    great effort, thanks for sharing.

just in case you're not aware of them, Grand Exemplar has put up his 'Shardsfall' rules which go further with the Mordheim vibe and might help out with your own project:

If I'm honest, I completely forgot I wrote them lol

Love the heide knight aesthetic, was wondering how long it would be until someone ran with it :)

I just hope they go as planned, Tzeentch Willing. I hope to make some on the palador mounts as well I really like how they look and can see them looking like suitable Tzeentch Warrior/Knights. Weapon wise ill probably look at the tzaangor spare weapons and shields.

  3. Im going to have a bash at converting some warriors from the storm cast. Like i said in my previous post ive been waiting some time to see some. My idea though is using the tissue-paper/newspaper plus pva to make some large and tattered cloaks for my tzeentch warriors.

Im thinking of using the Shadow Warrior helmets due to the sleekness plus they have the neck part of the cloak ready sculpted. I dont see warriors of tzeentch being too grim as such, more like fallen warrior scholars. Similar to the Heide Knights from Darksouls. Im also waiting for the sisters of silence miniatures to be readily avaliable for other conversion ideas.

Should anyone have any ideas how to do the helmets as the picture please let me know :)

I'm really glad that GW released the Stormcast Eternals. Not because I want to make an army of them, but because I'd been searching for some good quality 28 mm heroic scale foot knights for conversion work for an age.

Here's the first of my Liberator to chaos warrior conversions - hand weapon and shield, undivided.

I had thought that he was complete, but looking at the photo, I need to add something between the right shoulder pad and the breast plate - probably a little chain mail.

The plan is to eventually have 10 sword and board, undivided chaos warriors, each a different model. They'll be painted classic black and metallic and should tie in visually with Varanguard.

    Comments welcome.

@UrbanJesus - thanks for the feedback. I take your point about scale mail - not traditionally very chaos. However, scale mail will feature heavily on my Tzeentch models, and occasionally on my Slaanesh models, so I'm hopeful that it'll look OK on the odd chaos undivided miniature too.

For Khorne and Nurgle marked warriors though you're spot on. It is relatively straight forward to remove the tabard on the Stormcast Liberators, but it's a bit more time-consuming to remove the pteruges. It is worth the effort though - I'm quite happy with how this w.i.p. Khorne chosen is coming along.

This has made my ideas for tzeentch chaos warriors possible. I was waiting to see a convertion of stormcasts to Chaos warriors. Do the knight shoulder pads fit nicely?

I have plans for the paladors to become Knights Of Tzeentch as well :)

Deep in the realm of Ghyran lies the Whisperwhile forest. Withered oaks and sickly ash trees encircle the Bitterbile lakes, whilst the rest of the forest is covered with lush green flora. Trees bigger than watchtowers and deadly plants as far as the eye can see, added with the warm climate and pockets of realmstone make this the ideal place for many strange animals and beasts to roam. Deep in the forest lies the Fogshroud Realmgate, which leads to the great trading sky islands of chamon, which is where the main sky ports of the realm of metal are located.

If one travelled for three days due north into the forest, (not easy when everything, including the plants, think you are its next meal) they would come across Fort Ironfist. Built many years ago when the warrior chamber of the Anvils of the Heldenhmmer, the Ironfists pushed the tides of chaos out of the forest, it stands as a fearsome bastion, sitting above the surrounding trees on a spire of great rock. The Stormcast that guard the fort are experts in finding their way through the forest, slashing at vines with their storm sabres and burning away deadly plants with their lanterns. Despite this, there are many hollow suits of sigmarite armour encased in tree trunks, where the tree's magical properties have prevented it from returning to Azyr.  The Ironfists live up to there name, and the the areas around the fort are ruled ruthlessly. If Lord Celestant Koronus Ironfist so much as smells the taint of chaos in the air, whole acres of the forest will be burned down, for it to regrow in a week or two.

Many small warbands live in the Whisperwhile forest however. It is said that a shadowy figure stalks the forest, as big as a Stormcast but clad in a black cloak. He carries a huge sword and crossbow of prestigious size, and it is said that wherever he goes, the lands are purged of the taint of chaos and foul magics. Sometimes, Lord Castellant Typhon Baleface will wonder the forest with his loyal Gryph-hound and his band of retainers, searching for anything deathly, or chaotic, but he often finds nothing. The spirit lord is said to walk the forest at night, accompanied by his band of spectres and spirit hosts, or raising retinues of skeletons or zombies to do his bidding. A heavy mist accompanies him wherever he goes, and he often whispers necrotic secrets to anyone willing to listen. The tree tribes of the forest live in the highest treetops they can find. They are primitive and use poisonous weapons, and are clad in the fur of those mysterious beasts they have killed. Deep underground are the great duardin tunnels, which are said to spread throughout all of Ghyran. Nobody knows what secrets they hold, but some say the duardin that live there hold a dark one...

This is great inspiration for warband creation. :)

  6. Well I've done my first conversion. The picture might not be great and more will follow. Its still a slight work in progress.

My Fatemaster or should I say Fate mistress.

Built the halberd by drilling through the fingers. And yes she has three arms though you can't really see the third just yet. She is also on a disc of Tzeentch but as its late thought I'd share one picture :)

We are finding the same thing, I think that might be a really good solution. We now have people in our groups trying to play as many wizards as possible that have spells that are similar to arcane bolt (such as different battlemages).

We had a group of 8 players at our local store playing today, and the biggest talk of the day was how to deal with wizards.

You could check out my Shardsfall rules regarding wounding and taking out of action. Ive made it so saves can be taken against them, but should the roll on the table ignore saves then no saves can be taken.

You could always do it so you can save vs Mortal wounds due to the scale of the game.

  8. My issue with warbands at the moment is that I really want a Tzaangor Shaman and Warlord on foot and Tzaangor archers on foot should be a thing. Im not sure how to do this (converting isnt the issue the kits are quite interchangeable) so rules wise im a little stumped.

Horrors I dont really want to convert, Im also considering the idea of an Order character gone rogue with Daemon summoning, but im not too sure who would be suseptible to Tzeentch's favor.

Plus I've got some chaos knight conversions planned with the yet to be released Stormcast Gryff knights and the Star Eagles (I think the current warriors and knights of chaos are too gritty for Tzeentch, I see them looking less skully and more knightly but with mutations.)

Though I keep posting plans and beeing very Tzeenchian they keep changing, I will eventually get some models converted or at least the horrors painted for the thread :)

  9. I really need to get moving with my warband building. Theres so many nice thing on this thread!

For a tzeench warband you would think converting would come naturally, however its really difficult! A friend just handed me a start collecting Tzeentch Daemons set and an ogroid thurmaturge as well. ~Which gives me alot more to build than expected.

Just out of interest theres two questions i have. Does anyone know a good place to get bird heads or bird shaped helmets for some chaos warriors. And secondly (not PETA related :P) a technique for removing the fur details from the warriors of chaos shoulders and extending their cloaks over the houlders. (they will be painted in a similar scheme to the Heide knights from Darksouls 2)

    Gratzie :D

Just thought I'd set up a page for the Shardsfall Ruleset. So you can post up warbands, let me know what you think of the rules which were very inspired the Hinterlands rules by bottle, and the Mordheim rules of old.

Im currently working on an expanded exploration chart, as well as warbands like the old Mordheim warbands (mainly due to the massive changes to Warhammer/AoS) though these may not neccessarily be needed.

Hope you all enjoy the rules, let me know if you have any suggestions!

    Useful Links

My thanks to bottle for the Shardsfall Banner :)

  11. This looks interesting. Ill try and gey something done for this. Going by your idea suggestions I really like the idea. I have a Lord Castellant which is dying to be assembled and painted.

The childlike Oracle of Shyish can taste the taint of Chaos in the blood of men and women. Under the watchful eye of her immobile, silent Stormcast guardian, thousands of pilgrims bring her offerings in a hope to prove their purity.

Im thinking more Diorama rather than warband (Though I may link AoS28 into the campaign I'm running in April with a modified Hinterlands ruleset)

    Darksouls inspiration inbound :P

  12. I'm happy to share I've always loved skirmish games with character growth, its taken on more of a Mordheim flavour, so becomes more complex. Ive never posted anything for download on the fourms so I will have to figure out how :P

Its a mixture of some of your original but tweaked rules, some modified Mordheim rules, modified Mordheim scenarios. Slightly modified movement rules. I cant take credit for how some of the rules are written as they have come from the Mordheim rulebook, but I've modified them in a way which is compatible with Age of Sigmar. (or so I think) I'm happy to collaborate and together maybe we can create Modern Mordheim so to speak.

Regarding the name of my rule set. Ive called it Shardsfall, as a meteor of pure magic (relevant to the Realm) has crashed into the wilderness and shattered into the Wyrdshards. The alliance leaders want to accumulate these shards to give them a magical edge in the Realmgate wars. But rather commit armies to the cause (more important battles for armies to be involved with) they have sent small groups of warriors to collect these shards. Be it in ruins, wilderness or even underground.

  13. Looking forward to the read.

As far as my campaign goes I've made a few personal tweeks to the original rules. Such as limiting wizards for example and making Mortal Wounds into Auto wounds without rolling rather than ignoring saves completely.

Ive also taken some of the mordheim flavour in the form of critical charts (might make mortal wounds auto crits), Parry and an injury chart. So just by reducing a model to 0 wounds doesnt neccessarily mean hes out of the fight.

Good work Bottle. Im happy to share my ruleset with you if you would like a look, once they are finished of course. :)

  14. Looking forward to the update. Im intending to use these rules in a fairly large Campaign in naming Shardsfall. Both in my local store and the Games Workshop in Bromley. The Roster will be a life saver as ve been trying to put one together but so far no luck! and 5 Scenarios will add additional variety to the games. Im also working on a table of Mortal Realm random events for each of the 8 Mortal Realms. (If anyone has done so already send me a link)

Keep up the good work, its been written really well. :)
