  1. I wish! Then I would have looked well-read, mysterious, bad girl energy Instead it was from an almost decade old children's TV show And I, an adult in my prime...m-made a parody version... ...on a Warhammer forum... ...on New Year's Eve... ...all alone... ...oh god.
  2. I've tweeted at WarCom with an offer to bribe them with copious amounts of Ur-gold if they convince the design team to make duardin women minis. That's why they held no live stream today, they had to first wait for the design team to quickly make mockups You can thank me later, I'm doing this for you guys
  3. 2/3 are AoS*, we did it TGA! *From a certain point of view
  4. I'm fully aware, after all, I infiltrate the hobby post my MS Paint pepes here instead of reddit and ramble on like Abe Simpson. But as the court jester of this forum I am clowning on everyone here (including myself).
  5. I wish I had a modicum of a singing voice so I could record--to the tune of 'What's the Use of Feeling (blue)--the certified TGA classic 'Return Back to Rumours (Please)'. Why would you want to argue sirs Topics that flamewar stirs Do you want geedubs sue? Mod hat on Return back to rumours, please I don’t care squat Of duardin phenotypes Leaks of 4chan’s rot Or Sigmarites in tights Words like colonise I fully try to ignore Where’s the rumours When the mods need it, please? We need them rumours, please!
  6. Please, Apollo, grant this mortal the gift of foresight.
  7. Feels like pure wishlisting. I mean, GW could shadowdrop OBR but why then hype up the lacklustre battlebox when they could hype OBR up instead, especially if we're not going to have some cool New Year's treat coming up.
  8. I don't want to be negative--there's a thin line between righteous indignation and a forum spiralling into negativity--but I found it absolutely telling that in their BL 2021 highlight only one book was from AoS...and it was the Dominion tie-in novel. I get that we aren't as big as the 40K community, but it feels like we're seen as a Specialist Game like blood bowl or LOTR. Well, LOTR seems to get awesome renewed support (although very deservedly so!)...
  9. I hope we get some teasers on New Year's because this board needs something new to talk about heheh
  10. There is something poetic--making me muse over faction stereotypes--that the Seraphon player descends middle of a fight, offers sage advice, shows reverence to the rotation of cosmic objects and then leaves. Thank you, Magnusaur. Sincerely, I wish you have a happy new year and that your 2022 is great. Thank you for visiting TGA today.
  11. Luckily we are on TGA, playing a game where the Realms actually happen to be flat So from a certain point of view...female duardin supports SURGES to 100%!
  12. That's going into the book It's going into the book so hard I had to "unreact" a post I really enjoyed just so I could 😕 here. Now THAT is e-grudging!
  13. I fully acknowledge that there is a reason why I'm not a miniature designer 😄 I have run out of daily reactions, so take this 🏆 and let it soothe your soul I'm duardin agnostic, I care not whence duardin women come
  14. I know not everything needs to be tailored to my tastes (and shouldn't), but it's that patriarchal system that has been a dealbreaker for me heh I feel you could look at female Fyreslayers from two angles: A) Out of lore. Unlike 40K, AoS isn't so established (Malerion, Tyrion etc no screentime yet, just as an example) to make retcons unbearable. And AoS community doesn't froth at the mouth from the thought, unlike 40K fans at fem Astartes. B) In lore. Life magic surges through the Realms, maybe the Fyreslayer birthrate explodes, or a million other reasons to explain the change. All trans duardin change into their identified gender? Fyreslayers get 'cloned' by life magic? Have a 40K-esque 'There's plenty of theories, we don't know' mystery box? The sky is the limit. I also think you could still contrast FS with KO--please correct me @zilberfrid if my interpretation is wrong--as the latter's egalitarianism stems from a libertarian/capitalist 'It's just bigger hiring pool for us!'. A full retcon of valkyries and Fyrequeens always existing could easily be framed from a conservative 'What do you mean "We should be a patriarchy"? The Runemother's line has reigned ever since me great-great-great-grandfather was a wee beardling! Hmph. Youth and their fanciful ideas...' POV. If pulled off well it could be a real fun subversion. Maybe harder to do with my life magic example, but I think a skilled writer could pull it off and let KO and FS remain their own niches.
  15. What brings me some joy is that "female duardin please" seems to be much more common position, at least on these boards, than I thought! GW may yet surprise us, but I don't expect anything but a single tome coming to FS (well...for a duardin faction, at least). We'll see soon.
  16. (Emphasis mine) I am once again dumbfounded by the sheer genius of Games Workshop! What is more Ulgu than miniatures reveal that you can never see, that seem to be just around the corner but disappear as if they were made of mist? Maybe all of us are Umbraneth/Malerion's aelves players now, we just didn't know it. To leave jokes aside and return to your first paragraph, I understand where you are coming from. There is a level of detachment in tabletop wargaming compared to tabletop rpgs, where there is less (even if there perhaps shouldn't) distinction between 'your character' and 'yourself'. But at the same time, I often feel I want something...okay, to use an example, Marc Alaimo was convinced that 'gul Dukat' in Star Trek: DS9 was a hero and not a villain. He found something in that despicable character, some twisted logic the character would employ, and used it to play gul Dukat as a hero (which made that character so memorable). In same vein I prefer armies in Warhammer where I can latch onto something that I recognise and then play as that faction. It ups the narrative drama, is a fantastic source for fanfic writing and it is just plain old fun. That is a reason why I tend to prefer the 'good' factions, the little guys (and why I want duardin women, c'mon give me this GW), but at same time I could run Drycha's Outcasts, Chorfs or Skaven (and why I feel ambivalent towards Kruleboyz, despite good enough lore). I could see Drycha full of pain, betrayed by her 'mother'figure. Chorfs of fantasy forgotten by their deity and as their hearts turned to hatred something malicious answered their prayers--and now they are too far to walk back from the path they set on. And Skaven are just hilarious, cowardly creatures. Who could hate Skaven? Now. I need the caveat that this doesn't mean I would in real world like any of the [Hashut excrement] Chorfs stand for--the opposite. I just feel it's easier to be the 'director' if you can also 'write the actor's dialogue', to continue your analogy. If GW gives me fem KO (well, ANY fem duardin) I'll put the money where my mouth is and single-handedly raise GW's stock. By purchasing miniatures. A lot of miniatures.
  17. The Theory In Progress I've seen is that it's subtly teasing upcoming armies. Of course, Whitefang himself has teased "something shadowy" related to Skaven (Eshin?!) so if TiP is true, it would mean Skaven are a distant thing. Which would be a bummer, I want Ninja Rats!
  18. I don't want this to come off as defending that (it's not, don't sl@tshame), but both were and are toxic and would need more than a few sessions of therapy. Their relationship has always been unhealthy and frankly I'm not sure which one would benefit from a restraining order from who. Maybe that's why I'm so interested in getting a Malerion army, so we'll get to know him better. Current AoS lore is quite ambivalent on where Malerion's moral compass lies, so it'll be interesting to see if his character underwent more changes than just in naming heheh
  19. inhales copium which small-sized faction is known for their evil ways and were so renowned slavers that it would affect the lore and miniatures of multiple armies? That's right, Chaos Dwarves. Chorfs confirmed! I have a friend who thinks exactly like this, and on the off-chance that there are more than one Malerion fan among 7 billion people you are her. Have faith. GW would be irrational leaving money like that on the table. And when has geedubs ever been irration- oh.
  20. Genuinely a great analysis. I fear some might call you overtly cynical or jaded, but at least I agree with you. Yes, even the controversial parts Obviously, neither of us truly know what happens inside the walls of the Silver Tower of Nottingham, but for anybody who has been in this hobby we all know GW acts...well, let's say 'mysterious ways'. Erratic. Mostly due to apparent change in strategies that are never communicated to us, the customers. That is a completely another topic entirely, but I can't but wonder how people would have felt learning that their $300+ armies have a shelf life of 2 years. Although in a way they are learning it at this very moment, as IDK and FS get treated abysmally because they weren't designed to last and thus had no future planned for them. Maybe this is entitlement on my part, I genuinely don't know, but I feel that is such an arrogant move to make. Planned obsolescence for plastic miniatures that will outlast not only every single game/movie I own (disc/data rot) but unless destroyed, any currently living human. I feel like you were spot on about 'vanity projects' - I wonder if the Ynnari in 40K was one such project, whose lore has them treading water. And although the bone mafia gets a chuckle out of me, I've only seen them rejected by the mummified corpse of the TK-fandom--because as you say, they aren't TK and never can be. Although I am not 100% with you on ending factions that cannot get out of the rank-and-file curse (unless I misunderstood you) - exactly because I am an old Bret fan and I have never found any other army that resonated to me in the same degree as Brets did. They are the army that got away, the summer love army you kissed painted under the apple tree. You will learn to love again. You will love again. But nobody could be that first pegasi knight. Maybe there was something profound in that sentence. Most likely not. I fully expect a Third Great Purge Impact. We are reaching--I would argue we already have--a critical level of how many armies can exist while maintaining support. Armies need to be souped together or we repeat the past of 'living dead' armies like Brets. What's done is done, it feels so bad. What once was happy now is sad, I'll never love again...
  21. I held in my heart hope, for if you could hold in your heart the youthful joy for all thing elves, then maybe today wasn't as dark as it became to be. To see our friends from the sea, whose love for seafood rivalled only by their mirth towards Idoneth, sing songs of lamentations was hard enough. But I wanted to believe. Believe that the man who exemplifies the virtues of the aelven kin would look at his seaside cousins, and break a smile. But alas, not even a scowling eel could bring you into a merry mood. As I write this I slump in my chair, in despair. I had expected those of duardin disposition harden their hearts, miniatures our ur-gold, aethergold, gromril. Our visions blurred from greed. I could see those belonging to the deepkin gaze towards Games Workshop with contempt, their fates a tragedy mirroring the fate of their beloved painted army men - betrayed and cast aside, their destiny bleak and their hearts growing cold. But when even the mighty casting their lot among the Lumineth - those who were supposed to be the purest of us - scowl, then truly all is lost. My hands shake. My laptop slumps on the floor. I weep, for the first time in a lifetime. And in the distance, dark gods of disappointing battle boxes laugh.
  22. I hate this because it was what happened to Brets and TK and when AoS started the consensus was that GW had changed and such blunders would never happen again... And look where we are now.
  23. I can't believe that you missed "KO - Corrupted by Chaos - Angry - Red - Hats" tease of Chorfs, @Neverchosen
