Whitefang also liked this post from you @madmac.
These two things together suggest Dawnbringers and not Warcry.
Yes, I think the rumour engine is separate from their ‘elf, but’ comment, which is just about what the next order Warcry unit is (elves but not DoK).

Then it has to be CoS being dark elven based, which would be quite surprising.
Why? Could be Lumineth, Idoneth etc
Edit: I don’t think the ‘elf, but…’ is related to the rumour engine (Obviously that’s elf related to but). It was just in reply to ‘DoK for Warcry?’

More likely new DoK hero for Dawnbringers, leading an anti Morathi faction.
FEC, Fyreslayers, Gloomspite, Nurgle, Ironjawz, Stormcast, Sylvaneth, Slaves to Darkness and DoK. That makes ten counting two hinted at by Whitefang.
Preemptive edit.
I'm still think "elf but" means Elf but not Warcry rather than Elf but not order.
I’m pretty sure it means Elf but not DoK as the next order Warcry band.
Edit: as madmac said, missed that.

Surely, GW must be bringing out a plastic butcher soon!!
If gorgers & butchers is themed army for dawnbringers 3, I will be gobsmacked if they don't release a dawnbringers style "Roving Maw" box with a new butcher and the gorgers kit (or possibly gutbusters?).
I’m pretty sure we’d have seen that in this preview alongside the Stormcast and Sylvaneth ones if it was a thing. Plus the photo they showed of the Mawpit thing had the old butcher on it.

Ionus Cryptborn is such an excellent model. I’ve already been tempted to do a dragon based Stormcast force and that really isn’t helping.

Yup. At moment it’s looking like it’s all the old kits which I’m not that excited about. When The Old World was announced with Tomb Kings, I was really excited as I was looking forwards to seeing new skeletons. Not that excited now. I’ll probably wait and see what comes out before jumping into it and I’ll focus on my Kruleboyz in AOS
Yeah. The idea of them not replacing the old skeletons is wild to me. They stopped me collecting TK when the 8th edition book came out, and that was 12 and a half years ago.

They really couldn’t have picked a different name?

The new Ardboys are so good. The other schemes look great as well. They’re proper menacing now.

I was kinda dimly aware that Ogors were a pretty new full army at the time, but I still could not help but feel even then that some of their models like the Yhetees and Butchers, were among the worst-looking ones in the GW line up.
Yeah for sure. Ogre Kingdoms was the first new release when I got into the hobby (that’s how I know when they came out), and even then I wasn’t impressed with the models you mention. The army idea was sick though. I remember over a few White Dwarf issues there was a short story of an empire caravan going through the mountains, written as a diary. They’d hired Ogre guides/guards and encountered other tribes on the way. Very cool!

The old Gorger was a model that I clearly remember looking at in 2008 or so and thinking "Wow, this guy sure looks old and ugly." It only took them 15 years to replace him, but at least it was worth it.
Which is funny, cos they only came out in 2005!
-
It’s not AoS, but Daemon Fulgrim might be the best model they’ve ever put out. I really don’t envy the eventual plastic one having to follow that.
The new Ironjawz stuff is excellent. I was worried the Ardboys would be just brutes-lite, but they look well differentiated (and a lot better in my opinion). I think my biggest issue is how much better a lot of this second wave is to the first! Roll on second waves for other small armies (also free rules supplement for them is a nice touch).
Im a little torn on Trugg. It’s cool but I think there’s a bit much going on. New Gorgers are obviously a huge glowup from the one they had. Both underworlds bands are very cool. This was a really good preview overall, plenty shown and there’s nothing I dislike.

I think a new varghulf sculpt is a given if we do get a big refresh, that things from like 1990 and looks hideous.
As dekay says, it came with the 2008 vampire counts book, alongside like the skeletons that were just replaced, the corpse cart. It didn’t look great even then.

While to me the 1st wave of Ironjawz hold up really well, the preview of the Maw Grunta compared to the Gore Gruntas shows how much better they can do.
It's very exciting times for sure.
Oh yeah the Gore Grunta’s do not look good now. I mean I didn’t like them anyway, but now there’s a direct example of the same idea done much better, in the same army.

Anyone think that the two flanking orruks on the maw-grunta are the new ardboyz?
There was like a page long debate about it a few pages back.

For me personally I hope COS Dark Aelves and DOK get put into Malerions Faction. Not everyone agrees I know but it makes sense rather than 2 Grimdark Aelven Factions.
I also want it because I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE WHAT GW DOES WITH MODERN DARK AELVES. SHADOW DAEMONS, MONSTERS, MIST.
The fact that I can’t wait to see what GW does with modern dark aelves is exactly why I don’t want CoS elves and DoK to end up in Malerions faction. I want to see something new, not hamstrung by old models.

I don’t really know how I feel about the whole Cities range now we’ve seen it all, but I absolutely know that this last batch is definitely my favourite of the lot. The command group and mounted commander are phenomenal.

Nova will probably be pretty sparse now then, at least for AoS. That’s my biggest issue with leaks like this, it generally affects a preview down the line.

That is a gorgeous model. Looks like a painting.

But the armour looks more Imperial than anything, that kinda ribbed look I’m sure I’ve seen in Necromunda and it’s not dissimilar to the ribbed mining stuff of the GSC.
-
I just don’t think the armour or anything looks particularly Kroot like, even though the hand structure is similar. That said I would love a Kroot update.
