I have been thinking a lot about this release and i am really thorn appart. For one side i quite like the lore and the stuff in the army box, specially Eltharion. Had the army followed his visual identity (on the helmet departament) i would enjoy it even more. On the other hand the montain identity is not for me and GW botched Teclis model compared to his artwork imo. Maybe i got spoiled by the old line, where if you didnt like Eagles you could build on Phoenix or Dragons or lions. On the current state of Lumineth afairs, you got horns and that is kinda it. I was thinking about all the modifications i would have to do to make this work and it seens like so much! Something that could make me get out of the fence would be understading the very nature of this release. There is so many things that we still dont know for sure, like "Is this all the models"? Is this army coming out in waves? Will Tyrion be a part of it? Phoenix Temple is an ally or part of the army? While we can make educated guesses about those questions, the truth is that we STILL dont know the answers for sure. If Tyrion and/or a second Wave is on the way, it will be waaays off. Right now i have been feeling out of place in AoS. I waited for a High Elf book since release. Models were squatted and Lumineth came with mixed feelings about it. What now? Start over the cycle and hope they get Tyrion right? (If GW have plans for Tyrion in the near future. While we can guess, we dont actually know that. Maybe they decide to keep him out of the game like Sigmar and have just Teclis running the show).

If you can ally Phoenix Temple, a Phoenix would be a cool behemoth to add for a more "traditional" elven army.

Well my main "army" is Phoenix Guard. I love how anoying resilient they are and i dont see why not the Alarith cant be as tough as they are. That said an original mechanic would be cool.

At this point in time, i dont know what else to think, other than the fact that despite the Covid situation GW has been handling this release very poorly. Teasers started by January 4, with pointy elves. We didnt know how it would be called, but it was clear that they were suposed to be the new High Elves. The initial previews were, with Teclis exception, pretty good. Aaaand then came the cows. If you mix all Lumineth we seen so far, the bovine units look stand out as a "group" on its own, wich is explained by the elemental lore. All of that leads ne to belive that we will have 4 distinct visual identities in the line and that the battlelines are the "middle ground". Now the great questions are "Is this book going to be all about montain"? So it will be 4 releases? Where is Tyrion? Here is where i think GW is doing wrong: they should by now have said if there is more or not about this release, and then start teasing the Sons of Behamot. If they said it will have more, we would be playing around with ideas (a silhuete would keep us chasing clues all around) and if there isnt, people could figure out if they want this army or not. In both situations GW would still have material to publish and tease in the lockdown. The silence after 4 month is a pretty d#$% move.

I dont get this model design. Face and robes look light and windy, then comes the huge hands/feet/waist/lamp post. It is like the bits dont fit

Tyrion will be show, but he will be a half bull half elf. With wings. With a montain on his shoulders and 8 hats representing the realms of Hysh. And he will be sideways place on top of a Narval, the spirit of the water, both with really thin weapons and horn to help on transport.

If memory serves, frost phoenixes are the ones on their "last life" . So new ones should be born somehow.

I am playing around the idea of placing Teclis in front of Celenar . Would make the model easier to transport. Gota find out how the pieces connect between then to see if my greenstuff skills are up to the challenge.

Has anyone considered the possibility of placing Teclis in front of Celenar, on the ground? I think it would centralize the model and make it easier for transport.

I wonder how possible would be to place Teclis on the ground in front of Celenar. The would centralize the model and he would be more in focus. Is one of those things we would need to see the sprue to know. My greenstuff skills are poor and i am not sure how the cape and wing connect, but is a good idea that would also make it easier to transport without breaking the model.

Holly cow! I take a nap and return on a battlefield! Let me make a disclaimer that this is not intentional. This weeks lowdown was about Artwork and i made a remark about that artwork compared with this model. Teclis art was the first thing we saw in AoS and i was in awe about it! It is perfect IMO. I also think he looks a lot like the Idoneth Aspects, and it makes sense. I really enjoy Celenar in its pose and all, but Teclis artwork to me fels like "I am here now, lets get this done, shall we?", while the Sculpt lost this feel to me. That said if you loved the sculp, by all means i am happy for you.
