@Yuviel Lightbringer All of your statements are true.  But as someone who watched the X-men cartoon extensively as a child, I have an unhealthy attatchment to people who shoot lasers out of their eyes.  When I finally get to my Lord Regent model, I am totally painting a glow affect around the eye sockets!

I see great minds think alike. I painted my lord regent with yellow eyes for that exact purpose.  😀

Out of interest, has anyone had a chance to play Alumnia yet? If so, what’re your thoughts on them?

I have run a handful of test games against my DOK. it's pre-game move can be helpful either to capture ground with wardens or try and re-deploy to counter your opponent. The command ability to run and charge is useful to get things like stoneguard into combat faster with their 4" move. The waystone can be a get out of jail free card should a Scinari get caught in melee but it won't always work. as for the Command trait, it, ok at best. 1MW on a 2+ is fine but not winning any prizes.

I rally hope they're not 2 wound, or alarith lose some of what made them special. Aelves don't feel like a race that should have an abundance of 2 wound infantry.

These bladeloords are Vanari, so at the very least wizards. a one wound wizard unit with decent weapons is a big enough draw, without stepping on the toes of the Stoneguard.

I would image they are 1 wound infantry, 4+ save. hitting on 3+/2+, wounding on 3+, rend -1 damage 1 but with 3-4 attacks each. and a bonus if they charge, almost the oposite of alarith who can take a hit, these guys are more a glass cannon.

You think they are going to give ‘shinning company’ to artillery?

Shining Company requires at least 2 models from the same unit in base to base contact, to bypass that they could just have the artilery be a single base therefore unable to qualify for shining company.

New article on Wh community raises some questions about the swordmaster. She seems to be able to "channel the wind" and "channel the river" (The wizard "channels the zenith"). Wonder if Aelementiri can belong to two temples at the same time?

She could be a loreseeker, the people who master both tyronic and teclian, so that is why she has 2 elemental cards.

"These releases complete the initial Lumineth Realm-lords range and round out their tactical toolbox. Keep an eye out for a closer look at them throughout the week, including a series of videos to show you how to paint them up in all their gleaming glory!"

    Next waves sooner than expected?

Well we still have the underworlds warband to come, after that, perhaps the next set of releases come with "broken realms: teclis"?

    This!

Lumineth likely will eventually get decent tournament usage despite the fan controversy if you can even call it that.  IDK, Fyreslayers and Bonereapers all saw initial fanhate because of the model direction not aligning with the demands of fans and apparently didn't sell well, but they have dominated tournaments in in the past and have decent levels of usage and popularity post release, more so than other armies.  I expect Lumineth to follow that pattern.

I think looking back every at single AOS army release, there has seen a lot of hate, even popular fan armies like Ironjaws, Gloomspite and Sylvaneth have copped it.  It's hard to see if the hate is the majority or just a vocal minority though vs the actual people actually buying models.

If I had to guess most of the hate comes from a fairly small group who either are still attached to WFB (and whilst I cannot blame them they are taking it out on the wrong people) or those who saw the initial teasers then when the models and rules did not line up with what they imagined decried the whole thing. then there seems to be a handful who just seem to hate warhammer in general.

These dice are great. I had a set of cylindrical dice one and they rolled great. Not sure how rolling large numbers will work, but shouldn’t be a problem.

these are giving me a serious Mahjong vibe which I love.

best of all, despite how outlandish they may look, the pips are still just pips, so these will be easy to read for you and your opponent.

GW really seems to struggle with making usable/readable faction dice but between the pre-release set and these dice, I think the Lumineth are spoiled for great dice!

I agree, sometimes it feels like GW has forgotten that a dice need to finally stop rolling (squig dice) or actually be readable without a magnifing glass (idoneth dice).

It looks like this will be a 2 week release as predicted, with the majority of the Vanari this week, the Alarith should be next week with the dawnriders. Still my wallet is looking at me in dispair.

  9. @Nightseer2012 what you have highlighted is a writing issue that has plauged GW for years, they can write a grand cosmic scale but they seem to struggle to write a single person, almost as if they cannot see past a basic idea and motivation and then run out of steam beyond that so they just keep repeating the same thing again and again as they don't understand the hero/villians journey or how to apply it sucessfully.

Just... freakin' Morathi.  Her and Mannfred are my least favorite AoS characters.  At least when the Skaven muck something up it is funny.  But Morathi's perpetual "I'm going to take more than my fair share and ruin it for everyone" shtick got old a long time ago (like 5th edition Fantasy long time ago).  This is just going to stall Teclis' advance in his new war, because he will have to choose between his crusade to stabilize the Realms and repairing/re-hiding the prison of Slaanesh (which I doubt will be possible).

Another thought occurs, hopefully we don't have to wait for Slaanesh' now inevitable escape for Tyrion (and his entirely military complex) to get off his blind butt and do something.

I get where you come from but this was kinda the trait that makes me like Morathi (my other army is DOK), she is unrepentant, and will always do everything she can for more power, even irritate those being more powerful than her, its nice to be the villan sometimes.

Absolutely. Definitely seems like he’s getting out /on the brink of escape. I reckon these campaign books will lead up to 3rd edition, where we may perhaps see Slaanesh escape.

That is my line of thinking also, this is very reminicent of Psychic awakening for 40k, and if so we could see lumineth vs slannesh as the next big starter kit for 3rd edition. (I wish)

5th is the date of for pre-order of the Lumineth Black Library book, so very likely it’s also the one for the model range. It’s such a small range I hope they don’t keep us waiting another week.

And if they really put the Cathallar into the second week of the split I’d be pissed. That next to the archers is probably the model everyone who bought the box is waiting for the most.

It why I arranged it as I did, knowing GW they would split essential components so that way people will buy things both weeks and thus in their mind make more money.

So what are the guesses of when in September Lumineth will be dropping? I’d love for it to start early but I have a feeling it’ll be at the end.

if the release of other new armies is anything to go by I suspect we will get a staggered release over two weeks, week 1 being teclis, eltharion, wardens, sentinels and dawnriders, week 2 being cathallar, stonemage, stoneguard and mountain spirits.

As for dates I would think it would be around 5th-12th or 12th-19th.

Thinking about it more, I think it could happen.

Atm the only Aelves are Order. In WFB, Darkelves were Evil and Wood Elves were kinda Neutral.

Malerion is most likely going to be order, as stuff thats is in his background points that way, but I would love Tyrion to go evil and be Destruction with Dragons

the big issue there is it's too out oc character with how he is described in the lumineth book, especialy the way his journey at the start to find teclis is described and the "being*" he met.

*which I suspect is the spirit of hysh proper, instead of just it's moon.

lol maybe the reason we didnt get Tyrion is he is going to be a separate faction and be evil lol

"Tyrion, like Teclis, was instrumental in the rise of the Lumineth Realm-lords. We’re yet to see this masterful warrior – we assume he’s crusading somewhere else. Let’s hope he doesn’t run into any ancient, evil swords…*"

now that would be a twist, I always thought that malerion's forces would be destruction instead of order but if Tyrion did still hold the sword of khaine it would be a good plot hook for future conflict.

  16. well, at least it's now official that the rest of the lumineth are out in september.

    https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/07/27/the-aelven-pantheon/

the small references to maleraion and mortathi indicate those two are up to something big and I suspect it will cause havoc for everyone, likley straining diplomcy even further between the lumineth and malerions shadow-kin, especialy after their little stunt with the zenith mage revealed in the battletome.

like if the army of Syar is about to embark on a serious mission, but eltharion is technically within ziatrec right now. Could they use a matching set of armor (in a different paint scheme 😉) to summon his soul there to fight for them? or does the light of Eltharion have to walk across the realm like a peasant?

At the moment, I would imagine he has to treck manually as he seems bound to that single set of armour made by teclis,

Although lumineth being superior mages they likley have teleportation spells so if teclis or a council of mages was willing it's entirley possible to just hurl eltharion through a tempory sub-dimension to  reach a necessary fight elsewhere in the realms.

Not to mention the fact that you are also having to roll seperate dice each time for something that gives no advantage.

In the end I do agree with everything said about the paired hammers.  I may still use them however, even if the mallet or pick are better, something about the aesthetic of using two hammers just strikes a nice chord with me. I may just be weird though.

Bit lame for a champion to be the same as the rest of the unit still, when all others are usually something better like +1 attack or something.

if the champion takes the paired hammers they can re-roll all failed hit rolls, so the paired hammers do grant a bonus, it just depends on what you want in a unit/model, the mortals from the picks, the double damage from the mallet or the reliabiltiy to hit from the paired hammers.
