  1. same dude, its so nice to finally have what should be a big part of the army actually powerful and useful instead of the pile of garbo it was.
  2. Yeah, SoJ on a Sword prince is pretty scary if you get full rerolls to hit on him. However there arent really many ways to fit him into synergy as he doesnt have the MORTAL keyword, so getting reroll hit rolls on him could be pretty hard. Its pretty much Call to Glory and thats it.
  3. Cause i'm an idiot and forgot which profile we were talking about. Lmao. You're right, the axe is better.
  4. Thanks! Shame people seem to like him better in things other than Host of the Everchosen.
  5. Its a save after save. So any damage you take after you make your standard saving throw you ignore on a 5+.
  6. sword of judgement is better against heroes but you arent fighting heroes/monsters most of the time, so rune blade is better overall
  7. I would take the Rune Blade instead of the Sword of Judgement on his axe.
  8. oh so your combo needs two other endless spells to also go off? And you were complaining about someone being able to roll 3 5s in a row? Also if your blob is warriors its impossible to get them to -4 in combat. -1 from lord of blights, -1 from shards, -1 from geminids. Unless theres some other way you're getting an extra minus.
  9. a list? no, you have one plaguebearer unit that does that. And it needs a CP, to have more than 20(30?) models, and have some guy with a relic standing behind them. That is in no way the same thing as stopping an enemy unit from doing something, lol. Its just making your unit hard to kill. Also its only -4 in shooting. -2 to hit in melee.
  10. For reference, to get into combat with a unit that has Dark Master on it, theres a 97% chance you cant. Show me another army that can do that.
  11. I wouldn't say the book is weak at all. Theres super powerful stuff in here my dude.

Its not optimzied at all, just what I could build out of the models I have (or am getting) however its gone well so far. if I were going to run Varanguard I would run this; Allegiance: ChaosLeadersArchaon the Everchosen (800)- GeneralChaos Lord (110)- Reaperblade & Daemonbound SteelChaos Sorcerer Lord (110)Battleline40 x Chaos Marauders (300)- FlailsUnits3 x Varanguard (300)- 3x Fellspears- Mark of Chaos: Khorne3 x Varanguard (300)- 3x Fellspears- Mark of Chaos: KhorneTotal: 1920 / 2000Extra Command Points: 0Allies: 0 / 400Wounds: 101 Always take 6th circle for Varanguard, it far outweighs the others.
  13. It might just be because of my preferred subfaction (Host of the Everchosen) but I've never had the problems others have had with killing models. In fact my issue has always been I'm too heavy into killing, and my only loss as of now has been to Tzeentch board control as I simply couldn't compete with 300+ horrors that sat on every obj. all of my units kill most things I send them at; Knights will average 16 damage on a 4+ save unit which is almost always enough (when they actually get to swing, I tend to use them to not let my Chaos Lord get killed) he averages only 15 damage, but in reality he often does 10 just with his axe(rune blade to give it -3 rend makes it kill most things, and even after that he has the rest of his attacks). And thats all with only guaranteed buffs (rr1s to hit and wound, +1 to wound from Archaon) and is very hard to kill with his 3+ save and d3 healing every turn. And Archaon obviously kills anything he touches and almost never dies with full reroll saves (again guaranteed) If we add in Daemonic Power from the sorc which isnt very hard to get off honestly, one of the units is pumped up even further. regardless, I think you can defiantly kill very effectively as StD if you spec for it. EDIT: I also think that once the Mindstealer comes out StD armies will become much better; effectively old Slaanesh fight last for 100pts is very very good and will help us lock down a dangerous unit and dogpile it.
  14. Be'lakor is 240 points, not 400. And its insane to me how you cant see the value of shutting down the opponents most valuable unit for 1/5th of the game. That ability alone can win you the game when they cannot make a critical move or charge, or cant shoot down a unit that they need to win.
  15. Are you kidding? Belakor is the best unit in the whole book. How can you think he isn't, much less completely useless?
  16. If its spear was just 2 damage, it might have a place somewhere. Yet here we are
  17. he must have got very lucky, needed an 8 on two dice to actually get that. To expand on your point OBR is actually why I wouldn't run Varanguard competitively - everything except for Mortek Guard Varanguard can mulch through in 1 turn(maaaaybe two) they bounce right off Mortek and make fools of themselves, and with OBR being such a dominant part of the meta, it makes Varanguard a hard pick, even when they are super good against everything else.
  18. Ensorcelled weapons in Sixth circle. They're the best choice unless you really really hate Mortek and nothing else in the game, in which case take Fellspears.
  19. I mean they arent exactly confused, its just slightly delayed. You just use Blood Tithe to fight again in the hero phase
  20. I didnt even realize the warshrines prayers got to reroll while near the Skull Altar. hmmmmm.... Ideas, ideas
  21. theres a few ways to do it. Slaanesh can use a Chaos Lord+Keeper of Secrets(as Archaon has the HEDONITE keyword) to get him to fight 3 times in a single combat phase for 2cp. (once base, twice for the CL, again for the KoS) In Khorne its pretty simple, you have a Chaos Lord to make him fight twice, and then spend Blood Tithe points to have Archaon fight in your (or your opponents) hero phase, hence 3 times.
