What is the general consensus or thoughts on the Chimeras?

I've got 3 from back in old fantasy days and now that BoC and and monsters can be fielded as an army again Im quite interested in a monster mash type list.

any suggestions on how to go about doing that?

I really want to add a Chimera too,

Anyone have any thoughts on their use?

Also, do I bother making your standard bearers etc.? Just don’t want to waste money making models I effectively wouldn’t come to use.

Always make your unit upgrades, they are free and give benefits.  If you are using a unit of 30 then you dont NEED 3 banners, but its allowed and doesnt hurt as if they are scattered around the unit it means you can be more flexible removing casualties without losing their benefits.

Yeah unfortunately it would be strictly for friendly games...for now...but the hope is that in future it becomes official.

We really need to start a 'Kharadron wishlisting/fixing' topic, so much discussion in here about stuff that isnt current rules and its not often obvious.

Oh yay spamming 80 +infantry and having stormcast externals is clearly what the army is about. Spammy horde armies. Yeah I have gone into this with others but the real issue is none of their units have any flavor and their lists don't look or play like KO. So less of a buff then a reorganization to make ships way better.

Thats pretty much how every army is at top level, but i agree it would be nice to have some actual flavour put back into them. Who knows when that will be.

Question, can I do a relictor bless weapons on a ballista?   I’m sure it’s not as good as putting it on a big unit with lots of attacks,  but I’m just curious. So if I understand it, each hit roll of 6 would be 2 x d6 hits  cuz each hit is already d6 hits and bless weapons doubles up the hits if you roll a 6.

But the ballista warscrol says it is d6 hits for every hit roll that scores a hit by the ballista.  And bless weapons isn’t a hit roll per say. So if you roll a 6 on a hit, would that mean it’s d6 hits + 1. Or is it 2x d6 hits?

    Thanks!

Think this is covered in the lastest FAQ, bonuses only apply once so it would probably be d6 hits + 1.

They're beautiful all painted up, such a shame. At least he can play them in Open/Narrative.

He might be being rather over pesemistic.  Its unlikely Elves will be redone before the GHB and we dont yet know if any unavailable models for Grots or Skaven will be removed from that anyway, so its likely youve got 6months minimum, probably 18months or more.

  7. That FEC book looks pretty thin, obviously its just a mockup render but hope its got some reasonable content. Was quite disappointed when my Nighthaunt book dropped through the door on release day, felt like it would double in thickness if they included the 4 pages of rules.

Thing is having 5 Aelf factions that are all small armies with very niche focuses within them runs the risk that you will get many who only play 1 of those 5. This means that GW has to release something new/updated for each of the 5 every so often to keep those gamers interested. Long term you can end up losing playesr because an army hasn't seen an update in years because you've got another 40 armies in the same game.

Thing is if these players are not buying new armies, they are not a great revenue stream, so losing them is not an issue (from a business perspective), you lose gamers all the time for many reasons.  You get far more revenue from creating new big exciting things and people buying new armies than you do people buying a new unit for an existing army.

I agree from a community perspective its great to keep friends in the game, but that wont keep you business growing.

GW being able to do big detailed models in plastic does put ForgeWorld in a weird spot. Aside from super giant stuff like titans, it doesn't make a ton of sense for FW to be doing Great Unclean One sized centerpiece models for mainline games(i.e. 40k and AoS) when GW proper can do them in plastic cheaper and get better distribution and thus more sales.

I think for the most part it makes sense it makes sense for them to do very few models at a smaller sizes for 40k or AoS just because they can sell more if they're in plastic. The best place for FW is probably is specialist games like HH or special characters for smaller games like Necromunda, MESBG, and Bloodbowl where they won't sell as many. Outside of titan level stuff and really small niche things like alternate heads or weapons, I think modern manifacturing and model design has left FW behind for very large(as in player base and sales) games like 40k and AoS.

Hoping FW pick up on some sort of Hero line, like HH but for AoS (and 40k).  The heros from the books that have not (and will not) get plastic models.  Would fit their capability, freelance approach to small models and customer interest.

Latest rumour image from GW. Looks like some kind of piston or driving shaft. Some kind of pump system, perhaps linked to terrain for Necromunda or 40K. Could also be something for AoS as its fairly standard and simplistic design on the metal - functional and could easily fit into KOverlords.

The latest Voxcast (that alternative to Stormcast podcast but for that other inferior game system :D) mentioned race specfic scenery was becoming more of a thing for 40k, so this is most likely (in my eyes) an Imperial Promethium station for the Astra Militarum.   OR, even more likely, its a Dispossessed mining cart, the replacement for Steam tanks :P

I don't know if it's true, but I've heard that FW now will be making only HH and Specialist games. No new things for 40k or AoS. Is that true @RuneBrush?

I would imagine they will continue to do one-offs,  certainly they seem to have scaled back on 40k compared to other systems.  I hope they do some AoS, i really want Stormcast upgrade packs, and KO packs or vehicles would be beyond amazing!  But im cool with them not churning out loads of options and new units with crazy OP rules and points 🤣

I'm sort of worried that FW disbanded the idea of separate delivery teams before, it seems, the separate delivery team could deliver anything for AoS save for a handful of heads for Stormcast. I wonder what the rational behind that change was and I wonder what will come in the future. Chaos demons are always easy for them because they fit both game systems without any issues.

It's just really odd to me and I wonder if FW hasn't either found itself stretched too thin with the rising popularity of specialist games that they found they couldn't afford/staff two separate teams (very possible) or that they just don't have any fantasy designers left within their ranks and that they are all heavily sci-fi/Dune/space focused to the point where they either can't come up with ideas or even lack the skill set to achieve them (eg AoS makes far more use of human poses and monsters - both of which are likely very different sculpting skill sets).

Maybe they just dont want to branch AoS into Forgeworld stuff in a big way?   They seem to be back on the 30k train, and with specialist games also getting a lot of support they might be scaling back developing a lot of stuff for 40k and AoS.  The last things they produced for 40k were a Necron Knight sized thing and the Primaris supertank (ok so the new titan is also 40k but primarily 30k).

I wonder if there are any more rumours for Forgeworld stuff that went under the radar, and might indicate what they are planning.  Those Stormcast heads kinda came out on nowhere.

Thanks for the reply, do you mind expanding on the logic behind the 10 man sequitor squad? Are there bonuses with squad size or is it just a bigger stick kinda deal?

These are about all the models I own so in terms of filling that 160pts I’d either be going shopping or looking for a battalion. If I were looking for another model/unit what would you suggest? I could pick up a second Knight incantor for some more hero phase shenanigans or another HQ for buffs maybe a Gav?

Have you got any spells? either Malign sorcery or stormcast ones.  They are good fun and with 2 Wizards you could probably get some good use out of them, dropping the Ordinator for a couple of cheap spells would be my change to the list.  If you know which you might want you can pick them up individually on ebay or similar, cheaper than the full box set if you dont need all of them or the Malign Sorcery book.

Yai I understand your point and re-reading my reply i seem very aggressive but that's not the case, i struggle to translate in english my "tone".

I do agree  that Evocator are worst allies then Riggers if we put them in the "Dipo-ally basket" but i'm still on my idea that we have better options for mobility ally and that out of allegiance riggers are not super performing. By the way in those years i learned that differents "pilot" on the table can get different results with the units they field. Maybe i struggle to see the strenght of the Riggers compared to other cause my playstyle is different then your!

For istance i very like what the Steam Tank bring to the table, can run to objective and setup a countercharge for slow units, others in this post do not like it and would never bring it to the table.  😋

Sorry again if my post was badly written!

The real question is, why no dispossessed at Cancon and under representation at other events?   And what are we going to do about it!

I wont get mine complete for my next event but hope to get them done for a few later in the year.  Just ordered 20 Ironrakes 😁

All battalions have the allegiance of their grand alliance too is the major distinction. I can't remember where this was written and I'm at work so I can't search at the moment but it came up when people weren't sure about whether or not the Everchosen battalions can be used at all anymore since the units inside weren't Everchosen units.

Yep.  Its all in the core rules FAQ

    https://whc-cdn.games-workshop.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/Core-Rules-and-Bases-Sizes-EN.pdf

Battalions have their Faction Allegiance keyword (odd fact, its not actually written on any of the Stormcast ones in the new battletome)

Battalions have their Grand Allegiance keyword.

All units within the Battalion gain the battalions faction Faction Allegiance keyword.

I'm not trying to be argumentative  but it seems to me if the design intent was to enforce more esoteric lists they would have stated such explicitly. Further, considering that Free Cities do have specific allegiance abilities/traits wouldn't it be equally legal to take those as opposed to native constituent faction(s)? I admit I'm not really familiar with anything other than order so I might be missing something regarding why they wouldn't let you simply choose between native AA versus Firestorm AA.

    Unfortunately what people are saying is correct.  If your army composition lets you take (example) Stormcast Allegiance, you must take it. You cannot take Order Allegiance, and therefore as you are not Order Allegiance you cannot add Free Cities Allegiance.  To get around this there are 2 options;

    1.  Take allies not in your faction allies table (this option doesnt work for Stormcast obviously as they like everyone)
      1. Note this would mean no battleline-if would be allowed as you would not have that allegiance.
      2. Factions without any allegiance abilities (Order Draconis for example) can only take Order Allegiance abilities, its currently unclear if this lets them take Free Cities Allegiance as they technically have an Oder Draconis Allegiance (and battleline-if) but just use Order Allegiance abilities.
    2. Take no more than 1599 pt (in 2000 pt battle) total of main faction, so breaking you allegiance.
      1. Note this would mean no battleline-if would be allowed as you would not have that allegiance.
      2. Note to ensure final army met free city criteria minimum of 1600pt would need to be spent on factions from the free city.
      3. Although now free cities can take allies, so upto 400pt of your army could still be any Order ally.

Examles;  (as above this assumes no Battleline-if are used)

    • Tempest Eye Allegiance - Legal (Stormcast below legal for their allegiance, dispossessed and Stormcast are tempest totalling 1800pt, Btreonnians are legal Tempest allies)
      • 1500pt Stormcast
      • 300pt Dispossessed
      • 200pt Bretonnians (Order allies)
    • Tempest Eye Allegiance - Not legal (Army is valid for Stormcast allegiance as Bretonnians are legal allies for Stormcast)
      • 1800pt Stormcast
      • 200pt Bretonnians (Order allies)
    • Tempest Eye Allegiance - Legal (as Bretonnians are not legal allies for Dispossessed, but are for Tempest eye)
      • 1800pt Dispossessed
      • 200pt Bretonnians (Order allies)

Has anyone thought that the grundstocks being a pmc basically should have unified color scheme apart from that of the baraks? Like what happens when units that were working with ziflin get shifted to mhornar? Do they repaint all their gear or what?

Yeah I asked that a while back.  I think there are Grundstocks in the skyports so they share colours, but there is no reason (given paint isnt a rule) you cannot make up your own approach.  Im planning a frigate and Thunderers unit to be a different scheme to my fleet as they will be a rogue captain/contractor working for my admiral.

    I gotta ask about Sylvaneth.

Their warband as a Treekin dude with a bow, we can assume a new unit to expand their small range is coming. any news on that?

Thats a good point, do we have any rumours/predictions/calculations when the next batch of warbands will be released?  while they dont seem to do direct tie-ins it would certainly need to be talked about / explained and that might give a bit more rumour to what could be coming.

I was giving some tought about the rumor on Dispossesed taking Ironweld without counting as allies. I wonder if this is a signal of changes on ally system.  It would be really cool and create a whole lot of new builds for several armies!

There has been lots of discussion on allies since it was created, might be interesting to have that changed up.  Could possibly be a specific combined allegiance, like an expansion on the freecities idea (that would be ace!).  I always liked that they broke factions up the give them a story, a place in the AoS world(s), maybe they think that has been achieved and its safe to start merging factions here and there (with suitable story). Exciting times anyway.

I only know that last week the people behind Gloomspite Giz were working on Dispossessed battletome.

Then the Dispossessed tome became some sorto of Legion of the Grudge combining all the duardins.

Now we get no tome but the gyrocopter in general handbook 19.

I do fear the next week news for Dispossessed 😥 Are we getting TombKinged?

Only one thing for it, Dispossessed must rise again!  Show of force at tournaments is required, or some grudges will be written 📖

Look back through my posting history.  You will see where I have on more than one occasion thanked other sources when they had less of the indicators I mentioned.  @LLV was better.  I would personally do more research before asking a question like that.

To answer your first question, I come to a rumor thread for rumors. When I do that, I am suddenly not allowed to question the source? I don't think that is how it works.

Ok yeah sorry I just saw a lot of people ganging up on the guy for no real reason.

He may not be a reliable source (yet), but while LLV is great, but he did once post...

And also that Darkoath would be coming same time as Beastmen, and that Slaanesh was Xmas/Jan. Which were then followed up with changes, just like the guy you have questioned.

Rumours are rumours, you apply your own level of trust to them, and even the trusted ones can be miles off, its all 3rd hand info after all.
