  1. Sitting on a Vanguard SC box to trade in for a LRL preorder :( hoping they have some kind of combo/SC box... not a fan of shelling out for a dual box only to sell the other half.

I agree that a quick article every 2 weeks is not cutting it, especially since there's not really any other AOS type news?? I've been enjoying the Tau stuff from Psychic Awakening but good gods give us some meat to the AOS news. The big news for Warcry cards got such tiny blurbs that had players asking questions as to what exactly was included in the pack

It is doubly smart because they really do not have the production capacity to add more kits right now,

this is why GW doing a gargant army makes me nervous: they have limited production, and wouldn't those sprues take more space than new units for other smaller factions?

I hope we'll get a sense of how big the Lumineth release will be tomorrow (22nd) at the Toy Fair... and eyes on the final Underworld warbands.

  3. Came to check the rumors and now not only did I learn something new about human eyes but I want new, brighter paints AND I also might need extra $$ for Seraphon resculpts??

Now I can't think of anything but iridescent lizards, if that's even possible with acrylics

Feb 22nd cannot come fast enough

I know I will be in the minority on this one, I really hope that they do not include the bolt thrower, I know I said they would probably, but I have always loathed the bolt throwers from WHFB. I want to see something more fantastic than a bolt thrower.... yes I know that the sigmarines have bolt throwers...

what about a bolt thrower... on a flying chariot?

So, as we have nothing much to do besides  speculations, how about having some fun with the names? So far we have:

    Vanari Auralan Wardens

    Vanari Dawnriders

    Auralan Sentinels

And we know that there is a Tyrionic/Teclian, Sun/Moon dichotomy thing going on, and the Vanari Auralan Wardens having both. So might those be the Lumenithian names for this? Vanari being the Sun/Tyrion aspect? Because "Dawnrider"? And Auralan the moon aspect? Or the other way round?

Of course in the article they also call the Vanari Auralan Wardens just Auralan Wardens, and the Dawnriders are also equipped with moon symbols on their shields, so this could be something totally different. Any ideas?

we'll see when the cavalry article comes out probably, I was under the impression that the spears, bows, and cav were all Auralan

It's the art of the Warden they use in the article. The close up on the face on the wedge to the article and the full Warden in the article next to the "Who Are They" caption: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/02/10/the-lumineth-lowdown-part-2-spear-phalanxes-and-runic-symbolismgw-homepage-post-2/

Because he has fiery eyes, and a fiery or sun color scheme some of us just called him Zenith Warden.

oohh i thought y'all meant the blue one ha

Heartbeats before combat is joined, the sunmetal tips of the Wardens’ spears flare into life with the solar energies they have absorbed, tearing through armour, flesh and bone as their Wardens skewer their would-be attackers with thrusts of lethal precision. They are led by High Wardens, imperious Lumineth officers who stand at the rear of each phalanx. Easily identified by their decorative back-banners, the High Wardens direct the warriors under their command and channel the magic of Hysh into their enchanted weapons to the utter ruin of their enemies.

So, combat phase buff like Sequitors + possibly decentralized CP like OBR? Where the unit leader can further buff a unit with their own command.

Their armour is bedecked with sun and moon icons, symbolising the twin gods of Hysh, for their warriors are neither Tyrionic nor Teclian exclusively.

I'm sure there will be differing mages to reflect the Lumineth aspects, but I'm wondering if this sentence means the special/elite units are going to be Tyrionic or Teclian specifically, or if each brother also handles different aspects (i.e earth/fire for Tyrion and water/air for Teclis)

    Quote

Each of the Auralan Wardens carries a short sword strapped to their backs. Though not designed to be their primary weapons, these blades would be drawn for self-defence should an enemy get inside their reach

Spear attacks on turn they're charged/they charge, then sword otherwise? Or perhaps a secondary unit rule?

Integral to this is the Runic Mandala, the Lumineth evolution of the Pantheonic Mandala which once depicted the aelven gods from the world-that-was. In addition to representing an amalgam of the runes of the four Hyshian geomantic spirits, the more elaborate versions incorporate the twin aspects of sun and moon, both separate yet intrinsically linked, just as with the godly twins that embody them.

So any rumors that don't look like Eldar runes or Old World Elf runes are Lumineth, and we can expect the book to have  a new alphabet for transcribing this new language!

But at the same time, that was one of the things that killed WHFB.  They had pretty much fleshed the setting out as much as they could from a wargames perspective.  They wound up just re-releasing new sculpts for models nost of the time.  The little bit of new stuff they did come out with felt very forced in the setting.  It's the one big thing I like about AOS.  They have really thrown the gates open to embrace any weird idea they want to come up with.  That's also why I'm excited about the Lumineth.  They look to be a fantastic blending of the new and the old.

this is why I quickly got over the End Times being written poorly, once I actually gave AOS a chance. SO much more to be done. The Old World looks like it will be an earlier imperial year than what Total Warhammer and 8th ed are, but it still leave little room for anything new.

  9. I am expecting:

    an archer Vanari/Auralan battleline

a chariot, since hawk ones were squatted

    sphinx behemoth by itself

elite units for each aspect: wind, water, earth, fire(?) - these might overlap with infantry, cavalry, and siege/behemoth/special units

one hero for each aspect, mixed bag of melee/caster

the hammer rumor mills look like they'd fit into Lumineth... earth aspect elites?

  10. Both SCE and NH need new books, they have fallen behind as AOS 2.0 has been fleshed out. I think DOK have an older book, but they've been doing quite well through 2.0 from what I've read., while the two armies to most likely bring new people into the game are lukewarm. Not only is that bad for repeat customers, but it's bad to advertise to new ones. I don't think anyone here wants an OP book, and I don't think we expect every single unit to be viable in any build, but I don't think it's asking too much to put what are supposed to be literal demigod soldiers at a level where they feel that way on the tabletop.

Again like the previous one it could just be the angle but they look too thin to be hammers, I'm heading towards them being different tops to staffs for a Lumineth wizard to represent which order/element/whatever we're calling it that they're from?

idk, they make shoulderpads way too big so who's to say they didnt make the hammers smaller :P

  12. Yeah the list sounded nonsensical, because of how lacking its support would be. I cannot find any other claim or even a mention of a list like this, and the LVO I saw mentioned had a basic 20 block sequitor list that won not 24 longstrikes... it's probably the most bizarre list I've seen someone tell a new player to go for :/

  13. Today I saw a discussion on the subreddit, someone claimed there was a 24x raptor (2x12) Anvilstrike list? I have never seen any of y'all talk about having that many raptors, but they said it was in tournaments..? I can't find anything searching in the megathread but not sure how accurate searches are.

@PJetski have you heard about a list like that?

I think any that do, are a coincidence. The text is meaningless. The one that was just revealed as the Zoat for example just had this text:

Behold the Rumour Engine! Can you predict what it is?’

    Or this, from Vorkmortens coffin:

With a crash of thunder and a flash of light, the Rumour Engine sends another image back through the vortex of time! Can you decipher this glimpse of the future?’

Most of them are just vague references to the engine itself or seeing the future.

    Now hold on a sec...

"Behold" -> the Zoat is holding a gun

Might not be one word but "With a crash of thunder and a flash of light" is clearly a reference to how coffins are ALWAYS dug up in a thunderstorm

ladies and gentlemen start your guessing!

the moon looks like obsidian or some other hard (crystal?) material. It's tied to something so we're looking at a pole not a staff.

if you flip it upside down, it looks like some sort of focusing device? The first Lumineth lore talks about how powerful their wizards are so my guess is a support/siege weapon for Lumineth.
