Or would that be just way too many models anyway?

My guess is it's 4 different heroes one for each aspect; some could be priests instead of mages, 2 of 4 will probably be more martial but still allow buffs like Loremasters.

Not sure if they'd split mounts up by aspect, especially since they have overlap: a clydesdale horse would be "mountain", while an Arabian would be "wind" or "water", etc. Monsters I could see maybe being aspected but again we had 2 different phoenixes so unless this release is huge, idk if we should expect the Aspects to be outside of subfactions and magic at this point...

  2. I hear of this sometimes, and I wanted to ask if anyone has tips on how to best balance building with painting like this? Pictures in progress etc.

I understand leaving off shields, heavy weapons, backpacks, pauldrons, etc the EXTRA stuff like that which covers up the main body/armor--but I haven't seen what this actually looks like or what sub-assembling even further looks like. I've left parts of my Soul Wars stormcast unglued to try this out, however I don't always want half built models just because I'll *eventually* paint them.

Is this something for advanced painting, or a trick I can utilize as a beginner/middling painter? Is it worth accounting for during building, outside of the extras/finishing touches?

  3. Finally started painting this weekend, really hoping to get something substantive this next week because painting Stormcast felt good and I'm sitting on a start collecting to exchange for Lumineth...

I doubt we'll see anything new before Adepticon. Probably a short lore expose, hopefully about the Eltharion armor.

  4. Checked the community site for the 2nd time today and was pleasantly surprised to see the Seraphon lore! But then it dawned on me... Space Wolves are a single chapter of Space Marines, and yet have had 3 different lore tidbits (2 PA shorts plus a part 1 today).

Does it annoy anyone else that GW is churning out lore content for 40k but for AOS it feels like we're being drip fed? Is it because of PA specifically?

The hammer unit serves the spirit of the mountains. Who I think will also be a monster hero similar to the Sphynx that is with Teclis.  " animal humanoid hybrid with an elf mask face, wielding a big  hammer"

Whitewolf has been giving hints with his "little hammer and big hammer" comment that was in the rumor thread.

do you have a link for this comment? that is very intriguing, idk why I hadn't thought of a behemoth type unit being an actual aspect spirit

  6. which is fair! there's been decades of these fantasy tropes that it will feel weird when anyone breaks them, and especially GW because they're actually modelling these changes into their massive tabletop/lore game.

I've always been a spear and axe man myself, heck I'm not a fan of Liberators because of it and I chose SCE as a first army, but hammer wielding elves that will most likely be channeling magic while fighting? That sounds too cool to pass up.

  7. Axes aren't that much more elegant than hammers, and you do still need to be precise with hammers in the same way as axes? They're both top heavy and leave you open if you don't follow through properly. I think the idea that hammers are too savage or lesser for elves is based in the more "uncivilized" races having them as iconic weapons.

Weapons are tools. They aren't flashy in just anyone's hands; training is required for that. Orcs have swords, spears, and axes, and no one would say they're martial or elegant with them. What better way to make hammers more 'martial' than to give them to elves?

Do we have any clue what will be included? Im hoping for a Bloodwrack Medusa sculpt.

Some of the card art within the Beastgrave set showed witch aelves (of course), and I believe a couple had melusai on it in some fashion. My guess would be 3-5 model warband, no hopes for something like a bloodwrack though :( maybe a new Hag Queen mode/stand-in for sure with the leader.

  9. I'm really hesitant to buy any AOS novels because of how pulpy and reductive Warhammer novels can be. I had to stop reading an omnibus for some 40k war sector because by the 2nd story it was just...the same thing... and even though I've read cool Guard/Imperium stories, I found that too many of the books I was buying had the same feel and structure to them. I was heavily disappointed to see a lot of people reviewing Blind King in the same way: lukewarm Hamlet where the protag learns *nothing* and no real IDK culture background.

I got Soul Wars for 1$ off humble bundle at least, so I'm hoping that's a good plot with nice characters. I do hear it's one of the better books/

  10. If anything I think the Seraphon are out of stock because of repackaging, then renewed interest. Unless GW is really going to have a huge explosion of reveals for solely AOS tabletop at Adepticon, new sculpts seem out of the question with Lumineth and Behemat being newest releases.

I just want the darn DOK warband already at this point. The 2 LRL articles before Adepticon are likely to be lore over any model reveals IMO, or small rule tidbits

  11. Unfortunately I don't have the space or the money to switch from SCE, so once I buy some of the new Lumineth that's basically it for me minus small stuff like warbands... narrative/skirmish style games I'm sure are less taxing and more chill fun though so we'll see how that goes

Doesn't that look a bit like the hammer we saw a few weeks ago in one of the rumours?

People didn't want to believe it was a hammer because "elves don't use hammers!!" but honestly I've been ready for more elves with axes and hammers, and I think they'll look dope when they're finally revealed!

I will now pause to eat my very large serving of crow after vigourously saying that the Rumour Engine picture was not a hammer.  To every one who said it was I bow in concession.

thank you :P I think the high fantasy aesthetic will do hammer elves justice for sure

  13. So the article didn't say that much, but I think it confirms that Auralan is for Teclis and Vanari is for Tyrion. Especially this paragraph about heraldry

    Quote

The icons on the unit’s shields, however, are intended to be something more akin to the personal pageantry of the knight carrying them. These often include stylised sun and phoenix symbols – though formally centre-aligned between the Hyshian gods, a more militaristic, Tyrionic influence is clearly prevalent. This is further emphasised by the majestic phoenix design on the Dawnriders’ fluttering banner, though Neil also ensured that Teclian moons were commonplace on the miniatures to maintain the balance between the two Lumineth deities.

More models will be shown at Adepticon right? Hoping the archers will be Vanari Auralan something and we'll get to see some brother-specific units.

edit: Just checked and phew I hope we see more Lumineth before March 25th...

I have the Ibooks epup Skirmish book.  I had no idea that there were newer rules somewhere.  I did just look at the latest errata from the book, and the epup has been updated to include to the errata, so I assume the rules are current.  Is the the White Dwarf available as an epub?

it's not an epub persay, I've only seen pictures

No, in fact I'm a little disappointed that Underworlds is where to much of GW's model making "energy" seems to be going. They could at least have the decency to use the in a skirmish game instead of a board game.

can't you use them in the skirmish mode anyway?  they have tabletop stats.

my only gripe with AOS skirmish is the updated rules are in a White Dwarf I can't find for a reasonable price, and no idea if they updated their ePub rules to be in line with that mag

Disappointed that it's another Ironjawz Warband. Seems strange to double up when Bonesplitters lack one?

I know there's three Stormcast Warbands, but they're the poster boys so that's to be anticipated.

mostly disappointed they didn't show this and DOK at the same time :/ we knew more IJ were coming, this time as brutes
