I guess I set up the warscroll builder wrong / didn't fully grasp the requirements welp... my list is still 1000 even with 2x5 sequitors
-
I could have sworn GW said you need 2 battleline in M.E?

they just need to have a niche and not feel like a waste of points
this is exactly my concern since I really enjoy their model design, but it feels like there are many better units to buy over them.

I think its up to the players to do research before investing, and I think its also up to the community around them to warn them about the trap armies instead of letting them spend a lot of money on an army that is horrible. As much as people like to tout hobby and all, most people I have been exposed to really do want to not get crushed simply because of army choice (i'm not referring to tournament level I'm referring to the base store for fun level).
How much can you expect someone new (or young) to research before choosing though..? Because really, you should also be picking an army based on what you'd like to build and paint, and the lore that resonates with you the most--not just the capacity to win. I understand the "rule of cool" only takes you so far, but if someone abso-f!@#ing-lutely loves the idea of Steampunk dwarves, why should they be punished when they find out the cool models they made do poorly against others?
More than the current meta frontrunners should be coming off the shelves, and new players shouldn't need to feel like they wasted money (which would take them out of the hobby entirely) because everything about the army is awesome aside from the table play.

To get back on topic, I feel like having another underwater themed force would do good to flesh out the Deepkin and to say where their theme begins and ends. Underwater civilization = Deepkin, nomadic pirates = Vampire Coast, raiders with a homeport = scourge privateers.
that's a fair breakdown; Deepkin steal souls while Vampirates want the bodies, Scourge wants (living) slaves too

I feel Deepkin should have been that... or full see creatures army : shark or crab face guys on giant krakens...
yeah that's part of why I feel like Vampirates would be a strange addition; why not make the Deepkin 'deeper'

NICE, vanguard have such cool models

Vampire Coast works decently in TWW2, but I don't think I would like them in AOS when there's so many more fantastical armies they could do; ulgu and hysh aelves, kurnothi, grungni army, scuttlers...

IIRC one of the Cities of Sigmar command abilities lets them fight twice.
I guess that makes sense then, I have been wondering how CoS would affect our unit rules..

is it crude, or just old/rusted 😜

So they did clarify this to the intended usage, but no mention of Hurricanes is weird
QuoteQ: If I use the Anvils of the Heldenhammer ‘Heroes of Another Age’ command ability on a friendly Vanguard-Raptors with Longstrike Crossbows unit in my hero phase, are they treated as not having moved for the purposes of their ‘Longshot’ ability?
A: No.
The Evo errata seems to mean they can only do their arc once? I don't know how SCE even make units fight twice in a phase anyway though so...
QuoteCelestial Lightning Arc Change the second sentence of the rule to:‘In addition, after this unit has been picked to fight for the first time in a phase, after all of its attacks have been resolved, you can pick 1 enemy unit within 3" of this unit.’
This is all a bit ://

Who's suggesting that this is how GW is doing it from now on?
They said they're doing FAQ and points changes twice a year leading up to the GHB2019?

I honestly don't see it as that big of a deal and expect it to be fixed within a day or two.
I get it that people are excited to see their army buffed/nerfed right now and that is why it is annoying.
It just makes ZERO sense from both a consumer and back end perspective. Why do they need to be trickled out? If this is an infrastructure problem, they need to upgrade their site. If it's a workflow problem, it should be automated to a point where they go up all together or one after the other.
Instead we get some trickled out *in different languages*, others aren't even in the correct AOS section or disappearing, ones in the AOS section don't even show up properly when sorting "recently updated"..... like it's an absolute mess for GW saying this is what they'll be doing from now on, and consistently taking in high profit margins by year.

I've been refreshing anxiously.
i don't understand what's taking so long tbh, is it more than a quick PDF upload?

@Lucur how do you use Scions in M.E?
-
I don't have all of this built yet but here's what I planned on trying out if anyone else is interested
QuoteSpearhead
Lord-Arcanum (160)
- General
- Spell: Chain Lightning
5 x Sequitors (130)
- Stormsmite Mauls and Soulshields
- 2x Stormsmite Greatmaces
3 x Vanguard-Raptors with Longstrike Crossbows (170)
Main Body
Knight-Incantor (140)
- Spell: Azyrite Halo
5 x Sequitors (130)
- Stormsmite Mauls and Soulshields
- 3x Stormsmite Greatmaces
3 x Aetherwings (50)
Rearguard
5 x Evocators (220)
- Lore of Invigoration: Celestial Bladesthe spells and unit order are up for changes but I thought this would work well on the small tables size
edit: I just realized I didn't pick a Stormhost... I think I was told Staunch Defender would be best

new FAQ/points updates today! https://www.warhammer-community.com/faqs/

Looks like the FAQs/Erratas are about to release like in a few minutes, the FAQ page just took down the sections for a bunch of armies that I think coincide with what they said were going to get points updates.
i came to ask where the heck the AOS news was, it's been all 40k on warhammer-community...
edit: where the heck is the FAQ table of contents? the faction specific links are PDF uploads
edit2: doh https://www.warhammer-community.com/faqs/

while I do understand the balance of wargames, it really makes negative sense for an "artefact" to have a chance to explode. we're not talking about a miscast or misfire here

Well, only like 5 armies lack 2 ed tome. Nurgle, Seraphone, Khadrons, Tzeentch and DoK i think. So i think we will be next after them.
I thought the DOK tome was 2.0?
Lucky for us, these handful could be paired off / released together and make the wait shorter
-
Why no points reduction for Judicators? 140 seems better than the 160 they're at right now... It would be cool to see more FNP for us, like how you have the Castellant. This is a lot to sort through but I'm liking the Hallowed Knights changes, Castigator upgrade, Sacrosanct being all Daemon and Death keywords, and the 3 ups for paladins!

(1) Only 3 heroes ? add a Knight-Incantor maybe?
You really need at least one K.I for the auto-dispel feature. you should also have some aetherwings to screen for the longstrikes. Unfortunately... this would be easiest by replacing the Sequitors with liberators

Hate to agree and I can't tell if it's because I'm reading more about playing than hobbying/painting itself, but I'm about to return the Vanguard SC box my girlfriend bought me to wait on Hysh aelves I know I've got my own painting-block hill to get over, but the dread feeling that I won't enjoy Stormcast if I ever play again makes that block a bit heavier itself.
