  1. The Battalion requirements are the same as before. The Eurlbad and Jorlbad represent the two fists of the BCR (Eating and Fighting hands, respectively), and have always mirrored each other. The Torrbad is odd and useless. Do not use in anything 2k or below.
  2. @Sleboda Fine. One game. Sure. I guess I can't judge them based on that. Also to be fair, can't say that the entire army is overpowered, I should have just stated that I though the Petrifex were overpowered. Perhaps I was raging. However, we were playing with objectives (Battle for the Pass). @Gecktron Do you know what his list was? I would much appreciate it if you could get it.' Okay, perhaps I may have been wrong.... But is that really necessary? To beat the Petrifex, I think mortal wounds are needed. For example, Khorne would have a lot less difficulty fighting them.
  3. To everyone who is telling people who are complaining about OBR to stop complaining: HAVE YOU FOUGHT THEM YET?!?!?!? I recently had my first match against the Petrifex Elite, playing as my Mawtribes. I put all the rend that I could into the list, and it did nothing. The only kills I got was to one of his Mortek units (after 4 turns against 1 unit of 10), 2 Immortis Guard ( who I only killed with some lucky MW's), and his Leige Kavalos, who died because he made a poor tactical decision and ran straight into me. The only weakness I can see is against mortals, as you will be doing little-to-no normal wounds because of 2+ and 3+ saves. Their damage output is fantastic, bravery isnt an issue, magic is good, shooting is present... the list goes on. It was not a fun game. I have no difficulty saying that as they are right now, they are broken.

  6. Note to everyone when running a Stonehorn with all other units being Gutbusters: BE CAREFUL. Charging them into a big monster fully buffed on your first turn will eliminate the target, but will be either shot to pieces or stuck up against a huge unit of chaff. A small contingent of BCR isn't necessarily bad, but will be a massive target.
  7. I recently fought Petrifex Elite at 100 points with my Mawtribes. I don't think either of our lists were great, plus it was the Ossiarch's first time playing them, but he won handily. The Petrifex are impossible to hurt with normal wounds unless you have rend -2 and higher all over the place. However, they quickly collapse against mortal wounds because of their low model count. So if you think you'll be facing Petrifex soon, better bring Khorne!
  8. I recently had a very frustrating loss against Shootcast. He used Ballistas to really annoy me, but I was winning for most of the game. However, at the end he used a command ability that allowed him to bring back a unit of 10 liberators once they died anywhere on the board on a 5+. He got this off twice, resulting in my loss of 23-25. If the command ability had gone off only once, I might have had a chance. The units all performed very well, including a unit of 12 buffed Gluttons one-shotting his unit of 10. I learned that the Tyrant is difficult to use on his own, as he is much less dangerous now. Ironguts kicked ass, including a unit of 4 killing a unit of 10 Vanguard-Hunters. Slaughtermaster is ultimately far better than the Butcher unless you plan on using them for melee (which I would not recommend because of their 5+ save). I think I will take out the Gutguard (IT IS GARBAGE, DO NOT USE!) and my SHBR and replace it with another unit of 12 Gluttons. After that, I got some Boulderhead lists to try out!
  9. I had a Blood-feasted Slaughtermaster cauldron-buffed unit of 12 Gluttons attack a unit of 10 liberators. 49 dice 2+ to hit (6's inflicting 2 hits) 3+ to wound (re-rolling all fails cuz Bloodgullet command ability) no rend (sadface) 2 damage apiece. Needless to say, the liberators died.
  10. I would go with Gnoblars. They will be a pain in the ****** and provide lots of dice against him, which will be necessary.
  11. You need a unit of 12, sadly. However, you're not going to take Ogors in a unit smaller than 12 though right? 😉
  12. I have a question about something that I simply do not understand, specifically your 3rd sentence (as I've seen this before). "The Butcher model though, has got to be the ugliest model I have ever seen and almost turned me off to buy the army altogether." I mean no offense @Jabbuk, but an ugly model turning off from buying an army? C'mon now. I can get disliking a model, even HATING it, but stopping you from starting an army is just silly. If someone could explain to me all the all-out despise at the Butcher (and yhetees, for that), it would be much appreciated.
  13. For now, I would go with Gutbusters, as you already have some and I believe that things work better when you have all BCR or all Gutbusters. However, it ultimately depends on what you like more! Go with what looks cool to you! WHAAAAAT you quit Slaanesh to play Mawtribes????? Okaaaaay..... 1) Can't help you there, I'm not a crafty type. 2)In smaller units, there's not enough guaranteed damage, so you'll want to go with the Ironfists. However, you'll ALWAYS want to go for a unit of 12 with Gluttons, and in that case you'll want to go with the double clubs for max damage potential.
  14. I think all these list ideas, unit opinions, and unit statistics are great and all, but I think you can't say whether or not a list is good unless if you've played it. Lists are nice, but they don't help a lot if you haven't tested them. If you have, tell people! We all want to know how Mawtribes works and how they work against other armies!
  15. So I had a fantastic match recently against Khorne that showed the Strength and weaknesses of a lot of the new stuff we have. We played Battle for the Pass. Here were the lists: Me (Bloodgullet) Tyrant (Splatter-cleaver, Red-stuff, Fateseeker) Butcher (Shrunken Priest Head, Blood Feast, Ribcracker) Slaughtermaster (Wizardflesh Apron, Greasy Deluge, Molten Entrails) Stonehorn Beastrider (Blood Vulture) 4 Ironguts 4Ironguts 12 Gluttons (Double clubs) 4 Leadbelchers Goremand Gutguard He had: Insensate Rage Bloodthirster Insensate Rage Bloodthirster Skarbrand Wrath of Khorne Bloodthirster 10 Reavers 10 Reavers Slaughterpriest Slaughterpriest Khorgorath 5 Flesh Hounds Council of Tyrants I won initiative and let him go first. He just moved his units and scored a point. On my turn, I moved my units up and cast Entrails on the Beastrider. He charged into Skarbrand and instantly killed, then got wounded heavily by a Bloodthirster. Note: Stonehorns are not as durable as they used to be. Use with caution. From there, I had some more nice attacks but gradually started going downhill. My Tyrant died quickly (Gutguard isn't all that great) and my Slaughtermaster was derped by his general, the WoK Bloodthirster. The Leadbelchers eventually took him down (they are quite good) and my Gluttons occupied another Bloodthirster. Irongut unit one beat up his priests, disposing of both, while Irongut unit two beat up his Flesh Puppies to a pulp. However, he summoned back another Bloodthirster, my Belchers fled from battleshock, and my ironguts were wiped out. All I had left was a heavily damaged unit of Gluttons engaged with a buffed Bloodthirster, 10 Reavers, and a Khorgorath. They eventually died. After the Reavers fled from some battleshock, it was just my Butcher versus two extremely wounded Bloodthirsters, one Khorgorath, and 5 Flesh hounds (the hounds and one of the 'Thirsters had been summoned). I was ahead on points, but had to do some math to see if I could win. I figured out that I had to charge my Butcher into combat with one of the Thirsters, win, and survive for my oppponents last turn. The Butcher killed the Bloodthirster with Trampling Charge (which is FANTASTIC) and was then charged by a Khorgorath. The Butcher survived unscathed, and I won 21-19! First Mawtribes VICTORY! My opinion on units: Tyrant: Great command ability, nasty when he gets to attack, will be targeted and killed quickly if he is not properly defended, good for fighting heroes but not chaff Butcher: Awesome, powerful in melee, good wizard Slaughtermaster: Cauldron is very good, especially on 3-4, must place him very close to other units to be good, heals himself lots but must survive an attack (a little squishy) Gluttons: Lots of dice and good on paper, lots of wounds, but swingy attack because no rend and will die quickly even in units of 12 if enough force is concentrated. Leadbelcher: Surprisingly good. Nice in melee, nice shooting. Like 'em. Ironguts: Honestly not a whole lot tougher than gluttons so be careful so that they always attack their target first before they can be attacked as every one lost is huge, massive damage when they attack Beastrider: Honestly, I think I want some more testing first. Huge damage, especially when buffed, but not as durable and good in prolonged combat. Can't quite tell how good they are yet, Goremand: Really good, minimizes drops extremely. APPROVED! Gutguard: Meh. Difficult to use super well, though nice against shooting. Doesn't minimize drops very well. Changes: I think next time I would take out the Gutguard and Beastrider and replace it with a block of 12 more Gluttons. From what I've seen so far, mostly Gutbusters or mostly BCR will work better than all mixed list. I want to try BCR with a bunch of Butchers or Slaughtermasters or an Underguts list, who actually very powerful if you equip the right artefacts and put the right arty's in.
  16. Be careful about heavy investing with OBR. Remember Kharadron? When they first came out, they were broken. Then they were nerfed to infinity and they're garbage.
  17. Sorry, for the doublepost, but yes they do. If they didn't they couldn't gain Artefacts as the Mawtribes Artefacts specify Tyrant or Butcher only.
  18. This would've made the game far easier. They would've died quickly, but they definitely would've provided distraction and damage. Same with a gorger or 2.
  19. So I had a depressing match against Greywater Fastness today using the new Battletome. I knew he was using Cities of Sigmar, and he knew I was using Mawtribes. It was both of our first times using the armies with the new books, though not the first time using the models. He came prepped with a list to take Mawtribes down. I should've prepped accordingly, and so it happened that in Round 5 I was tabled. Our lists were: Me Bloodgullet Tyrant (General, Red Stuff, Splatter-Cleaver) Butcher (Wizard Head, Molten Entrails, Greasy Deluge Slaughtermaster (Apron, Blood Feast, Ribcracker) 12 Ogors 4 Ironguts 4 Ironguts 4 Leadbelchers Stonehorn Beastriders Tyrant's Gutguard Goremand His: Some cheap buff-thing Some cheap buff-thing Some cheap buff-thing Lord-Ordinator 20 Handgunners 20 Handgunners 10 Hangunners 5 Outriders 5 Outriders 5 Outriders Volley Gun Volley Gun Volley Gun Rocket Battery Rocket Battery Artillery Battalion thing (let him take 5 arty's and let him shoot with them 2 times on 1st turn) He killed my Stonehorn, Butcher, Slaughtermaster, and 3 Ogors on turn 1, rendering my army rather useless. The game did not improve from there. The Leadbelchers weren't too bad, though they are definitely a melee unit. The Tyrant is still fantastic. Ironguts do crazy damage, even an minimum size. Ogors are fantastic, though 2 blocks of 12 will serve you much better than 1. The worst part was that my opponent had crappy dice, but it didnt matter because the stupid buff heroes made everything 2+ to hit and 2+ to wound! Had I prepared accordingly, things may have turned out different, but for that way it is, I cannot give a full review of our new warscrolls yet as half of my army was destroyed in 1 shooting phase. Oh well, better luck next time!

  21. I must say that the Slaughtermaster is looking quite powerful. The cauldron is very nice, his spell is great for buffing Gluttons, especially when combined with Meatfist or Bloodgullet, and his Battalion is great for minimizing drops. Speaking of BLoodgullet, it is crazy powerful. I think magic is the way to go for Mawtribes, maybe with a Tyrant, Ironguts, some Gluttons, and a big mammoth or two.
  22. Why all the Tyrant hate? The warscroll got better, the amazing command ability got even better, and you get to choose the Big Name now.   23. Has anyone tested and found success with a Mawtribes list yet?
  24. Part of this army's premise was its reliance on elite units. They don't need a whole lot of screening, especially with their good saves, and they can be returned by the heroes. The Mortek are so good that they make up for the points. Though the no allies prevents cheaper unit, their current ones are so good that that isnt necessary. They have good shooting (Mortek Crawler), good melee (Stalkers), and good magic (any of the heroes). They also have ways to suck up wounds (Harvesters) and big Command Ability Beasts (Katakros). I'm thinking that despite the price, their synergies and powerful warscrolls will be more than enough to compensate for that.
