  5. Hi there,

I have been looking for a skirmish game to get into and from the generally positive reviews i have read, it seems Warcry could be the one.

How is the game holding up at the moment? plenty of replayability? My only concern was that it maybe appeared a bit simple, with lack of range it possibly just ending up  in a central melee each game.

I see the starter set is no longer officially available, but i assume that is still the best place to start if i can get a copy?

what should i then purchase after that?

    Many thanks!

Oh man!!! The ogor player needs to get his act together and suggest the scenario in the mawtribes book crazy fast. It’s amazing. OBR vs stormcast. Ogors are the mercs. 6 objectives and only OBR and stormcast can score points.
Before the game you write down who is willen to sacrifice the most wounds to appease the ogor player. After round two that agreement becomes undone and you buy the loyalty of the Ogors with victory points. Which is the only way they can gain points.
    It’s really fun.

if you can get your hands on the old fyreslayer book there is a great scenario as well. Basically it’s a dungeon crawler. Divide the table into 6 squares. The OBR and ogor player can’t see into squares the don’t have models in. As soon as a model moves into the next square the stormcast player sets up the next group of his army. The ogor OBR alliance snakes their way to the final square where the general is they aim to kill.
in the original scenario it was fyreslayers in a cavern and zombies falling from the ceiling. But narratively stormcast getting Lightninged in makes sense as well

have fun! And I got plenty more ideas where that came from ;)

    That's great, Thank you

Late to the party but for a future game with your friends and the Ogor army you can do the Mawtribes battleplan of two warlords going at it while trying to hire the third Ogor player's forces (or get creative and narrative use another mercenary force or even treat the Ogors like a endless spell that just keeps turning  control between the two players)

    GorkmawsGullet.png

"Two rival warlords locked in a long and bitter war each march on Gorkmaw’s Gullet, a vital mountain pass in the Ghurish hinterlands, intent on entering enemy territory and crushing their opponent at last. However, upon arrival, they find a band of notorious ogor mercenaries camped in the pass. Their delegations meet with the sellsword leader, who demands a tribute of flesh and bone if either side is to secure his services. At first, supplies and provisions are readily offered, but the mercenary lord soon turns his greedy eyes upon the camped forces, his stomach growling…

At daybreak, war horns blare as the early morning mist rises from the shadow of the pass. The ogor army feasted the night before and now stands eager to fight, but which of his would-be employers was desperate enough to offer their own soldiers in bloody tribute?

    TRIUMPH & TREACHERY
This is a Triumph & Treachery battle for three players. Use the Triumph & Treachery rules from the Warhammer Age of Sigmar Core Book. Secret Objectives are not used in this battle. Furthermore, players do not pick an opponent to be their enemy at the start of each phase. Instead, the following rules will explain which opponent is considered the enemy of each player.

    OBJECTIVES
This battle is fought to control six objectives. One objective is located in each player’s territory, as shown on the map. The Ogor Mawtribes player cannot control objectives this battle, and units from their army are not counted when checking to see if either Rival player has gained control of any objectives."

Late I know but Ogor-approved food for thought. ;)

This looks great. Is it from the ogor battletome?

Thralls and Reavers kits are seperate, so you can only build what you buy. Unless you're going to be doing some very heavy handed converting.

Both have their merits, though. Generally people will say Thralls, but Reavers aren't much worse in comparison.

Oh I see, thanks. I assumed they were multi part kits

  9. Hi all. I have recently purchased some IDK off ebay. I am more a hobbist and only play casually. I am wondering how to build a box of namarti I have.

Do people have strong views about whether thralls or ravers are better? Do both have a place?

  10. Hey guys. monitoring this thread as I am interested in starting a StD army. Got my eye on the Godsworn Battleforce box which still seems to be available in lots of places. Would people recommend that?

One thing putting me off is a bit of fear about the models. I am primarily a hobbyist, rather than a gamer, so I favour the new more dynamic models. The warriors look a bit uninspiring in single pose. But what is the rest of the army like? Is the manticore a good looking model?

FWIW i'd really like to see them build on the darkoath chieftain/warqueen models and the  new leaked warcry warband that looks similar. that would be an army aesthetic i could really get behind

  11. Hey chaps, just had my first couple of games with the reavers. I had a good close game against the thorns, but got absolutely crushed vs orruks.  I was struggling to get glory rolling because I needed upgrades to be able to take them out for glory, but needed glory for those upgrades! What objectives do people tend to use for the reavers?

I'm interested in the gitz and mollogs. Are they unpainted?

Edit :just realised NIB means new in box. So I'll take both warbands off you. I'm in london and can do paypal

Received. All good. Thanks very much

  13.
For sale one complete Fyreslayers army, which includes some dispossessed allies. There is about 2,500 points of models, so plenty of ways you can play them in a 2,000 point game.

All hand painted, with the whole army based in a matching lava effect.

The full army list is as follows:
    • Runefather on magmadroth
    • Runsemiter on magmadroth
    • Runesmiter
    • Runemaster
    • Battlesmith
    • Grimwrath Bezerker
    • Runeson with javelin
    • Runeson with waraxe
    • 20 vulkite bezerkers with pickaxes and slingshields (1 karl and 1 hornblower)
    • 20 vulkite bezerkers with double axes (1 karl and 1 hornblower)
    • 15 hearthguard bezerkers (1 karl)
    • 15 auric hearthguard (3 karls)
    • 2 gyrocopters
    • Chosen Axes
    • Runelord with scenic base
    • Fyreslayers battletome
    • 8 movement trays for 5 models each - perfect for using with the vulkite bezerkers
    • 2 KR carry cases with foam inserts to transport the whole army

RRP of all of this is about £600. I'd be looking for £900 for the whole lot. I would rather sell it all together, but appreciate that could be a big ask, so I may be willing to  break it up

I am willing to do a collection if you can get to London and want to avoid postage. I'd also happily give you a game with them if you want to see how they play/inspect up close

    Thanks for looking!

I'd like to see some wizards. I know dwarf wizards are unconventional but Malign Sorcery specifically mentions Fyreslayer wizards at one point and the rune tunneling and the volcano ability of the Runesmiter and Runefather are basically magic anyways.

Beyond that, more unit variety would be nice. I'd like to see a unit of armored fyreslayers for the sake of painting and visual variety (not sure how to justify it lore wise other than something, something, runes). Female fyreslayers would be nice just to make them feel like a more complete people (personal pet peeve when factions only have male miniatures).

I like the idea of cavalry but with maybe chariots? They could be used to give the fyreslayers a quick moving unit that hits really hard but lacks staying power. I also love the idea of a mega-chariot pulled by magmadroths for the sheer coolness factor.

I love chariots. Some fire chariots would look amazing

  15. I'd like to see more ways to dispell spells that fit with the narrative of dwarves hating wizards. The nighthaunt banshees have an ability that if they unbind a spell they get an extra attack. Something like that, representing how much we hate magic would be great

A unit with a wounds characteristic of more than 1 and some cavalry would be great. But I'm not sure how to picture that
