  1. Does anyone else feel like GW editing went through last minute and red pen editied some things out of the book? Specifically the deamon keyword from disk units. I got a similar feel from the new KO book....like things were added /removed last minute and it went to print with some of the core concepts turned on their head. Could be a bit unfounded, but i feel like both the DoT and KO battletomes were right and ready and they both received a last minute knee-****** edit to nerf them a bit.

Bloodtoofs question - how does the Realmgate stuff work? Do you have to buy the Realmgate in your army list? Where is it placed? The 'Get Da Realmgate' command trait doesn't really specify how the Realmgate gets on the battlefield.

unless its on the table....or you play the GHB rules to add one......you dont get the benefit. I think i speak for all when i say it is the most underwhelming CA ever to be printed to a page.

Yes, 6CP rolls over 4 turns will get you 2 more CP (4 for 4 turns, 1 for battalions 1 for bought CP), there is always lucky and unlucky rolls, but going by pure averages.

    Turn 1-4 will give 4PC and 4CP for 8 auto PC's
4 turns of D3 sacrifice will average to 8 PC's
1 Battlaion CP, 1 bought CP will get you 2 more PC
Then the 6 you spent with Aether broche for final 2 more (I forgot it was Broche and not Branch) for 2 more (33.34% of 6 is 2)

I try to let everyone know that it will average be 20, so they can decided if its worth doing or not, i do like Allherd and it can work out well, specially if you just need a couple more PC's and you are willing to spend, or if you want a strong start with summoning, it also helps with Bravery and gives you rend, more rend on a Hero like a Shaggoth isnt a bad thing. I also think Allherd works well if you like to take lots of Dragons.

So because its before the sacrifice...the basic strat is just yolo all the CP every time and then see what you can summon after sacrifice? so the breakdown would be something like (on average) assuming every 3rd CP spent procs the broach:

    turn 1 - 1 PC for turn / 4 from CP (2 CP start + turn CP + Broche proc) / 2 from sacrifice = 7 for turn/total

    Turn 2 - 1 PC for turn / 1 from CP / 2 from sacrifice = 4 for turn / 11 total

    Turn 3 - 1 PC for turn / 2 from CP (Broche proc) / 2 from sacrifice = 5 from turn / 16 total

    turn 4 - 1PC for turn / 1 from CP / 2 from sacrifice = 4 from turn / 20 total

so this looks like at least something decent every turn to summon...and a big thing every other

Yes you have spend points at the start first. Just so you know its an average of 20 PC points for allherd over 4 turns (turn 5 is pointless to summon most the time) using all of you CP.

Is that considering Aetherquartz Broche as well?

  5. So i was thinking about a summoning list...in Allherd, but it was pointed out to me that the Allherd CA is at the START of the hero phase, and the sacrifice ritual is during the hero phase, and thus AFTER you have to spend for extra points. Is this right?....if so it seems silly to have that CA before you find out how many free summon points you get....

  6. So, Im trying to make good ole Brayherd work....i really like the flexability of the ambush and the hard hitting-ness up bestigor, but im finding them a bit underwhelming. Is it just me or do the characters in the book seem meh in general. Sure a DMG 3 beastlord seems legit....but he dies to a stiff breeze. Are we just not that reliant on characters? Also are the monsters just a giant trap? I want sooooo badly for them to be good...

  7. So since Beastgrave preorders on the 21st, will they not do the Warclans tome on the same weekend?....Does this mean we wont preorder till the end of the month!!!!!! Do they realize what temperament of players they are dealing with? Do they think we have that kind of patience??!?!? Just tell us when!!!

  8. so dumb question....which may have been asked before but i cant find the answer, can a spell be "cast" even if there is no one in range? Based on wording it seems like ranges and such are checked after a spell is successfully cast, so Im wondering if we can still willy nilly cast spells for fate points. I've been back and forth on this with friends, so if possible please let me know a reference because there seems logical arguments on both sides.

  9. i dont think you run the Hag as a damage dealer, she is support, a tarpit and absolute beast-mode in the scenarios where you need heroes. I agree that rockguts are much better offensively, but i think they serve very different rolls. The above mentioned list will have a lot of difficulty in places of power, duality, and potentially the orb.

  10. I saw a couple pics a long while ago with the old models of the squigs bouncing of of various enemy's. It actually was they way the poster differentiated units, one off of dwarves one off of stormcast...seemed like a really cool idea

  11. weird question came up the other day....regarding rerolls

So the TZ shammy can reroll one or both dice when he is using the elixir, how does this interact with the khirne bloodsecrator forcing a reroll of sucessfull casting?

Is the reroll wasted?...can it be used after the secrator-forced reroll? The thoughts were that you cant reroll a dice more than once so maybe you can pick the beast reroll 1st and then the secrator ability has no effect? Looking to the wiser bestial wisdom here....

Now back to tzeencth! What do you think of Changehost vs the top armies? I feel we got the edge vs FEC and skaven but would struggle vs DoK? Fyreslayers then? We would dominate Most battleplans due to mobility.

The changehost counters DoK and Fireslayers because of their lack of fly. If you screen your characters against heartrenders then its quite easy to zone the board and feed them horrors and spell snipe the important characters. Plus the Gaunt Summoners has one of the absolute best anti horde tech around. Couple these with the fact that neither is likely to stop most of our key spells....its only gaps/mistakes that should really spell doom in these matchups.

So did the guardian of souls with mortality glass and a number of other things such as carrion empire battalions.  I didn’t make the rules man, the intention is clear yes, they are not allowed in pitched battles.

Carrion empire didn't have points........Guardian with mortality glass didn't have points, everyone assumed it was the same as its counterpart. Also the Gaunt Summoner with familiars....no point so its gone.....difference these have POINTS and are published post GHB, so yeah i think it is clearly intended for pitched battle/matched play.

Although that would make sense, the GHB19 specifically says that is not the case

edit:  to be clear, the ghb19 says only models included in the pitched battle points book or the errata to it are allowed in pitched battles.  As warcry models are not in that book and not currently in its errata, they are not allowed in pitched battles.

I mean........i see the argument you're making, but seriously dude?......seriously?......They have points written in the same format as everything in the GHB, and it is intended clear as day......Intention is pretty crystal here right?

  15. How reliant is Tzeentch on CP? I mean i know that the LoC has a baller command ability, but is the strategy of the army dependent on it. To me maybe the destiny dice seems really strong (admittedly I'm new to the faction). The main reason i am asking is because the battalions seem under-powered/over-costed except for the change host, which i've played against and not at all a fan of. It seems like artifacts are a "nice to have" rather than a requirement like some armies....and it all may change with a new book....Just looking for peoples opinions

    @twrightii

Since the FAQ only lets one of your bloodthirsters attack twice in reapers of vengeance, bloodlords is probably better. The +4" move is also helpful on our slow bloodthirsters, and I think we already have enough magic hate.

It only allows one of the interactions of "after a unit attacks for the 1st time"...still getting 4 activation's in a row (the last one goes twice)...its still a very very strong mechanic and often CP is the limited resource anyway

I personally start my lists with the following:

    - 2x Slaughterpriests
    - Bloodsecrator
    - Hexgorger Skulls
    - Wrath Axe
    - Extra Command Point

So that's 470 points.  The only time I find the Judgements to not be worth while is centered around the Skulls, where I'm playing against someone that doesn't have magic. In that case, they're a fancy roadblock.

I also agree with @twrightii's ranking.

How many Keepers were being used? I'm also curious why you took the Charnel Host, that's an interesting batallion to take compared to say, the Murderhost.

With the battalion choice it was 2 things.....reduce drops, and the reroll 1's to wound is straight money on all units in the battalion.

I played 2 variants of the Slaanesh lists.....most of them (2 at this tourney) were dbbl keeper lists. One was 4 Exalted chariots...Both variants were very tough match-ups.

  18. So i went to a 2 day, 5 round event this past weekend....and it was DOMINATED by Slaanesh. Had to play the buggers twice myself. Ended up 4/1 and playing on table 1 round 5...but just couldn't get over on the Invaders list at the top table. My list was as follows:

    Reapers of Vengence / Ulgu

    Gore Pilgrims / Charnel Host

BT of UF: Mage Eater, Crimson Crown

    Blood secrator: Skullshard Mantle

    2x Slaughter priest

    Blood Master

    Deamon Prince: sword of judgement

    2x (10) bloodletters

    (20) bloodletters

    (5) blood warriors

    (10) blood reavers

    karanak

    3 x Judgments

The list hinged on the 6" pile in and the fight twice from reapers...and did rather well. there ended up a 4 way tie for 2nd and the killpoints were the tiebreaker. I already have some adjustments to the list to make...but it was dishearting when Slaanesh took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Do we have a answer for the net variety list that they can bring? They seem to outclass us in almost every aspect. (one game i managed 3130 kill points because of all his summoning). Have others had similar exp in this new meta? am i crazy and their is a silver bullet against Slaanesh?
