'm thinking middle of 2022] is because GW will want to make a big deal about it and give it plenty of space. The Lumineth are still a big thing and then a big AoS v3 launch featuring destruction will carry the first 6 months. Malerion's faction will be probably the last major Aelven faction  [Kurnothi won't be quite a big a deal although they are what I'm looking forward to Aelf wise], so GW will have it as a prominent release the way the Lumineth where planned to be of AoS2 [mid cycle -ish].

So you might have to wait a little longer but you'll probably get a bigger release. .. to my thinking anyway ...

    Could be.

But so close to Broken Realms : Morathi and Daughters Of Khaine new Battletome ? And Lumineth Battletome and Broken Realms : Teclis ? And rumors of new Idoneth and Kurnothi ? I think he is far off. And what about Tyrion ?

Also, I was specifically referring to that Broken Realms article which only mentioned Morathi (check), Teclis (check) and Alarielle (... 😛).

BTW I like what they are doing with Broken Realms. I wouldn't mind having BR : Malerion, Tyrion, Kurnoth, etc. on top of the three books already rumored. I just don't think it's very likely !

Yeah it definitely looks that way to me - the 3 BR books setting up the new edition, hoping Alarielle brings news of the Kurnothi. Malerion seems further off, I think his faction will be the major order release in 3rd along with a  Grungni duardin faction. One thing I haven't seen are rumours of Kurnothi - plenty of hope so far [mostly from me!😂] - but maybe the Alarielle BR will establish him and his forces back in the lore .

AoS 3 seems to be Destruction vs ? I think CoS would be brilliant with some Stormcast and regular troops supporting them. Gravelords coming before or after 3rd is another question- could see them arriving before due to Cursed City and the potato cam reveal of the female vamp.

I can't see them not releasing  AoS v3 this year- their sales and finances depend on the the three year cycle and last year didn't stop them releasing the new 40k. AoS might be a little later than they had planned but I'm guessing definitely this year -Aug/sept?

That's 5/5 great sculpts from cursed city so far. I  Can't wait to see what else they show. The new Skeletons look like the would blend quite well with the sepulchral guard. I do hope though that they have a good variety of undead units. Some people weren't fans but I loved that in silver tower we got so many different enemy types. I wasn't impressed by  the decision to include 14 guardsmen in Blackstone fortress. I hope we get no more than 10 Skeletons and 10 zombies plus a good variety of weird undead creatures.

I am very happy that this is going to be a weekly thing. I wonder when we will see the final release. April?

Yeah I'm thinking an April release. On numbers I'd say 7-8 Skeletons and 14-15 zombies- definitely more Zombies than skeletons.. I wonder if there will be any big critters as well as small critters? Maybe ghouls we haven't seen yet as well? Theres also the possibility of expansions adding undead to the game - maybe a Vargulf type creature mirroring the Ambull set..

Really looking forward to seeing how they fill out the villains..

  8. These look fantastic! Really excited about Cursed City- the sculpts so far have been amazing, I'd be getting it as a collector/painter first so these really hit the spot.  I wonder how many you'll get in the box given there are the wolf/vamps and zombies as well.. Soulblight is looking very tempting...

Love the storyline as well, the Cursed Cryer looks to be a regular highlight of the week.. they showed more than I expected, thought we'd get just a hero and no minions.. but ts looking good so far!!

  9. A bit late to this but I'm very positive/optimistic hobby wise. I'm really enjoying seeing how the BR narrative is developing and looking forward to seeing the Slaaneshi and Lumineth factions expand [even though they aren't my thing]. I'm interested in the possible appearance of BR Alarielle, I'm hoping for a return of Kurnoth and the possibility of a Kurnothi faction/subfaction. I've a converted Kurnothi war band so the idea of adding more official models is something I'd love to see. The recent rumour engines have had something that looks very Tyranid and another which looks very Dwarf/duardin so I'm excited by what might be coming for my two favourite factions.

Cursed City is probably what I'm excited about most- it looks like a great setting and the models we've seen so far look amazing. It feels like a set I could buy and paint up and maybe get my old gaming buddy to play, he doesn't have much time now with having 2 young kids but this might be the perfect setting. The Soulblight also look very tempting and could get me back into my Vamp army.. so yes the future is looking promising!

Does anyone else suspect The Old World might turn out to be small scale models (like warmaster) or something?

Now they are talking about Kislev and Cathay, which is presumably in addition to the core old factions like Empire, Brets, High elves etc.

We'd be talking about a game as big as WH40k and AoS. Presumably needing at least two factions to come out at once to get it started.

I can't see how the specialist games team can run that or GW have the production capacity. Also arent they worried about splitting their playerbase?

I'm starting to feel like the old world is going to be something quite different and there could be some real rage when that difference comes to light.

Not sure.. on the one hand Kislev and Cathay allows them to release models that don't compete with existing older armies/AoS but then again they still probably need green skins and the empire etc to fill the setting out. But these factions give them somewhere to go. But yeah I did think Warmaster type scale is possible -especially as they did Araby there and it Ould be easy to fill out armies in plastic sets at that scale. If they scale to right and the models look great I'd be happy with that as well - huge armies.. very tempting.

Having said that they are marketing it as Warhammer so its more likely to follow the existing scale, which enables to use some of the old models to flesh out the setting [similar to the Lord of the Rings]. I think they are being quite ambitious with it and scaling it at 28/32mm gives them plenty of scope for where they can go- they can recapture some of the old Warhammer fans who didn't take up AoS and also get cross sales between AoS and Warhammer similar to 30k and 40k. Warmaster scale they have to make everything from scratch, current scale there are old and existing models they can use for the basis of armies, old terrain sets they can rerelease, plus a lot of goodwill they can recapture by the return of an old favourite.

  11. I definitely get a Dwarf/duardin feel off that- maybe a Grungni/Valaya new faction or norse dwarfs maybe? There is the shape of a mountain on the skirting/edge the shields are attached too. For some reason I get a Nordic/Russian feel to the marks with them [rather than the Celtic knottwork] .  Looks like it could be off the edge of a war machine  or war beast. Could be squats too..

But yes Dwarfs this week Nids last week.. the future is looking promising! Need some Kurnothi next to complete the set...

Hoping for Alarielle and a return of Kurnoth/Kurnothi through it..

Surprised no one's talking about this prophecy from the Gloomspite short story.

"You seek prophecy, wretch? You go to your death!’ he boomed. ‘The gate will shatter! The earth will tear! The sky shall eat the storm, and the serpent’s tide will rise! The Changer’s riddle is born anew by the splitting mirror of the Dark Prince!’"

The Storm is obviously God-king Sigmar and his forces. If you recall the "The Clobbering" story the Orruk at the end saw something massive moving through the skies of the realm of beasts.

Could be something new for Gordrakk's horde or the God-beast skull he has was locked away for a reason besides being big.

"The Serpents tide.." is Sotek still a thing? Could it refer to Seraphon? Could see them becoming prominent in 3rd ed. Really hope the earth will tear is Grungni's dwarfs. from the context these are things which doom the greenskins so it could well refer to order forces as well as chaos..Seraphon possibly taking on chaos, Grungni coming to Sigmar's defence and taking on their ancestral enemies makes sense.

So White dwarf has started a 6 part series of short stories covering the Wanderings of the titular White dwarf in AoS, which means the last one should be lined up nicely for book 4 or possibly 5 depending on release cadence. Could be nothing but a nice story, could be GW seeding the ground for a big Dawi release/reveal.

He is appropriately a bit sad about the state of the Fyreslayers, (in contrast to Gotreks contempt) so perhaps Old Grombrindal himself steps up to the godhood plate in an attempt to bring back the old ways? (Which all Dwarves know were better days :P )  I mean at this point he pretty much IS a god by AoS standards anyway, or we could see some development with the other Dwarf gods down the line. Could be interesting either way.

Also, with 4 Dwarf Cultures in AoS (And Chaos Dwarves not likely to get a positive visit!)  it implies there might be something other than a stop off at each.

Those sound great- I liked it wen he popped up in Pantheon, I'd love to read these but haven't bought WD in ages... The White Dwarf is kind of an Ancestor God [although this is more hinted at the fact that he's in AoS unchanged is something.] Could hopefully discover what Grungni has been up to and maybe traces/reappearance of Valaya. I definitely think AoS 3 will bring another dwarf faction led by Grungni..

Does anyone else think that the Wanderer style antlered aelf could be another Kurnothi?

It would be a good opportunity for them to start introducing their presence to the world.

I've attached the silhouette from the Beastgrave teasers ad my painted Skaeth's warband.

    Thoughts?

Yeah its possible- its either a Wanderer hunter but the kneeling leg looks a bit off [could be resting on the top of the boat] so it could be a Kurnothi making it a bit more AoS, the bow seems similar to the Beastgrave archer.. fingers crossed it is, I think they are potentially a great faction and I'd love to see more. They will probably make an appearance in BR Alarielle. Who ever it is they seem to be representing Alarielle as there is a lost Sylvaneth outpost in the city[similar to the Kharadron character and the lost  Kharadron outpost].

I really hoped it was Kurnothi. That would almost guarantee GW will release them as a full faction in the future. Hope they just don't stay as a single warband and that's it.

Me too- although it still might be- the way the front leg folds under itself in that illustration is strange for a normal leg- the foot would need to be extra long and wide..Could be taking the design of the Aelf ranger and changing it to more AoS as a Kurnothi hunter.

I think if Alarielle gets a BR book Kurnothi might appear/return there. [even if just in the lore before a later release].

I definitely see where you’re coming from as it threw me off however after re checking I’m still confident it’s an alternative build. The pose is the same I think it just looks like it’s coming off something. I’m willing to bet it’s the same core of the mount with variations, I think the leg armour isn’t attached to the leg so it can be bare. The head is different and the character on top is different which can explain the cape, the alt build also looks to have a flag.

if you imagine the regent at a different angel you can see the similarities, the tail had the same ring and shape, same leg pose, same tassels coming from the seat. It’s plausible to have a different head and character. I think it’s a £35-£60 miniature. Not huge but has options like a lot of other medium-big multiparty models.

from the new year tease there is 100% an alt build shown off too

Yeah I can see what you mean .. I’m not totally convinced but yeah there a lots of similarities. Look forward to seeing how it turns out!

  16. 11 minutes ago, SirSalabean said:

It is the same model with an alt build. The angel is different but the pose is the same and the tail is the same. Difference seems to be the rider (named character) and the head of the mount. 110% alt build though.

Don't think so-  the back leg of the mount is pushing off a rock outcrop and it looks like the tail is looping down behind it - the Lord Regents mount both rear legs are in the air the tail is high. Plus the character has a large tasselled cape covering the back of the mount not flying behind . Plus the mounts leading leg has no armour on it unlike the Lord Regent- its a different kit or a different mount build with a different character build which seems a lot for a duel kit but not impossible. There just seems to be a lot of differences.

  17. 13 minutes ago, The Brotherhood of Necros said:

If it is Tyrion, you can bet money he will be on a scenic base of some kind. From the silhouette, does that come across or is it the same mount and base as the mounted character that’s been revealed?

Yeah it looks like his mount is leaping away from a rock outcrop in the silhouette - also the mount has a longer neck, the tail is lower and the rider has a large cloak by the looks of things..

Yeah you could be right about the hunter - its more likely a Wanderer although the bow is very similar to the Kurnothi archer [and they do wear clothes- just not a lot!But I would have expected big hair from the Kurnothi too. It would fit that this is more a CoS type force..

We still have the cloud mage to be fully shown as well. The trailer at the start of the year showed the Lumineth regent with a red cloth on the mount not blue. With the helmet shown in the alternative build silhouette and red it could be Tyrion?

    D705F66C-E6D3-4ED9-A3F9-03419C8D758C.png

    D55B48DF-220C-4F28-AB2C-40AE3FA4C4DA.png

I just compared the silhouette with the revealed mounted character- they are totally different models not alt builds- that could be Tyrion and it would round out the release for Lumineth with a centrepiece box.

That preview was impressive-i expected to see a few more actual models but they teased a whole load more than that. Gobsmacked by the size of the Lumineth release- not my faction but exciting to see a faction get expanded so much- hopefully other factions will get similar attention.

The Vampire Underworlds war band are amazing sculpts - basically a set of vampire heroes in one box, that could be a really impressive range .

The Cursed City is the most exciting- hoping the Kharadron model is a new type  and really hoping that is a Kurnothi hunter with the Antlers - these two have overrun areas in the cursed city related to their factions. Looking forward to seeing the full range - could be tempted as a collector to pick up the game.

Looks like lots to come- I think they gave us just enough - its too early to reveal much more ahead of releases- I'm glad to have new content to look out for in the next weeks and months. By the sound of it I think Cursed City isn't that far away so hopefully we will get to see more from it soon.

Incidentally from the illustrated video the female character beside the "Wolf" seems to be holding the jagged blade from the rumour engine.

I really don't think we should look at Slaanesh and the Lumineth as an indicator of what's to come. Both of these updates seem more like something that got delayed from the original release (for whatever reason) rather than a "new" wave. With how they talked about the Lumineth before their release and how small the roster was compared to other new armies, it seemed to a lot of people like we weren't getting the full package, and lo-and-behold, not even a year later, we're getting stuff that the battletome was talking about as if it were already there. Slaanesh just so happened to release without the mortal half every other Chaos God had, only for it to come out in a completely unprecedented kind of release for an AoS army.

If a third army gets a "second" wave I'll believe there's a pattern, but right now I don't think we have a good enough idea of what's going on to say.

Just on your point about Lumineth getting a small roster- its not true- they got exactly the same number of kits as other releases other than a single character and mounted character being missing, in terms of big kits and unit kits they got the same as Idoneth, KO and Ossiarchs.

I wonder, since most of the factions are established now if this is GW starting to add to the original ones, Lumineth and Slaanesh getting expansions early as possibly they were first factions to be designed with an update in mind. The early factions of Fyreslayers/Sylvaneth/Ironjaws were designed when GW were pursuing lots of small factions which would be gradually cycled out over time, but as AOS has changed to a more army centric, rather than collector centric system  they are now beginning to expand the factions. Some of the earlier ones might need extra design work as they weren't planned beyond those initially releases. I'm guessing that with Destruction seemingly being the focus of AOS3 those factions will get added variety [rather than even more factions]- wolf riders added to Gitz etc.. Most factions are out now - only Grungni dwarfs and Malerion elves to come- everything else can be added as extensions/subfactions of existing factions bar the odd new factions? I'm expecting Kurnothi to be a subfaction added to Sylvaneth rather than a thing on their own.

Personally I'd rather get a couple of units/models regularly rather than wait until a full book revamp, single characters/clampacks are needed as well as they add depth to the characters available to armies. It would be nice to have more than one KO admiral for example, even getting other models to convert into him [which is why I love Bugmansson].

Most factions lack depth to different degrees so it will be great if they all start getting additions to their ranges.

  22. Basing materials - tufts/skulls - i like the ivy and I'm thinking of the ferns too. Spare bases maybe? Big brush /detail brush or some scatter terrain. The base paints that do the crackle effect could be handy and  Lahmian medium great for thinning paints, or gloss varnish to add a bit of pop and shine/slime.

I'm trying to avoid buying more models for a wee while [until the vampires/kurnothi/dwarfs arrive..]- scatter terrain would be the other option.

  24. Love that new Vamp! The new designs are fantastic! Love the big hair.. hope they keep this approach across all the vampires . That model is pretty much the Vampire model I have wanted to lead my armies for years... and I had been considering getting rid of my VC army..
