Some of the heroes have shooting attacks, albeit less reliable. Spells are another source of ranged damage. Endless Spells might be another one. You also have spells which allow you to hinder big monsters if you are lucky (with moral 10 though a bit harder to execute).

That’s pretty much spot on from @LuminethMage Eltharion’s MW dmg is not a missile attack (ability) so can run and still shoot (18+6”)

Don’t forget the Cathallar in Syar, her General C. Ability, park her 4” behind a block wardens and push CP, hero monster deathstars (a lot of them) can only attack her if she within 6”, (4” so weapons can’t reach)

  2. @ThalmorRepresentative Nice High Warden

@LuminethMage Ooh looking good with that Eltharion

    Just placed 2nd in my Local Shop's 1-day Round-Robin Tourney 😁

Mr. T does make Wardens tanky 🤭, archers can be swingy 😅

    1st Game - Focal Points:

3 Terrorgheist list - Feast Day Court Opp took more time as his first game vs LRL, worked in my favour in end. End Turn 2, I was in a lead and result was called. Major Victory. If 3A was my initiative (double turn), quite confident to clear another Terrorgheist to free a flank

2nd Game - Better Part of Valor:

Gladeless Sylvaneth, 3x3 Kurnoth melee, TLA, Durthu - Was too aggressive and lost a block of 20 wardens early, hence only managed a Minor Victory here, did take out Durthu easy with Spells/Wardens. 20 Sentinels cleared Branchwraith turn 1A.

3rd Game - Forcing the Hand:

Tzeentch - Kairos/Archaon/ 3x3 Flamers/ 10 Pinks. He placed his Deathstars towards one flank. Wardens w PowerHysh/Re-roll1s Save/5+FNP/AetherQuartz x2 +2 save, took 1 single dmg from a buffed Archaon in Turn 1. He took double in Turn 2, finished the Wardens and the other wardens w Teclis & spells finished Archaon Turn 2.  1 wound Teclis then flies to their empty obj and scores, resulting in a Major for me. *phew* 😅

    My Thoughts:

Teclis point sink is real. Little or min sized troops avail

Blocks of 10 wardens are not sufficient to take hits from most armies/Deathstar even with -1 and 5+FNP on.

Forgot my Lifeswarm combo whole day 🤦‍♂️ (Game 1 and 3, chose Ghyran to be able make D6 slain models come back)

A unit of 5xDawnriders (missing in my list for guaranteed 1st turn - 2 drop) makes a huge tactical difference (Not really gonna dent any 4+ screens though)

Sentinels in 10 block (9 shots) is very meh 😑 Especially if they are needed to set up separate from castle as far Obj holding

Teclis rule question: can I roll for Seeing Stone ability when my own unit is affected by the endless spell cast by myself?

It is only if your units affected by a) Endless Spell or b) spells cast by enemy wizard. So yes, if you Emerald Lifeswarm to "affect" your unit, Warscroll states you *can* choose to roll, 4+ healing doesn't happen but shoot D3 MW from affected unit.

A better application, Geminids when enemy unit close or in combat with wardens etc, if you willing risk 50% chance affect you for a D3 MW, can be done technically.

There is a crazy "Storm-effect" combo I wish not to reveal here yet. Lemme come back to you guys when I test it more irl. Playing a tourney this Sun. Wish me luck!

  4. Also interesting insight! Do you think the -1 to hit aura is better than the -1 to hit targeting debuff? And do you have any experiences with the majority sentinel / warden list? Cause that’s the one I reallywanna try too. I really need to learn how to use TTS...

    @Acid_Nine

The Aura is better overall, means it could affect more than 1 enemy unit. Not forgetting that if StoneMage within 12" of Giant Moo-cow, -1 hit aura range is still at Top bracket, 12" when it's damaged and by right "bracketed". Plus it's 20 more points for 2 more wounds, etc. But given the number of Deathstar Units flying around, I may test soon Alarith Spirit of Mountain instead for 3" range and -2 rend.

This one of my Non-Teclis Sentinels/Wardens list that I tested before on TTS. Only lost to a OBR list due to error in charging Dawnriders in turn 1 🤭 Barely lost on points but if they were around with Speed Hysh x 2 threat at flanks, game would have been slight Obj points win.

Played a couple games this week and I'm struggling. I ran:

    Zemetrica
    Avalenor
    Cathaller General
    Stonemage
    15 x Stoneguard
    15 Stoneguard
    15 x Stoneguard
    20 x Sentinels
    Hyshian Twinstones
    Sanctum of Amyntok

First game was against Deepkin. I thought the immunity to -2 rend and rerolling saves on stoneguard would help mitigate the damage from Eels a little but they still managed to kill all my heroes and enough stoneguard to make the others run away without any heroes left to use Inspiring Presence. Pretty brutal... Eels made a 13 inch charge to kill my cathaller, and without her around I couldn't stop my Stoneguard from fleeing in battleshock. It was a riptide list and he double turned me, so my first turn was 15 mins long and I failed all my spellcasts and then the next 2 hours and 45 mins were watching eels kill everything in my list without me being allowed to fight back... Not being able to use defensive command abilities on the second turn is heinous. In my sole shooting phase, my 20 sentinels were forced to shoot his general, who had an artefact that made him unable to be targeted to they did absolutely nothing. Avalenor had +2 attacks from command ability and not charging on top of rerolling hits of 1, improved rend by 1... but only 1 attack went through for a total of 5 damage so 1 dead eel. Felt totally hopeless from start to finish, probably the least fun game I've ever played. Feel like I lost that one before we even set up.

Hey bud, you aren't the only one struggling to put LRL TheoryCraft list to wonderful fruition.

Lemme share my experiences of having played around 7-8 2k Games on TTS. And some 1.25k games irl.

    1. Don't feel so bad about the loss to IDK. They are truly LRL army's worst nightmare as they lock your army in at back (We slow) by turn 2 and the rest get obj. Not to mention shoot nearest nullify Sentinel to some extent and the straight MW spell that can just delete heroes. That being said, I have faced an Eels list and won too but it's definitely not Ymetrica, was Iliatha list with typical Cathallar, voice of mountain and Darkness of Souls shenanigans. (Watching 6 eels run due to a warden unit almost wiped is gold)

    2) Avalenor damage output is swingy. Reason, coz it's -1 rend. Which is why I prefer Spirit of Mountain's extra range to 3" and a -2 rend I believe. But.....I "can't" take him given we have not enough hero selection and new GHB Bplans can reward hero characters for more VP.

    3) Ymetrica is great, but MW has always been a problem. Instead of Sentinels, a forward wardens should be the unit to "attempt" Protection of Hysh for 9" MW.  "Attempt" is the right word as theory hammer shows an amazing non-Teclis list with bubble. Irl, 40% of my matchups didn't get spell off consistently and that's devastating for us.

    4) I tend to favour Auralan Legion and Wardens / Sentinels lists. They have so far been my most competitive lists (Non-Teclis) Mind you when I joined the bandwagon, the first units I really wanted were stoneguard, but tactically not seeing this combo work well irl. Esp with the many shooty armies. Even Wardens being 1W each, I can mitigate turn 1 shooting Dmg by bring Emerald Lifeswarm and 50% of time (roll-off) select Ghyran to give D6 Wardens coming back. It's a combo that only works with 1W wardens, not Stoneguard.

Just want to say, we haven't seen all LRL faction's units. Hang in there. Play more and you will see our faction is Great vs some and can swing disadvantaged to others badly. But it's still fun and tactical.

If playing the units you liked is impt, just ignore above, and go for it. (E.g. Ymetrica) Hope you will enjoy your next games with them. Maybe try the Wardens being -2 to hit coz a Cow is nearby. 🤪 Or the Cathallar with spell portal making a Mawcrusha at back stuck by "Bravery check" using -2 from StoneMage too, can't move, charge, shoot, fight. Or Cathallar stand 5-6 inch behind Warden and activate CP in Syar, making Hero Deathstar target her but Outta Range. 😂 See we got options.

    apologies Long post.

Iliatha has a a pretty unique background story. Nice colorful scheme, also with the endless spell in the same way! I really like the art picture of the Iliatha warrior in the book.  Looks like more people are going to play Syar and Zaitrec (my favorite), so facing Iliatha might surprise some people, which is always nice.

Thanks! Wanted the dichotomy of White/Black also in my units, represent the Light/Dark of the idea of balance, Clones etc, a remembrance to the "Dark Days" and  glorious past of Iliatha.

not sure if ya noticed I changed Eltharion's Celennari blade too 😆

You are right, there is no specific range limit for the command abilities. You just need a hero on the battle field (condition to use any command abilities at all in the Core Rules).

    Hey thanks for clarifying.

i been using this CA for 2 blocks Sentinels in Iliatha setup. (1CP use)

Love Iliatha and the lore. The idea of the once-greatness of Clones really called out to me. Which is why my whole army is painted Iliatha colours as per Battletome.

Maybe I'm just being dumb, but I wanted to check how the Iliatha abilities worked. Unity of purpose says "after a friendly Iliatha Vanari unit uses a command ability...", and I just wanted to check what Iliatha Vanari units could use command abilities? As far as I know, we don't have Vanari heroes. What am I missing? Can all of the vanari units use command abilities?

I believe ANY Iliatha Vanari unit can use the Iliatha Command Ability (Even not needing a Hero within 12/18") to activate the Re-roll ones to hit. My take is the way the rule was written points to this.

    *Strike in Unison*
"You can use this command ability in your shooting phase or in the combat phase. If you do so, pick 1 friendly Iliatha Vanari unit with 2 or more models. You can re-roll hit rolls of 1 for that unit until the end of that phase."

Notice: No range requirement for the affected unit either (wholly within 12/18")

Also if it were the old application of "Volley Fire", you wouldn't need to re-word it as a new Command Ability. Plus don't forget, some Command Abilities are not always used from a Hero, some warscrolls or abilities allow non-hero units to use them.

Do correct me if I am wrong Guys.

Iliatha is underrated early by LRL generals in favour of Syar. But a lot forget that with only one Cathallar (Non-named hero) builds, it's the only way to make Cathallar a Know-2spell, Cast-2spell wizard. (Iliatha has no "Forced" Command Trait to give General)

  9. Read the rules for using Hydroxskin Cloak.

i don’t see limitation that the Verminlord cannot take and use this artefact.  Am I correct?

On a side note, saw other forums discussion of applying the effect of passing over any part of enemy unit model.

    Case 1:

Bearer with Hydroxskin cloak passes over fully to end behind or to side of enemy unit(3” away etc)

    Interpretation:

Fully passes over any part of that enemy unit so counts correct?

    Case 2:

Bearer with Cloak has a movement of 12” (VLord) but says it will move 6” toward enemy unit, crossing the unit model base and make a “turn” using the remaining 6” to end where it started or any position it’s remaining movement allows,

    Interpretation:

If the movement (Measured each step) allows this maneuver, this applies for the “passing over” any part of enemy model for the Cloak’s effect correct?

Appreciate your take on the interpretation of rules, although it sounds like a cloak must be Man-sized in nature, doesn’t mean a hero Monster cannot take it. An example is Blade artefacts of any kind, why do we then assume a Dinensional blade for example can be taken by a larger model and not just by a Man-sized model in nature.

  10. Hello, having a local shop Meeting Engagement  tourney tomo.

I play Skaven and own Gnawhole Faction terrain.

i saw Dec Errata for Faction Terrain had changed from last (Used to be 3” from edge/ 3” from other terrain and 1” objective).

It is now states clearly only 3” from other terrain and 1” objective.

Qn1: Can I for example, set up a Gnawhole, satisfy above new errata condition and say have about half of Gnawhole sit in the opponent Arrival edge?

Qn2: If no to above, if I satisfy the new errata (3”terrain/1”objective) can I set it up along an edge avoiding any ME arrival area of opponent? (or my own arrival edge?)

Nonetheless I am more inclined not to cheese of fellow player by probably going for Qn2 avoiding Arrival Edge. But always good to know what’s official rule.

I am assuming GW had taken the past yr feedback from people who bought Faction terrain unable to set it up (From the last rule change) and so allowed setup at edge too.

    Hope for some clarification.

    Thanks

  12. Haha that’s what I suspected and most us go by the “norm” of what the more experienced players so say.

really not here to trouble make but i think it’s just played wrong, think about it, buying more than one costly endless spell is equal to 1 or some times an elite unit cost. Balances itself out.

I still respect what my game community would agree on esp in tournaments. Just good to have it out there you know?

    thanks for sharing though

  13. Hi thanks for your analysis. But correct me if I am wrong, the text refers to the player owning physically two Vortex model.

when he referred to the both models active on battlefield was a past tense. Hence he was highlighting that he cannot use a 3rd only because 2 are active. (In fact that sentence acknowledges 2 are in play!)

We have a lot senior players who transited from WHFB and share your view. (only 1 at a time - sometimes coz it sounded lame and too powerful)

but the rule text above doesn’t 100% explain-all it is always only one. It clearly didn’t say otherwise.

other than this, if you build warscroll builder, you can choose multiple units of Vermintide in list by paying 40pts each.

also I read some country players even came to acknowledge you can but pay the cost each spell unit

  14. I play a Skaven army in Singapore. As I have one Vermintide endless Spells model from the box. I realised in the Compendium, it states that you can cast more than 1 endless spell to be active at same time in game (2 different times it is cast and not dispelled) as  long as you have the representing model physically on hand?

    is this true?

If on the warscrolls builder I select Vermintide for 40points but have physically 3 vermintide models, for that 40pts, can I utilise or cast out up to the 3 models I have to be active (Assume cast out by different wizard different turn and not yet dispelled)?

or is it that to use more than a single vermintide to be active you need select and pay for one more model (40pts) for each you wish to be active more than the on battlefield?

Hope you can help me on this ruling.
