3.0 only has a few models with CAs in their warscrolls (all others were removed), and all new battletomes have a lot less tables (artifacts, spells, etc...) and all their Abilities are completely simplified: 3 main abilities+1 subfaction ability (Nurgle seems to have the most "complex" ones...).
Maybe it will be diferent, but I suggest to lower your expectations.
Deepkin in general have very few CA’s on the scrolls. Off the top of my head I think it’s just the Volty/King CA.

New book hype train fellow deep sea dwellers! Can’t wait!

Got to give it to GW that they put a new unit into the upcoming battle box, on top of the new NH hero.
I will be the first to admit that I thought their MO was a single new infantry hero in these 3rd Ed battle boxes.

Well seasons make only sense if there are changes. Plus 40k (where GW is now implanting two seasons a year) is a hint what direction they want to go.
Two GHB’s per year sounds atrocious. That’s way too fast in my opinion. I’m hoping we go to a new part of Ghur in GHB 2022 that more updates the current rule set for matched play than rewrites them. For the most part I think the current matched play rules in the GHB are pretty solid.

great work! for me it was about the same although I actually enjoyed painting wardens more
Thanks! I do lo love the wardens, I’m just thinking about how they are the staple of the army and how much they are to finish up.

Whoa, those are seriously amazing! The colour transitions are incredibly smooth! 😳
Have you already decided on a Great Nation? They look like Syar to me, but they could be whatever you want them to be, of course.
I have not done Sentinels yet, but let me tell you: if you have some Dawnriders, settle in for a long and winding road that will make you wish for the days when you thought that Wardens were a lot of work..
Thanks for the kind words! The list I am building is Helon, but the great thing about LRL is there a few great sub factions, so I have a Syar list as well!
I figured looking at the Dawnriders, so much trim.

I think that is a pretty save bet. GW uses the seasons shake up the meta (aka make us buy more different models).
Monstrous rampage will very likely stay because that is part of the core rules as is the "monsters count as 5 models". But the grand strategies and battle tactics (+1 victory point when a monster fulfills a tactic) are only GHB and are pretty likely to change. How can you say that with any certainty, haha. GHB 2021 started doing the seasons this year in Ghur haha.

I started on my first unit of Wardens and I completely underestimated how long it was going to take to paint LRL to the standard I am aiming for.
Just curious for those who have painted the units, how long do Sentinels take compared to Wardens? I’d imagine they are slightly easier with less armor trim.
absolutely love the models and aesthetics so I am buckling up for the ride. I want to bring my LRL to Da Boyz this year so I’m hoping I can do this army in time.

We should keep in mind that the next AoS Season won't be located in Gur and the monster-focus will fade.
That hasn’t been confirmed, I wouldn’t be surprised if we stayed in Ghur to be honest. It doesn’t feel like much has happened on the AoS front since Dominion and doesn’t seem to be any big blockbuster releases on the immediate horizon.

Sharks as monsters would be easy VP for your opponents, I think it’s a positive they are not monsters. As a hammer they’re going to get targeted regardless.

I was thinking about that too, but you'll have to sacrifice some hero power if you do most likely. Depending on them becoming battleline or not that is. Any idea what you would run with that?
I’m really liking the Storm and Tidecaster for heroes. I wish there was points for a king as well, but there are some hard choices right now.
I also have never built an IDK list without Ishlaen Guard, they are just too valuable. Depending on what gets to be Battleline in the new tome, I would say 2 x 10 Thralls, 1 x 10 Reavers, 2 x 3 Ishlaen and the Sharks and the heroes I listed above should sit somewhere around 2k.
while I do like the turtle, there just isn’t enough room unfortunately. Unless you are throwing him into low armor save units his damage is somewhat underwhelming in my opinion.
I hope the king gets an interesting role in the new book, right now he is just hard to justify because you need to keep him alive until high tide. I wish he was more a dueler piece you could throw up and survive on his own. 7 wounds is rough with no ward save.

I’m loving the idea of a heavy shark build, 2x2 with harpoons and a lone wolf with a net to rove around and mess with pile ins.

Please be more than the IDK and FS times revealed at LVO lol.

Scrolls are looking fantastic. Points seem a little steep, but let’s see the new book and synergies.

Also no clause on the hero's warscroll preventing a namarti unit from benefitting from multiple stances, so if you had 2 of them near a namarti unit they could benefit from both.
Let’s take a moment to think about that statement.

I’m not expecting much for AoS, but I do hope to get the official announcement for the new IDK book (and FS), but just a simple roadmap of the next three tomes would make me happy.

I might just skip the rest of this edition and go play 40k for a bit. The new Eldar and chaos stuff coming up seems a lot more exciting.
The last thing I need for my Idoneth is a random foot hero. I've already got 4 random foot heroes that don't see much play.
Eh, with a new scroll including 2” reach Thralls could be super interesting. IDK needs some rules love, but I think the best play style is a mixed arms force. I’d just say don’t write IDK off if you play it. The new book could open up the army a bit.

I was really looking forward to the new IDK model, but I’m not overwhelmed by it to be honest. Hopefully there’s a little more in store on top of a new tome.
-
I’m just hoping they tell us the next three tomes which are Nighthaunt then IDK/Fyreslayers.

Looks like the new IDK hero has been “revealed” on the new Gotrek book. Hope she has a ward save lol

Ah that feeling that IDK is getting some love soon.

@vinnyt Really nice write up and synopsis. I really like that you’ve moved away from Volturnos/King and Morrsarr. My painted IDK is mostly all Akhelian units, but I really see the value in a more even spread of units. I think Morrsarr have lost an insane amount of value in 3.0. Especially when you look at GoreGruntas. I like the Tidecaster general and Eidolon for heroes. I also really like the 2x2 sharks with a harpoon/net in each unit. It’s enough decent shooting with the Leviadon to kill a stupid fox here and there. And hitting people with nets and tagging Ishlaen is so, so strong. There’s so much more to this army than Volturnos and Morrsarr oops all eels

Has anyone seen a conversion that uses the new 40k Killrig big squig or whatever it is for a Mawkrusha? My interest in piqued into IJ if so.

The Wide Ethersea on the Tidecaster scroll isn’t a CA homie.
I’m really looking forward to the new book and some new interesting additions, overall I think the original IDK book did hold up and there are some really really well written scrolls in the army to this day.
