Yeah, I also think it would be weird for GW to make the updated Skaven CAD files necessary for the Underworld Warband and Skaven bombardier then decide not to use them to update anything else in that range. Though who knows? I don't think we've seen any skaveny rumor engines lately.

True but doesnt Chinese New Year extend into February? We've almost 11 months for something to come out and were definitely receiving the Sons and Lumineth in that time. I wouldn't be expecting a 3rd army this year so the only thing left to do is Update models really or add to Warbands.

Since safe bets are boring I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict a new battletome for one or more of Stormcast/Nighthaunt/Nurgle/Daughters though most likely Stormcast or Nighthaunt.

My 2nd risky bet will be a new unit kit or two for skaven, probably acolytes.

Skaven desperately need updated sculpts. It's the year of the Rat so one or two wouldnt be unlikely.

If the Size of the new Gargants is matching, and there is a ranged version, you could easily convert a falconer with the giant eagles from LotR SbG

I'm hoping itll be inbetween the Bonegrinder and Ghorgon in size.

Maybe! To be honest, I'd really hope the Gargants aren't super specialised - ideally they'll (all) be able to at least participate in each of the active phases of the turn, i.e. all having some sort of command ability, spell, or prayer, as well as a ranged attack and a melee attack. Having some be more focused on range or melee would obviously be fine.

Wishlist: I want to see an action hero Gargant firing a Great Cannon in each hand. I want a hunter/falconer-type with a siege bow and a massive bird of prey (a Roc?) that they set on people. I want a brawler that's wielding a carriage in one hand and a team of screaming horses in the other. I want a giant priest, hunched over, carrying an entire uprooted church and steeple on his back and swinging a huge censer.

Man, there are so many cool things that could be done with Gargants. I expect to be a little disappointed in whatever actually gets released, because the limits of practicality are always a downer compared to imagination.

I too want a Siege Gargant with a bow. A surge Ballistae torn from a war machine that he just uses as a standard bow like it were nothing.

But ****** that Steeple Gargant sounds bloody amazing and perfect for AOS. Credit where credit is due mate that's an incredible idea.

I'd love to see a living scenery piece. A massive pack mule that isnt a mule but a Mammoth. Festooned on it's back are barrels of ale, weapons, armour, ammo. In gameplay it could make attacks and have high wounds but low saves but it gives a buff to Gargants near it.

Aren't Sons of Behemats from chaos? destruction? what else? (not trolling, I dunno)

The Alliance itself hasnt been confirmed but theres a good bet that itll be Destruction and rightly so. Nothing says Destruction like Gargants and Destruction is the most empty Alliance.

    3 hours ago, Chumphammer said:

A lot of speculation is Giants, as there is an older warscroll for Giants which is Behemats.

I am swinging more towards Chaos Dwarfs. They are a legal army for AOS but all models are very old or forgeworld. Maybe they have made them in plastic and releasing an updated book and new options to purchase.

Looking fowards to seeing new stuff either way

Its 100% Gargants. The Old World announcement teased something Giant Coming to the Mortal Realms. And theres been a few Rumour Engines that definitely look Giant in scale. Not to mention the Sons are already established as literally being Gargants and children of the World Titan Behemat.

But you don't have to have greenskins in 2 of them, ogres and trolls.

A huge strength of AoS is the variety of army builds you can make, I love seeing fully themed and wacky armies on the table.

Of course you can choose to not field them but Gnoblars are still with Ogors.

I love themed and wacky armies as well but I think we should also have individual armies.

I'm all for them being a faction, the models would be amazing.

I still think we'll see some sort of goblins with the Sons. Thinking about it, the idea of goblins flying ships to talk/worship/feed the giants really appeals to me 😂

Personally I hope we dont get any Gits with the Sons. That would mean every Faction in Destruction would have Greenskinz.

Yeah, this is a really interesting question, and I think it's going to be key to the success of the Behemat line. Organic creatures have to be more varied and dynamic than war engines in order to be "satisfying" - people will notice pose similarities much more acutely than with robots. I'm looking forward to seeing how GW addresses this, because they've proven their ability to be very innovative in model design but this is a big challenge.

This will be interesting to see.

Thats the imperial knight model, and it was very very successful.  Started out as just a 1 kit army. That same kit was the foundation for 2 other kit variants for 7 different units..then they added a smaller model (which we already have with the current gargant!) And eventually added 2 more new kits (with a common sprue).

The tricky thing is that those are robots.. it's fairly easy to pose them in a lot of different ways.   For an organic crearure, how do you enable different poses without a lot of wasted bits?  GW has already moved almost completely away from posability with most of their range, which has caused me to turn to a "only 1 of each kit" rule (which means my armies are not very good!) Because especially for gargants, I will not pay for or field a force where 2 Giants have the same pose.

This is why I'm wondering if they will drop the Sons with 2 brand new kits and the Aleguzzlar will work the same as the Armiger in the Imperial Knights.

But more Online Previews scheduled ! At least that.

Between March and May we'll at least 4 of them which is a bit of a consolation for the cancellations.....

I feel for GW at the moment, not financially but more of the PR and Marketing building the hype for these events and showcases. That being said I commend GW for how they're handling the situation.

I'm with you, honestly. In general, I find the process of finding someone who wants the other half of the box, and then negotiating over how much each half is worth, to be entirely too much work. I don't like box-exclusive models, so I don't buy those boxes and just wait for the model to be released separately, or buy it second-hand.

Who knows, maybe the Sons of Behemat will all be built from one or two multi-part kits with a bunch of different build options included - if so, that's awesome. I'm just not holding my breath. ;)

Haha that's what I'm banking on with the Sons!! 2 kits with a variety of options and then perhaps a separate Leader kit, again with options.

  12. 1 hour ago, Kadeton said:

Hasn't it been fairly consistent that every battle box gets at least one showcase exclusive for each side? That seems to be part of the marketing strategy that underpins the whole idea of those boxes - people will buy the Space Wolves vs Orks box just to get the new Ghazghkull model, for instance.

I guess I'm just saying that hoping for a Behemat v Lumineth box while simultaneously hoping that it doesn't have an exclusive Gargant kit is just setting yourself up for disappointment. The only likely outcomes are either there will be a box with an exclusive Gargant, or there won't be a box at all.

In that case I'll selfishly prefer not to have one.

To be honest, there have not been new Stormcast sets for quite a while, and getting some reaction when something knocks on the gates of Azyr is logical.

The big guys should still be destruction though.

I'm all for more Stormhosts it's only logical, just not Sons of Behemat as one haha

    11 minutes ago, CommissarRotke said:

Sons of Behemat wouldn't be Destruction anyway; they come from a civilization of giants. I would rather have another Order army of actually fleshed out giants, than yet another iteration of "big stupid giants" that do nothing but smash and squish things

They can still be civilised and fight for Destruction. It would make for an even more interesting Faction. We need more diversity amongst the Factions, Destruction only has 3 .

we were tricked, Sons-oB were the ruination chamber all along and its just a chamber of stormcast gargants

Honestly I'd be more than an little angry at that. Order has the most Factions of any of the Alliances not to mention the highest number of models with the Stormcast, so to add yet another Faction to Order and make it another Stormcast Chamber would be a kick in the face to Destruction. I mean what's more Destruction than Gargants?!

P.S I know this was a hypothetical joke but it's something that has me concerned GW may pull.

Not going to lie, my favorite rumor/wishlist so far is for a Sons of Behemat vs. Lumineth box.  Since GW seem to be on a battlebox bender lately, i would drop money on one or two of those in a heartbeat.

They've literally just announced a Space Wolves VS Orkz Battle Box. I'd love a Sons/Lumineth box so long as there isnt an exclusive Gargant model.

Gordrakk walks up to Excelsis with his godbeast battering ram, and Sigmar is going to open the Ruination Chamber.(I think it is going to be bigger, stronger and tougher stormcast with all kinds of war machines) , as their purpose is to bring "Ruin" to his enemies.

Ruination Chamber will be the Anti-Destruction  chamber.

I'm calling it now,   this is what is going to happen.

I'd love to see Siege orientated Stormcast. Hammer Throwing Ballistae.

  17. 4 hours ago, michu said:

Not Azyr. Not yet. For now he's going to test his battering ram on Excelsis.

Because I hope that one of the well described cities won't become just a footnote in that campaign book "Gordrakk tested his new battering ram on the gates of Excelsis. It was super-effective. The city is in ruins."

Perhaps even to tie in the Lumineth, Excelsis is on the verge of collapse but the Realm Lords arrive and fend off the Waaagh leaving the city standing but a shadow of its former self.

  18. 4 hours ago, Bloodgut said:

I forgot about that. If thats the case then no. I can't imagine there being many unit types anyway(here's hoping for plenty of in unit variation though), so there probably won't be a box set.

I mean there still could be one, just with a unique Lumineth hero and the Sons side is almost like a Start Collecting Box.

I'm thinking at least 2 new kits much like the Imperial Knights, but I'm hoping for 3. Then a Scenery piece and the Battletome.

  19. 46 minutes ago, Bloodgut said:

Fingers crossed there is a Lumineth vs Sons of Behemat set.

I'd be all about it so long as one of the Gargant kits isnt exclusive. Otherwise I'll have to wait who knows how long to pick it up. At least a Year if they start releasing all the boxed exclusives of the previous year in the next.

  20. I'm hoping for 2 things.

Sons of Behemat tease/reveal. With the Lumineth release imminent I wouldnt be suprised if the Sons are more teased then revealed, though I'd rather the latter. Seeing as they would realistically only be 2 or 3 kits (Heres hoping for 3) potentially a Scenery piece and a Battletome they could very well be unveiled. If they're not fully revealed they will be at Warhammer Fest for a May/June release.

And the other being an Order VS Destruction Campaign book.

Ad Mech was slated for April, so yeah I expect that will be the next Psychic Awakening release.

For AoS....we have two Underworlds Bands, the last two released beginning of February, so I think late march/early april to wrap up Beastgrave is very likely.

Warcry feels like it's due at least one more release before Summer,  but nothing has been teased other than the continued absence of Scions of the Flame so who knows.

For that matter there's a Malign Portents/Forbidden Power sized hole in the summer schedule, I think we'll get a Destruction vs Order campaign book similar to Wrath of the Everchosen at some point, but it's not really the same thing.

Lumineth and Sons of Behemet are probably both a couple months out from now. Any new faction that comes out after that will probably be fall at the earliest.

I'd really love a new Campaign book, especially if its Order VS Destruction, I loved Wrath of the Everchosen.

Heres hoping if there is a new Campaign book that the Lumineth and Sons make an appearance.

So what is left to be released in the near future?

    • The battletomes have all been updated. Yes, that's the world now we live in now.
    • 2 Underworld warbands yet to be released: Orks and Daughters
    • One Warcry warband, although it hasn't been announced yet: Scions of Flame
    • The Lumineth are on that 2 week reveal cycle, and since there's still probably a few more units to reveal, I doubt they'll be available before maybe 2 months. Or they could just unveil everything at the not-really-Adepticon-preview.
    • Sons of Behemats haven't been announced yet.

Most of what has been revealed at GAMA(except the aelves) will probably be released in a single week.
Tomorrow of next Sunday will probably be 40k Saga of the Beast.

    Anything else?

I'm guessing Sons will either be announced if not definitely teased for the 'Adepticon' reveals and then fully revealed at Warhammer Fest for a May-June release.
