  1. I don't think Beasts of Chaos are going to get squatted, I do think they're in that awkward 'what do we do with them?' space that's shared by Idoneth, Fyreslayers, Kharadron, etc. I posted in the other thread regarding my thoughts, but even if Beasts do get squatted, I'm sure they'll live on through STD/the god-marked books. As for rumours, the beehive defs looks nurgle to me. The "bees" look more like flies, and given the obvious nurgle rumour engines I expect we'll see an expansion to Maggotkin soon enough. Would love for that faction to get an AoS version of poxwalkers.
  2. I think there could be three ways to do Beasts of Chaos for AoS: 1. Squat them as a whole faction, giving each god-themed book the respective marked-gors. This is already a thing for Tzaan- and Slaan- gors. Roll Ungors, Gors, Bestigors, et al into Slaves to Darkness, providing rules to field beasts as their 'own' army. Unlikely to happen, but given how the mono-god books are a mix of daemon and mortals, who knows. 2. Beasts remain as-is, getting the remaining marked gors, and newer beastmen units, leaning into the whole 'Children of Chaos' theme. Give them mutated gors that are sorta-spawn, sorta-beastmen i.e. Beasts of Chaos flavoured Forsaken. Give them options to not be as glassy a cannon that they are, i.e. Just ensure that they're able to do the cannon bit of glass cannon. All glass no cannon isn't fun. Add in primitive/shoddy siege weapons, crewed by ungors. Lean into the 'tear civilization down, even if they have to be hypocrites to do so' motif. Like, make them an ugly, chaos-flavoured mirror to Cities of Sigmar. 3. As above, but leaning into the more wild and more obscure beasts. Where are ungors crewing a chaos oxen/elephant/big monster? Where's the mobile mini-herdstone on chariot? Bestigors with other weapon options? Siege-spawn, like spawn with hastily cobbled together armour, designed to breach walls and/or die trying? Chaos Dragons, spawn either of Glaucoma Glaurach or a corrupted brother to Karazai? Re-add Chaos ogres, make them different to Ogroids (less elite, just ogors that ate too much chaos-infused stuff). Bring back and roll in Fimir? Retcon them as while abandoned by Chaos, they've found a home in the beasts as they're also the 'first children of chaos' or that they've thrown their lot in with the Beastmen to regain the Eye of the Gods.
  3. I have a question- does anyone know if the legacy list for Ogres includes the 8th edition stuff and war machines (i.e. scraplauncher)? I ask as I kinda want to base-adapt my orcs and re-base some of my mawtribes.
  4. I think most former 25mm squares are now 30mm. Chaos Marauders seem to be the only exception.
  5. The old monopose arrow boys are there towards the back! WE'Z GOT BS3 SHOOTIN' NOW, LADS!
  6. Given the lead up to the Great War against Chaos and the Siege of Praag, daemon units might make an appearance sooner than later, though again- pdf rules and no qualms against someone mixing and matching units from regular chaos armies. I need to dig out my old O+G books, figure out who was where (We iz 'ere), doing what (probs krumping) during the new setting timeframe.
  7. Norsca does have their own distinct BB faction too, so there's that. Perhaps they're a variant chaos list, heavy on marauders. EDIT: Warhammer wiki states in 2286, Settra takes Umbrage to Norscans trying to raid Khemri, leading to the War of Sand and Snow. I wish you luck in the queue, Tonhel. I'm kinda glad that the prices put me off a launch box as a unit of 6 grail knights is $200 AUD from GW direct! (Seriously, does anyone want a spare kidney?). Would also like to apologise to those earlier in the thread, things were getting heated and I understand the frustration of having your favourite faction not be supported from the get-go. Was in that boat from AoS 2e, after the regular orc boy units were scrapped. Big Boss Faceeater Da Reesonabool shall fly again though.
  8. And Eldar had to wait how long for plastic aspects outside of Dire Avengers? How long for the guardians update? Warp Spiders are literally the same second edition models. So yeah, I feel it for skaven but according to all reliable rumours, they are getting their massive overhaul this year with AoS 4e. Not sure why it's a Big Deal now, when we know they're getting an update soon. Not to mention that many, many AoS factions still have models dating back to 6e that aren't skaven. Chaos is still rocking marauders and spawn. Seraphon only recently revamps saurus and still have 6e skinks. Like, AoS came out 9yrs ago and we've yet to get a 2nd wave for Fyreslayers and Idoneth. All these factions aren't space marines, so they're going to be waiting a bit to get some love.
  9. Dead on arrival is hyperbole. Same wailing and gnashing of teeth like AoS 1e. 9/14 factions for WHFB/TOW is a large chunk so far. Remember GW has to keep in production stuff for each and every AoS faction, 40k faction, MESBG faction, HH faction, Specialist Game Faction. Remember Squats? They're back, in pog Votann form. Case in point, BRETONNIA. They had nothing, nothing since their 6th ed update. Hell, Dwarfs only got two, count'em two, new units between 6th ed and the end times. The gyrobomber and Irondrakes. Everything else was a plastic rendition of an existing unit. Orcs got the aracknarok spider and that was about it for new units. People forget (or don't know due to being new) that most Army edition updates were mostly plastic kits of previously metal models. New units were not as common, and we mostly a dual kit for the most part. As for the legitimacy of PDF armies, I'd be happy to throw down against an army using PDF rules. Know why? It's because I'm getting a game in and get to roll some animosity dice!
  10. Three of the seven 'cut' factions have a big stake in Lustria (DE, Skaven and possibly Lizardmen, maybe 😉). Given that GW seem to be alluding to advancing the plot to the Siege of Praag, it might be that in the future they'll release a supplement/expansion covering Lustria. Daemons might make an appearance at the Siege, given how in Old World lore they were rarer (and subsequently stronger) than their 40k equivalents. Point being is that it's taken GW what, five years? to get to here- the re-launch of WHFB. AoS is almost ten years old and WHFB was in its 30s when it was canned. Give things some time and communicate to your group if you want to proxy/use 8th ed WHFB rules in place of the PDF lists.
  11. I'm most likely never going to an official tournament, which is why I'm looking at the movement tray adapters. If I can find some that are reasonably priced in AUD I'll get some, but as it stands I'll need $138 (AUD) just to re-base everything for my orcs & gobs. I might just rebase and sit tight until the O+G release for TOW. 6th and 7th ed WHFB starters were part orc/gobbo, so hopefully GW releases both combined as their launch box. I say that partly because it'll mean plastic orc archers but also because both starters combined are a solid core for any Warboss. 6e: 16 orc archers, 18 orcs (2HW, 2/3 command), 1 chariot, 1 orc boss on boar. 7e: 2x 20 NG spearmen, 1x 20 NG archers, 1x NG boss, 1x NG shaman, 1x Troll, 10x spider riders. I doubt very much that it'll happen or even be affordable if it does, but that's a damn solid WAAAGH right there. The whole malding and seething today has left a bad taste in my mouth and has soured me a little on the community here. It's usually much more upbeat but yeah, today comes across like the launch of AoS, back in 2015. That being said, I don't know how old the other posters are, and I was well, literally almost a decade younger when AoS launched, so I get it somewhat. Edit: Forgot I had spear chukkas that require basing.
  12. Literally what I was saying, but you'd think it's time to set fire to our collections again given some of the reactions here...
  13. It means, quite clearly, that you can use these armies in any form of play barring official tournaments. That's the bad faith issue I have. You can use them at the LGS, you can use them in the garage vs your mates. You cannot, however, take them to NOVA/any official tournament.
  14. Doko, it reads as if you're arguing in bad faith. I don't know if that's your intention, but maybe step back a bit/reword things? It comes across as raging and less of a civil discussion. So Dark Elves aren't supported. Proxy them as High Elves then, if the pdf rules aren't to your taste. Malekith is, after all, the True Phoenix King. If you went out and bought stuff without having anything solid to go on, that's on you. We have known from the horse's mouth since May 2023 what factions are going to be supported. That's around 7-8 months. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2023/05/23/old-world-development-diary-the-main-factions-revealed/ They have also, at nauseam and ad infinitum repeated about scale, base size, legality of play regarding bases, and so on. Since 2021. Even in April of 2023, they stated that movement trays would be a thing. https://www.warhammer-community.com/2023/04/14/old-world-development-diary-on-bases-and-the-barons-of-bretonnia/
  15. The whole point of PDF armies was so that they are playable. It might be jank, it might be sucky, but they at least gave rules. GW could've not done that. Tournament play isn't the only way to play. I get it, it sucks, but some rules are better than no rules. I think cooler heads need to prevail here, given how much GW has stressed that the non-supported factions weren't going to be supported.
