  1. As I mentioned in the WIP thread it's been a long time since I touched AoS.

After a long slog of 40k stuff I have decided I might do a Skirmish Warband to mix things up, and I had an idea. Here is my finished Knight Heraldor, which I basically speed painted to test an idea - it took around 4 hours I reckon, which makes me keen to keep up the pace and finish the rest, though I have no idea how to get hold of just ONE Pallador without buying a whole box.

  2. Nothing to confirm it, but I don't see why we shouldn't be optimistic. If we don't get anything, It doesn't really matter. World will turn. Whilst Nurgle have no solid anti-shooting, plaguebearers can create a negative modifier, and I think allegience abilities will be nice to see.

  3. It's covered with so many ridiculous details. Nurgling on the front to bait it into moving, the wonderful texture of the shell, the little shop of horrors plantpot, the bone in his mouth like he's chewing a corn stem, the effortlessly relaxed pose they've sculpted him in. The only thing I'd change is the paint job for the eyes, but that's just a minor thing. Since getting back into the hobby I've really come to appreciate their skill in sculpting, its not AoS but Mortarion in 40k is a great example, there's just a phenomenal sense of weight and motion in the model.

I've seen your silky smooth orruk skin so I'm taking that as high praise man :D

  5. The brightness and clarity of these models reminds me of the first GW images I saw, back in 2nd edition, of luridly painted Eldar Guardians fighting over technicolour green flock hills. You've taken that vividness and brought into AoS perfectly, everything is excellent but my favourite thing is the Stardrake, and how well his throat skin blends to green. Bravo man, this is top tier work.

  6. I know this isn't AoS... but it is Nurgle, and this is a Nurgle plog... ha. Picked up some of the new Death Guard stuff - 3 snapfit Plague Marines from GW and a Blightbringer sprue from a facebook group (also a poxcaster but he ain't pictured. Think it's fun to use them to mark progress from my earliest stuff.

First model painted this January, when I came back to the hobby after 10 years:

Not a *huge* leap, but I think the improvements are showing. Need to be more adventurous with my techniques perhaps. GW shot me a message on instagram to say they would be featuring my Plague Marines on their site, which is very nice of them, and makes me feel like I've made progress.

  7. I didn't lose my job!

I have lost a bit of paint from some models though, I really need to get used to not holding the models themselves, but perhaps doing the thing where you drill into their feet, and perhaps but some varnish over them? I am very wary of that though in case it goes horribly wrong.

  8. Eek, it's been a while.

Finally finished up my first ten Arkanauts properly after finishing with Uni and graduating last week. Happy with how they have turned out. Not happy with the idea of doing 10-20 more :P

Picked up a Khemist and some Edrinriggers too, so they're next!

Gorgeous ship, I think the windows are pretty good as they are! However the silver and the yellow strike me as too plain, maybe some shading could make them look better? Even though I like it a lot overall, the scheme is very cool.

Thanks! I think the silver is coming out bad in the lighting I'm using, it's actually quite heavily shaded with Drakenhoff and shaded to make it look patch and dirty. The yellow probably does need a shade but I am finding it tough to hit the balance on that. All details that I'll be working out when I make the final push.

  10. Right, I think I'll redo my windows as I clearly don't have the technique down, but apart from the crew (and the bombs which I forgot to paint!) I think this is pretty close to complete, so now for a fortnight break whilst I do my revision... here is the newly re-christened "Oath Hammer" phew!

The Kharadrons are the best. Very neatly painted, very accurate, and with very good paints it seems! Barak-Mjornar I'd presume?

I think I am going to be making my own skyport but on the table at the minute I plan to use Zilfin as the ruleset - I just really like the atmosphere drop stuff, I'm not in it for competition.

@ZealousJ I am not looking forward to painting all of my arkanauts, they're very nice models but as such super fiddly. A far cry from the simplicity of painting plaguebearers! I am looking forward to getting them all done though, basing will probably be really basic astrogranite and snow, but I am getting some shattered dominion stuff for the boats.

  12. Cheers folks! Efforts are being redoubled and I am feeling a lot more confident about it!

@Dez I did start with XV88, and I am using Zamesi Desert for the yellow and Yriel for the highlight (possibly flash gits for the next level)

@April I haven't got any lamenters yellow but I may well try it, cheers.

I have a name now - Karak Ztorm (which I believe is enduring storm according to the wiki) and a Bloodborne inspired SkyPort rune!
