  1. Here's some "fun" speculation - predict the dual kits! Or just wish-list. I'm really hoping that Dawnriders have an archer variant. Also hoping that the Stoneguard have a Swordmaster variant with big plumes and whopping great sun-swords. Not so outlandish when you consider who many dual-kits the brand new AOS factions contain, and the only one confirmed for the Lumineth so far is the battle cattle.
  2. Thanks for those responses guys, much appreciated. I was hoping to stay competitive but fluffy, so I've now got the following list: Leaders: Alarielle (600) Nomad Prince (general, 120) - I'd give him the Wardroth Horn to make the Treelord/Kurnoths/Alarielle very scary for one turn. Plus Druid command trait so he can cast Ironoak Skin on the Eternal Guard. Assassin (80) Battleline: 30 Eternal Guard (330) - also the general's retinue 20 Wildwood Rangers (260) - possibly fielding 2 units of 10 10 Wild Riders (260) - possibly fielding 2 units of 5 10 Sisters of the Watch (160) Other: Treelord (180) Total: 1990 points My plan would be to start with Alarielle on the table, then deep strike the Rangers and possibly the Riders depending on table size/opponent etc. The Eternal Guard and the Treelord form an anvil, with the Nomad Prince behind for CA's and bodyguard. Alarielle and her summoned Kurnoth's terrify one side of the board while the anvil denies the other side, my hammers come in from deep strike and the Sisters soften up any behemoths. I know the synergies aren't the best (no way to use the Living City CA) but it still seems fairly robust. Feel free to tear it to shreds!!
  3. Hey guys, Just indulging in a thought experiment, but is the following list something that has been done already, is it viable/competitive? I'm just really missing Wood Elves. Living City using Eternal Guard anvils, Sisters of the Watch for sniping, shadow warriors maybe for Waywatcher nostalgia, plus some Wild Riders to summon in with the Allegiance ability. Alarielle as the general, a Nomad Prince adjutant, and possibly a Treelord for more nostalgia. Then have Alarielle drop her free summon of Kurnoths. To me, it seems like a versatile list, but I'd be interested in some opinion/experience of the theme. Thanks
  4. Well that is in my brain now. Re: The Stoneguard, I wonder if their stances will have similar rules to the OBR big dudes (not a fan, don't know the name) And I would imagine they'll be accompanied by the errr.. Stonemage, for buffs etc.
  5. Totally agree with this. It's making me think that I might split the difference here. Why not take the beautiful core units, tweak them, and add them to a Cities of Sigmar list? Nobody can accuse that faction of being anaemic. Then leave the cows and Teclis to the Lumineth loyalists, and enjoy your new aelf-themed city.
  6. I think this is a good idea but I don't think it is GW's idea. Look at those awesome DoK mini's released yesterday. If they were a new unit or just 3 new heroes for DoK, it would spark a wave of new interest in the army. Now DoK is awesome, but its still a relatively small, AoS sized range of models that borrows from WFB for its main battleline unit. It still looks awesome on the tabletop and the rules hold up quite well given their age. If GW started to release supplements for existing armies, they would be able to re-sell awesome products that they have already without constantly revamping the entire army. The only example of a major second wave of models has been the Stormcast, and they seem to be the exception as they are the poster-boys. There are plenty of AoS armies that haven't been touched at all since release. In conclusion, supplemental updates would be a fantastic idea as you suggest, but that is not what GW is doing at the minute. I'd love them to do it, or just to beef up the Warcry and Shadespire warscrolls so it was easier to take them in competitive play.
  7. Yeah they can't exactly keep producing new stuff until the current stuff is released, so they either stop communicating totally for a while or they drag out what they did have in tiny, torturous amounts. If I knew in January that I wouldn't have even seen the whole range by May I would have just picked up another army by now. I'm just trying to be all zen about it and think of how much I'll appreciate the Lumineth once I finally get them.
  8. I know how you feel, I think we should hold out hope for a few more weeks though. Warhammer Fest was supposed to be in two weeks time. Lockdown won't be lifted by then for the GW factory. Perfect time to show more releases and keep the hype train rolling.
  9. Unless it is hanging off one of those beautiful new Gargants
  10. This is not a whine, disclaimer! Assuming that what we have seen comprises the entire faction, that means your general has to be a named character, or one of the two mages. This is going to limit their artefacts, command traits etc. Also, if they have mentioned 4 sub-cultures but we only have access to the Alarith Mountain people, will the battletome be able to have sub-allegiances? It seems pedantic to have a range of armies who all use the same named heroes and who all hail from the Mountain clan. Now, this might mean that the Lumineth battletome will be a break from the pattern we've seen in AoS 2.0 or it might mean that they are keeping back a few more kits to compensate for the extra-long unexcepted wait. Which one is more likely, or is there a third possibility?
  11. It looks like this might be everything after all. The interviewer did ask if there was any more to the range and the other guy dodged the question and said "I think people just want them to be out now." So unless he's making a Casino-Royale-sized bluff or we've now seen the entire Lumineth range, whatever you think of it. Also, a few of those Rumour Engines we were hanging our hopes on look to have been the DoK Warcry band, or did I miss one?
  12. The sad thing is that you're probably right. The saddest thing is, for all I'll rage and complain, I'll still behave exactly as they expect and buy the lot whenever it comes out.
  13. I am still excited for the army release, I'm just being greedy for MOAR MODELZZZ I've tested a colour scheme out now - I've pinched the bronze and purple palette from the Sisters of Silence on the GW site and I'm going for a darker feel to the Light Elves Something something starlight, eclipse, something something.... I was considering gambling on Cities of Sigmar allies and painting up some Shadow Warriors - they are always useful, whoever your army is. I think I'm also going to knock up some terrain features to match my army while I wait. In the meantime, I would much prefer to see all of the models, then be drip-fed warscrolls and rules for the next who-knows-how-many months.
  14. I'm too scared to hope... Scenario A: They show us the veiled lady, possible generic hero and that will be the entire range. Scenario B: They dump a load more models in our lap including generic hero, Tyrion, second elemental sub-culture elite etc. Scenario C: They show us Endless Spells and Terrain Piece I still have my fingers crossed for Scenario B since they have done an awful lot of teasing for what may end up being one of the smallest factions in AOS. However, I think that if they know the lockdown means we don't actually get to buy the models until end of May/early June or even later, they may drip-feed tiny reveals every week until then, in which case I will lose my mind and be submitted to a psychiatric institute.
  15. I'm glad it's not just me! I can't see them not releasing a generic hero or two purely because if there were no generic heroes then there would be no artefacts or command traits, which I can't see happening. I'm absolutely itching to get my hands on some of these models now.
  16. If this is all that comes out, I am fine with it as a range. Anything else is going to be a bonus for me. But all this teasing from GW is killing me. On the one hand, they seem to be saving something up for a last big reveal. On the other hand we've seen the battletome artwork, the photos inside the battletome. the concept art, the studio shots etc. and no hint of any additional models in there. I alternate between "that's it, man, get over it" and "ZENITH EAGLE RIDERS TYRION YAAAAAS" every 10 minutes.
  17. I'm looking at using a similar palette to this beautiful scheme that I stole from a great hobbyist called Monstroys on Tumblr. GW White areas = the blue GW blue areas = the red Trim etc = the cold gold. I'll do the robes a cream colour but I might try some free-hand patterns on there since there's a lot of space there. Then I'm going to use all the little gemstones for spots of black and yellow. Should be very striking, and pushes me towards river or Sky when they eventually show up. Ambitious possibly, but I love the painting side of the hobby as opposed to the gaming side where I lose every game I show up to. Also, on the shutting down of criticism, I think any art form or even any product has its fans and its critics. I think the big problem the Lumineth have is that they were tackling a much-loved Warhammer faction, and they teed it up as "pointy aelves" to make everyone think "Ooo, High Elves 2.0!" then they took a brave decision to give them the AOS treatment. As a result, a lot of people are reacting like me, with "Oh... I wasn't expecting that" which is why we're seeing such strong reactions. Personally, I was confused when I saw Teclis at first, but I now can't wait to paint Celennar, she reminds me of the sphinx from the Neverending Story... It might be fun to snip Teclis free of Celennar and house him in the swirly goodness that the Celestant Prime has around him - I mean, it's got hammers in it and that's so aelven...
  18. I literally can't handle another 2 week wait only for them to reveal nothing. I'm not looking any more. I think I'm going to just paint landscapes.
  19. I'm actually so hacked off right now. Look at the way their media team have strung us along... First they mention "Tyrion" a dozen times - but he's not a release. Then they show us a literal drawing of a Swordmaster - but those aren't released. Then they talk about four elemental cultures at every opportunity - but three of them aren't released. Then they do the "low-downs" which are essentially the dev team backslapping about how awesome their models are. Then they reveal.... a fantastically well-designed yet highly controversial set of bull-themed mini's which cannot help but be jarring to the eyes of older hobbyists. Then they do a "low-down" which literally just talks about the scenery on the bases. Then they do an online preview which announces... dice and markers. Are you for real? I'm self-isolating here, I've had nothing to do all week but wonder what today would preview. And it previewed dice... I don't even like yellow dice! I don't follow this hobby for the dice, or the measuring sticks or the cardboard counters. I collect MINIATURES. When I saw the spearmen and the Dawnriders, I was instantly sold. There's a set of units that will be fun to paint, look awesome on the tabletop and are going to be an elite, tactical force to play as. But then to torment me since January to this point... you've killed the anticipation. You've built it up to ridiculous levels until the only thing any rational person can feel now is disappointment. I can only imagine how incandescent the Destruction collectors must be when they've been waiting for Sons of Behemat since Christmas only to find out that... there's a new battletome incoming. WE KNEW THAT! WE KNEW THAT!
  20. Even if they revealed that the Dawnriders is a dual-kit with reavers that would be enough for me. I actually think this is all we're getting. I don't think I'm going to get the boxed set, because even if they go on to release the other elements, those warscrolls won't be in the new battletome, so what is the point in paying double for a limited edition?
  21. I think I'll lean heavily into the battleline as well, love the look of the more classic feeling units.
  22. Oh dear, no new models? Set all other things aside: If it turns out that the "tiny peak" turned out to be "the entire release" then I'm displeased. Still buying this army, but displeased at the over-hype. If there are new models (veiled lady doesn't count) revealed today I will happily eat my oversized bull-horned hat.
  23. Hi Koradrel, This is funny because I was actually really interested to hear your opinion on that reveal after all of the input you have had on this thread. Care to expand? I never really post on here but that reveal drew me out of hiding in sheer confusion.
  24. I'm excited yet apprehensive - I think if Saturday reveals some Endless Spells and Veil Lady there's going to be a backlash from people who've been teased since January. I don't mind GW wanting to stagger the release or set up a "chambers" style system for Lumineth, but if so they will have over-promised too much in the teasers and it will detract from what is actually a cool new faction.
