  1. Hi all,

Just looking for clarity regarding ward saves as the language in the core rules - imo - is not very clear.

    For example:

    1) Are you able to use a ward save in addition to a regular save (e.g. roll 5+ regular and then roll 4+ ward);

    or,

    2) Are ward saves only to be used in situations where your modified save role is worse than your ward save (e.g. 4+ regular, attacker causes wound with -3 rend, therefore use 4+ ward).

Additionally,  do you apply ward saves in the same way as a regular save (i.e. per wound) or based on the damage profile of a weapon (e.g. attacker wounds with weapon that causes 2 damage, ward roll for each damage caused).

    Thank you :)

Esteemed brethren, let's try to keep the brilliant realm's peace here. It's hard enough on these forums as it is with all these fanatical Chaos Dwarf lovers, Skaven fans and worshippers of Nagash who are all united by only one common goal: Hating us Lumineth players.

I very much think you both have fair points. I personally think (or hope) that the army is broad and diverse enough that it should not fall off a cliff as soon as Sentinels become more expensive. But it is a finely tuned machine with considerably less raw power options than other armies.

It does sound to me that @whispersofblood comes from a more competitive background and generally plays in an environment where taking 'weaker' options is punished swiftly and brutally. At the same time @Athrawes 's games seem to focus a little more on the hobby side with a lot of emphasis on the 'rule of cool'. So anyone taking quicker and less elaborated advise (like the one on more expansive Sentinels) would be best served to know where their advisor's emphasis lies. :)

Say there is a points increase for Sentinels; what would be the alternative choice?  I tried just taking 10 Sentinels once just do see what it was like and I got absolutely demolished.  I also tried to substitute with starshard's as well and they didn't really make much of an impact.  Mind you I am saying all this as a casual player and my strategy may not be all that savvy.

I expect when the nerf comes LRL will fall off a cliff. So unless you just love piloting the army I'd suggest making them a hobby project. I've been trying for months to come up with something that works to no avail. GW doesn't have the fortitude to stand up to the amount of rage sentinels seem to cause.

What do you think they will do? Based on the complaints, people prefer a points hike. However, if you increase the points their output won’t be all that great.

  4. What is everyone's opinion on Sentinels? I usually have AOS stuff on youtube in the background when I paint and I continually see people complain about them being broken (no LOS/30" range, 5+/6+ MW).  I am relatively new to AOS, but I find that when I don't field a lot of Sentinels, I get wrecked immediately.

I understand why they advised against it, because they would have to. If a customer ends up overheating a paint can and makes it explode on the advice of a GW employee, that would be trouble!

People who store their spray paint in unheated rooms like a garage or shed sometimes have problems getting good results with them when the weather turns cold. In that case, bringing the can up to temperature with warm (not hot or boiling) water from your sink can help. Alternatively you can try storing the paint in a heated room for a while, which should also work. Only if you suspect that this might indeed be the problem, though. If you store your spray paint in your house, temperature is probably not what is causing your issue.

Yeah I store them in my house and they are at room temperature, but I do prime them in my garage.  I am going to try what you said and I really appreciate the advice.  If it fails then from now on in I'm just going to prime these stormcast guys black and just paint retributor armour on. Maybe I am just really unlucky and got back-to-back bad spray cans because all my other primers in the same conditions work perfectly fine.

No first hand experience on my part, but "brownish colour with sparkles" sounds like the metallic pigment is not well distributed in the medium. Is it possible that you didn't shake the can enough before using it? Another possibility could be that the internal pressure of the can was too low to propel the heavy metallic pigment properly. Did you maybe store the can in a cold place?

In any case, it might be worth warming the can up in some warm water, giving it a good shake, and spraying a test piece to see if the problem goes away.

I haven't tried putting it in warm water yet (a GW employee advised against it), but honestly if I want to use it as a spray I don't have any more options.  I just find it weird that both sprays I bought do this colour but the one I had in 2018 was fine...starting to wonder if they changed the mixture or something?

  7. Hi all,

Does anyone else have issues with Retributor Armour spray? I've done everything the interwebs has suggested, even asked some GW employees for advice and no matter what the colour comes out this weird brownish gold colour with sparkles.  Initially I thought it was just my spray can because the models sprayed from my previous can came out amazing (this was around 2018), but the can I bought after just to make sure  produced the same results.  I am thinking of just priming my models black and just painting retributor armour on from now on.

Sadly there's not much going on in the Lumineth sub-forum. I guess the more experienced players temporarily moved on to different factions or were bullied off the forums by all the Sentinel- and Archmage hate.

Taking a break from LRL rn.  Anyone finding their Wardens useless rn? Also, the amount of difficult to reach places and gold trim is killing my soul.

  9. Correct me if I am wrong but it should be that if I pay for the app, I don't pay for the battletomes.  If I buy the battletomes, I technically don't need to get the app.  When you no longer pay for the subscription, you lose access to the battletome information...I don't see the issue here nor the need to double gouge.  I am trying to be optimistic here, but as a new player I feel like GW is charging me left, right, and centre for things that should be free.  You are charging for miniatures; charging for rules seems so...backwards?

Hmm... I backed it on HasLab but I haven't seen any updates for months...

Your message made me call the store again to re-confirm...Now it is an expected release around November.  I concluded that they don't really know when it is coming.

  11. The whole discontinuance of Cursed City sort of put of damper on me actually playing the game.  Does it have staying power or is it sort of a one and done sort of game? I only ask because I have friends to who want to try either Blackstone Fortress or Cursed City but have limited time.  As such I sort of need to pick one over the other.
