@Carrion King what do you think about my list? It’s similar to yours ( blood and glory event).

    realm:ulgu

    tidecaster 100

    -general

    -born from agony

    -steed of tides

    soulscryer 100

    soulrender 100

    Aspect of the storm 400

    -doppelganger cloak

    2 x10 reavers

    20 thralls

    2x6 morrsarr

    fuethan

    tot 2000

im thinking to play reavers to defend points. 20 thralls with scyer and render placed into the see. With them I can attack behind opponent army. Morrsarr and aots can try to run and charge turn 1 and try to destroy opponent front line.

what do you think about it?:)

Looks fine man but i’m always hesitant to run eels in units of 6 rather than 9. Then don’t zap enough and can be removed quite quickly!

This list doesn't have an Eidolon. Are you perhaps hinting at swapping  out 3x Morsarr  & King to make room for it?

Asking since I'm curious about the Eidolon list as well :)

Haha yeah i realised that after I sent it that it wasn’t my blood and glory list! I ran basically that but had khineri heartrenders also!

I was outdropped by them in the game I played so no choice there.  It didnt help that he rolled a 13 on the Vortex spell so I couldnt even attempt to unbind it.  I'm also still not entirely sold on reavers, they either seem to do okay for me or absolutely nothing but are never great.

We're starting up a semi-competitive campaign here soon though so i'll finally get some more game in, i've had like 3 games total since LVO.

Reavers take time and it does take a while to get to know them. Plus they help a lot against Gristlegore

A bit of a broad question but how many drops do most of you find your skaven opponents to have?  I have never played them and my list currently sits at 6 drops.  I have not heard of any skaven battalions, more just the vortex, verminlords etc.  so I have no idea of actually builds being used.

Most lists I know are around 7-8 but some Plague Monk lists can drop to 6.

How are people finding the skaven matchups with Deepkin?  I've played a couple games and had a pretty rough time against them, granted one was at 1000 points and the second was me trying out @Carrion King-like list which I struggle a bit with compared to my normal list.

The lightning vortex is ridiculous and did the majority of the damage to my army both games, poor setup on my part in both games as I didnt really know the range of it.  But I also struggle to kill off all the clan rats and hold objectives.  Just curious how everyone else is doing with this matchup?

This is why it is important to be at a low drop. Turn 1 you can be into Skaven and likely take off most of the Rat troops. They will very unlikely Vortex themselves!

Thanks for the responses James. Tbh I was under the influence of some sort of febrile delirium thinking the soulscryer reduced the amount of drops in the list by allowing his friends to count as 1 drop with him. Personally I like 18 eels more than 24 anyway.

Key is to enjoy your games, enjoy the army! If your ever at an event I’m at, Come chat Deepkin with me anytime!

I’ve been looking at James Tinsdale’s list recently, which placed pretty well at the most recent event he took it to. It is attached at the end of this post.

Three things I’m not sure I’m sold on (James if you’re reading this please convince me)

    1) Namarti corps. Extra artifact great. Less drops love it. Basically only costs 50 points (although a tough sell with needing a fourth Namarti unit so maybe the real “cost” is closer to 190)

    2) Soulrender over a second soulscryer. Is the regen on units that I presume are basically going to salute and die worth giving up eel deep strike flexibility (and potential +6 on charges if the stars align)?

    3) Do we really need an extra command point? We get one first turn anyway and the eels can deep strike. Do eels evaporate so fast that we need 2 to stop battleshock before our second hero phase?

People who aren’t James feel free to wildly speculate or throw out educated opinions. I’m thinking about going more down the eel spam route  for my competitive list (I desperately love the model so it’s great)

    I’m thinking: (Fuethan)

    Tidecaster (General, born from agony)

    2 x Soulscryer (1 with cloud)

    2 x 9 morrsar

    6 morrsarr

    3 x 10 thralls (or maybe 2 thralls 1 reaver)

    2k on the dot

Would love to know why this isn’t better than James’ list (I assume he’s playtested and it’s not)

Hey @Luke1705 Thanks for checking out my list! I see you have a few questions! My boi @N_Watson seems to have covered my decision go go to 5 drops for Sheffield Slaughter (3rd), Heat 1 (1st) , my local 1 Dayer (1st) and recently this weekend the Justice GT (8th). I’ve lost 2 games all season. Both to Gristlegore piloted by top players. This is one of the primary reasons to be low drops.

    However to your points:

    1)  The tax is irrelevant. It’s the only functional battalion we have that allows us to have 3 scoring heroes in arcane places of power. Not to mention it reduces the list to 5 drops. Reavers are not a tax. They are our answer to Gristlegore and need to be learnt. There is simply a difficulty curve in using them. I know many deepkin players arn’t me but trust me, learn to use this unit. 2 attacks each in combat and can be screens.

    2) I rarely start my Eels off the board. The ability to move 20’ first turn and charge with +3 can hit any unit. Coming on limits your options. For a while a second scryer has been redundant for me. The Render can fight in combat and restoring models can keep your thralls in the fight and score objectives otherwise lost.

    3) Yes command points are super important. Having 2, going to 3 turn 1 means you can guarentee your eels 20 if you need to. Not to mention inspire a screen against 1 drop Sylv alpha before restoring the unit in your turn. I cannot emphasise enough how useful these are to our army.

In regards to your list, I ran something similar with a Storm and some Heartrenders at Blood and Glory last year. Play what you enjoy!

See you on the Sea’s Deepkin bro x

  9. Hey guys!

I’ve been reading through the posts and seen confusion as to whether or not High Tide goes before Mr Gristlegore. After my Game with Mr Johnson I can 100% confirm Mr Gristlegore goes first in both turns. Forever and always.

The new FEC book is strong but the meta will counter it for us. We just need to be ready when we raid ghoul shores.  Having played FEC twice now at Sheff Slaughter I took a lot from my loss into game 5 where I beat Gristlegore.

Here’s a few tips I think can help:

    1. Ignore the General. Deploy 27’ away turn 1 leaving them unable to declare a charge.  Ask and measure your threat ranges.

    2. If the general has monstrous vigour spell, prioritise this over unholy vitality as your unbind attempt.

    3. Deploy a boat in your deployment zone and a scryer in order to better have a successful ritual and disable fly.

    4. Deploy your boats 6’ infront of objectives in certain scenarios to protect against pile ins.

    5. Play the mission. It’s a 4 model army and we can easily be up on scenario by the time the Dragon catches up to us.

    6. Hit the Arch Regent and his 20 ghoul body guard. Left unprotected normally and can take away support casting.

    7. Split your eels. Either side of the board. The general can’t be everywhere at once and it makes him choose. The other 9 eels should be able to fight the other dragons.

    8. Keep an eye on their command points. Each feeding frenzy burns one.

    9. Under no circumstances charge the general in our turn. Do not feed him outside of his turn.

I’m at Heat one this weekend and if anyone wishes to chat Deepkin (looking forward to it Dante) then just approach me! I expect to see you all on the top tables!

    Go for it

I'am probably taking almost all-Snake DoK army (Morathi, Bloodwrack Shrine, 2x20 Blood Sisters) ;)  and it also remains to be seen. Maybe we will play against each other. See you !

Would love to talk deepkin over a beer man. Anytime x

I know that James Tinsdale has amazing results and more consistent then any other Deepkin player but I only brought up Les to show that you can have good results without Thralls. And it's good that there are different lists

And good luck with your lists at Heat 1.

maybe we will meet at battlefield as I am taking my Daughters of Khaine to Heat 1

I did consider 30 eels and a King for heat 1.  Maybe I will bring it! Hard to leave my thralls at home though...

    See you at heat 1!

  12. General - GUO

    Breath. Gift. Bell. Flail.

    Favoured Poxes.

    Rotty

     Afflictions

    Festus

    Plague Squall

    Horty.

    2 x 30 PB's.

    1 x 10 Kings.

Obviously I was 7 drops. I had a tough run of games starting with Seraphon Engine spam, Tony Moore's Daughters, Pano's Khorne, Nagash and Ben Johnson's Nighthaunt!

So Blackout and BOBO have been and gone and things seemed very quiet on the Nurgle front. Does anyone have any info on whether any Nurgle lists placed well?

If not, how do we fare against the lists that did well at both events?

I was on table 1 against Ben for game 5 with my Nurgle. Sadly though I played the Scenario pretty poorly and it got away from me. I wanted to bring it home for us but after playing 4 games very well, the heat and exhaustion took it's toll on me :( Debating whether or not to take my Nurgle to Eggs, see if I can grab that one.
