i suspect @LLV has all the relevant data in the most digestible format to (most) easily run the analysis.

Ps @Jack Armstrong Mr Charisma is Mr AoS Coach / Anthony

The topic is a bit of a minefield so I’ll stay clear of that part.

ive got a bunch of untapped data in though that would likely be helpful in determining lots of things and playtesters are and always have been welcome to reach out and I’ll be happy to work with them for the betterment of the game in general.

    @Inquisitorsz

I understand that, but the crust of the question was why it would matter for Slaanesh if it didn't matter for Daughters of Khaine.

If statistics tell us that Slaanesh sits at 67% -- and that same statistical source also told us that daughters of khaine sat at 80/85%, then we can't apply variables to Slaanesh to push it to 80% if those variables weren't also being used for DoK, unless the variable is unique to Slaanesh specifically.

    Am I wrong?

    No not wrong.

    few reasons-

DoK had a more apparent win %. Close to 80%. It was less of the meta though and whilst it likely did cannibalize itself somewhat it wouldn’t  have been as much.

I have access to more detailed matchup data now than I did during DoK’s Reign.

it doesn’t matter more or less-DoK was just as powerful then as Slaanesh now. I was just responding to Rob being surprised it wasn’t higher. I was also doing it off the top my head which is why I said don’t quote me. But most Slaanesh players stay undefeated until G4 or 5 and a higher percentage than I’ve noticed in the past lose to themselves.

when I have the time I’ll run the matchup data, but it’s a hard task given the form I receive it in.

Astral Templars with the ballista core and 10+ Evocators (or 20 Sequitors) is probably the strongest Stormcast list overall right now. Given how many MONSTERs are in the meta, on average killing almost a big target (including big ones like Nagash and Rotigus) in one round of shooting with just the ballistas is a very powerful ability. Even when not shooting at MONSTERS you'll delete something every turn. Giving Evocators a free 6" move at the start of the game is also quite good, helping you get into the positions you need to drop your ballistas into play safely, take objectives, or get an early charge after buffing up in the hero phase.

Anvils w/ 9-12 Longstrikes is another really powerful list if you play it properly. There are some specific counters to it (Nighthaunt, long range spells, Skyfire spam) but you still have 1200-1400 points to spend after the Longstrikes to help build around specific meta counters, like adding 2+ Incantors for dispel scrolls or Aetherwings to stop melee armies, or some PRIESTS for Translocation to escape and/or get the right shooting angle. After two rounds of double shooting from 12 Longstrikes your opponent won't have enough left on the table to contest objectives.

I think most people haven't bothered experimenting outside of Gavriel lists because it's a fairly easy to play and highly effective against people that don't have a lot of experience playing against that kind of thing (ie. most people).

So I’ve seen variations on both these lists compete and still no major event podiums. Don’t get me wrong I love Templars and everything you say makes sense, except against DoK .... and certain realms(auto lose in shadow with 6” shooting) ... and total commitment....

There are very good lists out there but there are also very, very good players that have settled on gav bomb being the best tool at their disposal. Your arguements seem like the one I see constantly in mtg from less experienced players thinking ‘their deck’ is something the pro’s missed in their thousands of hours of structured testing. Yes now and again something gets missed but even then it’s usually a fad.

im not saying you’re wrong, I’m just pointing out that people are taking the lists you mentioned (I have seen them) and there’s a reason people like Gary P and jack Armstrong are using gav bomb. As someone said- go out there and prove it. They are.

I think Gavriel lists are good (and I have said so every time I criticize them) I just find them lacking and think Stormcast have better options.

If the gav lists aren’t ‘the best’ I would love to know of some of the better options that you’re talking about. I have seen my fair share of lists and tournament results (probably more than is healthy tbh) and in over 30 main events the only list winning events currently is the Gav bomb.

  5. I feel I should mention -  all those people who told John Roy that Castigators were bad - The TOP performing Stormcast list (7th overall) from Facehammer (a large UK competitive tournament) had 9 in there....NINE!

Cue Anakin Vader Voice.... "Tell the internet you were right John...You were Riiiiiight"

    What he said below

And it was a good book for understanding Slaanesh more than just what gets written online by trolls stating  "Slaanesh is just drugs and sex".  I highly recommend that read.

Yeah I hate when people do that. Everyone knows Slaanesh is Drugs and Sex AND Rock n Roll

If the malign portents characters were designed after the armies they represent than imo they could have made them with a bit more "grandeur". While the 4 of them are really nice miniatures.. they looked a bit mundane as the "chosen ones"... .

They were. If you want more 'proof' this was confirmed on WHTV when they did the NH design team and the Stormcast design team interviews. The heralds were modeled after existing line. Specific examples given on show was the Knight of Shrounds on foot was made AFTER the KoS on steed and the ordinator was made AFTER the ballista crew in the soul wars box. The shaman and the warqueen factions as far as model designs go have been 'done' for close to a year at this point.

So today I decided to prepare for the imminent arrival of a new Destruction force, by buying the Fungoid Cave Shaman. When the part in the picture caught my eye. Are my eyes deceiving me or is the pattern nearly identical to a Rumour Engine picture from not that long ago?!

    Hiding in plain sight.

Remember the malign portent characters were designed AFTER the main factions

I remember him saying at least 4 different factions over different posts.

Nope. I have bee saying moonclan Darkoath/beast of chaos as soon as the soulwars dropped- which I told everyone on here about in March. Granted moonclan and Darkoath a bit obvious from the malign portents but beasts of chaos was so left field no one believed that one when I first wrote it lol

only thing I will concede has been a little off is timings- but that’s more due to schedule changes.

  10. Kind of lol- makes a bit more sense now as was originally told Darkoath then Darkoath / beasts of chaos. Source probably saw bits of it all. I know Darkoath is already done. In fact many believe the malign heralds to be precursors to the NH, moonclan etc - it’s actually the other way around. The design elements for those factions were already done. For instance the knight of shroud on steed was done before the malign sorcery one.

  11. Here we go.... first of many!

For the comment above, yes all underworld stuff is ETB, but not all moonclan stuff coming will be ETB

Also here’s a bone for some... see how similar the spore stuff is on the club to the rumour engine pic....Similar but not the same!
