  1. Quick update on the tournament list i posted at the end of the week now the tournament is over. I came 9th out of 18 so for my first time i'm pretty pleased. Played squig heavy gloomspite, skryre skaven and troggoths with rogue idol. The highlight was the beastlord with gnarlblade killing a collosal squig in the first round of combat after ambush. Lowlight was the fact that its hard to kill even a single troggoth with their 4+ armour and 5+ feel no pain. Any suggestion as to how to deal with that is welcomed. Summoning chariots kept me alive in the skaven game as there were 12 stormfiends, 30 acolytes ans 6 jezzails shooting the hell out of everything. Biggest mistake was ambushing ungor raiders and a screen of bestigor without a hero for inspiring presence so one round of shooting and combat with some stormfiends finished them off. Any further suggestions are still welcomed as i believe there'll be another club tournament in the early new year.
  2. It's my first tournament at my local gaming shop tomorrow and this is what I'm running. As a tournament newbie and knowing that there are skaven, FEC and Slaanesh players attending I am anticipating three straight losses but I'd be interested to know if you think I've put a decent list together (or not!): Gavespawn with Desolating Beastherd: Beastlord w/ Gnarlblade. Bray Shaman Grashrak Tzaangor Shaman w/ Knowing Eye 3 x 10 Bestigors Chaos Spawn (for the command ability buff) 10 Warhounds (backfield screen) 30 Ungor Raiders Grashrak's Dudes (sacrifice) 10 Gors w/ Shields (chaff) 10 Ungors (chaff) Ghorgon Wildfire Taurus Balewind Vortex (for Grashrak to sit on and sacrifice his dudes and blast out his savage bolt over long range). Suffocating Gravetide (because I had 20 pts and we're playing the tournament in Shyish)
  3. Back to Grashrak with a quick question - as a named character can he also choose a spell from the 6 brayherd spells (stranglethorns, wild rampage etc)?
  4. One of the three greatfrays you can choose for your army. They give you some extra abilities at the expense of deciding your artifacts and command trait. Gavespawn is the one that means your dead heroes turn into chaos spawn and the spawns can buff your units. The artifact is wonderful too.
  5. Not sure as Shaggy can at least fight a little and his own spell is pretty good. Maybe drop the spawn, unless you're running Gavespawn or one chariot.
  6. I'd get the wildfire taurus endless spell in. The mortal wounds are nice but the additional effect of all units that take wounds having to fight last can be a great way to protect yourself from losing bodies.
  7. Thanks for the prompt response, shame it wasn't the answer I hoped for
  8. Battalion question - I've searched across the forum and I can't find an answer. When running the desolating beastherd with ungor raiders, do they need to be in the enemy territory to get the 6 to hit = 2 hits or is it just the target that needs to be in enemy territory?
  9. Doh, immediately realised we have grashrak from beastgrave!
  10. Quick question - i'm running the pestilent throng battalion but i'm unsure where to measure from at the point where the unit blows up in a shower of pus and guts if its an infantry unit that loses for example 5 guys in one go - all 5 dudes or the last man standing?
