I love the Sentinel Idea with the Steedmaster Sword -might have to steal that for my planned Great Company of 20 Sentinels. :P How did you do the bases?

Thanks! It was easy to customize that!

For the base I used something I saw at Twitter last year.

    - Agrellan Badland texture paint

Paint Agrax Earthshade when its dry.

When the shade is dry, dry brush in the following order.
    - Steel legion drab
    - Karak Stone
    - Usabti Bone

I also painted the rims with steel legion drab.

Then i added middenland tufts and Mordheim turf and some bushes from army painter? Or maybe it is spring flowers, to make it more alive.

    Did you use contrast-blue?

The bright blue is Talassar blue contrast. The robes are a mix with Talassar and Leviadon blue (Both contrast). The darker rims are Leviadon blue. I used Teclis blue to make it brighter at several spots.

  2. Im happy that they expand Lumineth, not sure about the books, I might get them digital.

I wish they made the new battle tomes like the 40k caudexes. That if you buy the book, you can upload it to your phone (at least the rules).

It would be healthy if GW showed some love to Fyreslayers, Ironjaws, Idoneth and probably just updating the whole skaven and lizardmen factions.

So the latest reveals have clawed me back to AoS. The white and gold armour killed me doing it before (trims are the devil), so I did a quick redo of the armour in silver. What do you guys think?

Looks good. I think I will do the same with the other half of my vanari units. Either metal or white like the illathia. The white and gold looks awesome, but it's really a pain to do for me and I don't feel like I can do it smooth.

On the Preview it states that the Broken Realms books will cover:

    • Lumineth Realm-lords
    • Cities of Sigmar
    • Maggotkin of Nurgle
    • Flesh-eater Courts
    • Ossiarch Bonereapers

I have a sneaking suspicion that each Broken Realm book might come with a new set of rules for Cities of Sigmar that will tie into the featured title character. Possibly each one will set up a different city to include new allies. Maybe this is just wishful thinking on my part?

As a collector of both CoS and Lumineth, I really hope they make a city that allies Lumineth. It could make me mix between my two armies!

  5. I think most of the units look pretty good! The cow looks alright, but not for me. I don't mind the stone mage (it's the head I think). I wasn't that excited about Teclis & celenars face, but I still bought it.

My favorite unit is the Dawnriders, sadly they are the most challenging thing I've painted in my life!

  6. If we do get Tyrion, I hope we get some rules to make them boost each other, if you would carry both in a list.

I've only played 3 games since the release and are working really slow to paint and build my 2000 points (most is in the closet and not built).

Someone wrote and asked for suggestions on what to do when you feel hobby fatigue. I feel like I'm in that position right now. But I don't feel bad about it either.

After all, I started in November 2019, finished 2000 pts of CoS around June 2020. I finished the army box for Lumineth in November I think. Not I'm working on 20 sentinels. I finished my 5th today I think.

It feels like a pain and tiresome to make plenty of battleline units, but on a positive point, I feel like I get more value out of the hobby when it takes longer to paint and get done with everything! I'm also trying my best with every new model, and based on everything I've learned and every new pot of paint that I've purchased, makes the time go much slower compared to just using some contrast paints like when I started in 2019.

I also don't want to have a deadline when I should be done, so it will be done when it's done :)! I'm not excited to make 5 more Dawnriders though, and I'm scared about Teclis!

Hope you all get a good start this year! Sorry if something I wrote doesn't make sense, I'm tired after new years :)!

So anvilguard is lost and with it we loose too the mount traits doing more useless even umplayable models as black dragons, good way to sell the new box with the dragon games workshop.

Also as city of sigmar player i get great bives having one of my alegiances being deleted.......i feel so safe to buy more models knowing that these models and rules gonna stay for a while and wont be deleted as were the 50% of dwarfs...........

I told to my local store that i wanted the preorder of the new black dragon box,now i dont know if cancel it seeing this....

So idoneths that were allready a top army even with 2.0 tome get mount traits and huge buffs to warscrolls but citys get useless new alegiance,no new warscroll for the worst unit of aos(black dragons),delete one of our alegiances(anvilguard) and also with this we loose our mount traits.

Haven't seen if anyone replied, but according to guerilla something that reviewed the book, it seems like you still can play anvilguard.

Beasts of chaos lack any named characters in AoS other than the shadespire bray shaman character. Their generic hero's are some of the weakest and the book desperately needs new warscrolls. Perhaps they could bring morghur back in some form or a named beastlord.

I would buy a Orion model in a heartbeat!

  9. Here is the latest progress on my army. It will probably be around summer when im done with the rest of the army.

Do any of you have any sugestions on how to do the trims? Or is it just that I lack the patience to take it "slow and steady"? Could it work with drybrush? (thinking of the Cathallers dress).

Me and many of the guys I play with (or, well, used to play with before this year) at my local shop use Battlefoam Magna Racks for transport - and honestly, with how spindly and easy to break the Lumineth models are, I'd probably have invested in one by now if I hadn't already owned one. As @Pyrescribe showed, there are definitely cheaper alternatives out there - but if you're willing to pay for them, I've never heard anyone complain about the quality you get for the price. I particularly appreciate that you can re-arrange the spacer legs within the case to make extra room for bigger models, so I shouldn't have any issues accommodating Teclis or Avalenor once I add them to my army (I can already comfortably fit the Stardrake and Celestant-Prime, which are also plenty big).

I'm not sure if there is a different/equivalent magnet type sold in the UK/EU, but thus far for my Lumineth I've been magnetizing with N42 D2H1 magnets. When glued directly to bottom, they're exactly the right size to fit most bases I've used - 32mm, 40mm, 50mm, and the 60x35 ovals used for the Dawnriders. They're just a tiny bit too tall for 25mm bases, though.

As an added bonus, since all my models are already magnetized for transport, I also picked up some of the magnetic movement trays from MiniMagTray. I expect they'll make it a bit easier to keep my Wardens and Sentinels in base-to-base contact to maintain Shining Company while moving them around the board, which could be a bit laborious if I had to move every model individually.

They look pretty big! But nice that they fit exactly. I have foam for my CoS army (that's mostly 25mm bases). Thanks for the suggestion.

? He explained every size in millimeters

Maybe I didn't pay attention, i thought he only said for the space marine (that I guess have a 32mm base?). Have to check the video again.

I forgot to add in that comment that I was wondering if there is a bigger alternative instead of using 2 small ones.

Thanks for all your suggestions! Feel free to add options that you have or have been thinking about.

Duncan Rhodes just put up a video on YouTube in which he explains how you can build your own miniatures case.

I saw that video. It was great. My only question after that is what size magnets I should get? (In metric system).

Good topic, that issue often comes up.

I heard that magnetizing is not that good if you have to fly a lot, which is likely in my case if everything gets back to a more normal situation.

Therefore I bought the Lumineth custom-cut foams from Battle Foam. I’ve just received the information that they are on the way today. I heard a bit of mixed feedback about them, but figured this is the best solution for me. So far I had good interactions with them. I’ll update here how I feel about the product once I’m using it.

Not exactly what you are asking for Howdyhedberg, but might be still interesting for some people, I hope.

I was thinking about putting that question too, but wasn't sure if there is anyone that would buy foam :)! Let us know how it works!

  12. Hello there!
I don't recall if I did ask this at the main topic, but I decided to make a new topic for future reference.

I imagine that it will be rough on the models (especially the Vanari Wardens) to store them in foam.
The best solution seems to be to store them with magnets

I've never done it before, so I guess I'm asking for suggestions and help from all the wise people here at the forum.

    Some questions:

    • How do you transport your LRL models? How do you storage them?
    • What size on the magnets do you use for the wardens (and it would be interesting to hear about Teclis and the spirit of the mountain too).

No Beasts of Chaos?  For shame.

No love for y'all. Same in total war warhammer!

(I'm thinking about buying that dlc though).

It would be great if that long list that was posted was true! Hopefully they will talk more about the books this Saturday!
