  1. I am going to house rule it so the "Big Waaagh" and its allegiance abilities can be used with the regular Greenskinz that are lost but not forgotten, since the previews show it affects "Orruks" and not Ironjaws or Bonesplittas in particular.

My brother's Greeskinz army will be happy with that!!

They updated site pictures for round bases.

(And changed Dragon base size just as i finished REbasing. Cmom gw help me out here)

What Dragon did they change the base size for?

I only see the Dreadlord on Black Dragon with the 105mm oval, but that base size was suggested for this miniature in the GW pdf for base sizes last year.

Khorne got 2 heroes (Skulltaker and generic Herald).

I think what he meant was, no new heroes, as these were essentially replacements of resin models, with updated warscrolls.

I am all up for replacing resin with plastic whenever the opportunity arises, ofcourse, but the new Khorne Battletome was also a good opportunity to release a new multipart kit for a might lord of Khorne (who is not Khorgos Khul) or a khorgorath (which is a large monopose static model and really shows when you use multiples of them on the table) that has been talked about for ages.

I saw an picture in the Sylvaneth Battletome that seems to be a fight between Dryads and some Warriors of Chaos. What caught my interest is that the WoC armor design is close to the Varanguard  (baroque patterns, more details, etc...) than old Warriors of Chaos design.
Maybe it's nothing, but it reminds me about War40k Chaos Space Marines update.

The two pictures in the new Sylvaneth Battletome that depict Sylvaneth fighting chaos troops on foot, are actually Chaos Chosen, but i would be very happy to see new sculpts indeed.

  5. All i can say, is that if GW did their Keeper of Secrets like this one, i would be playing Slaanesh right now.

I bought Wrath and Rupture as i was already playing Khorne, and kept the Slaanesh half to expand into a full army once the update would come.

Fast forward to the Slaanesh release with no mortals (Plus they erased the Slaanesh lord on Boobsnake from existence) , and their new Keeper of Secrets, which while an excellent model, doesn't appeal to my likes as far as horrific greater daemons go.  So i am currently sitting on my slaanesh half from the boxset which i do not intend to expand unless i get a Keeper of Secrets that looks like the one in your renders.

In other words, make him happen please xD It looks fantastic!

  6. Untamed beasts, they are the closest to my Norsca barbarians from the world that was.

I already have a few converted marauders with fur and animal skulls on their shoulders, that i had started 1,5 year back and put on hold to see if we actually see anything new with Darkoath, so these will fit my future army.

  7. The troops and unnamed heroes could be used with the points from their original compendiums in the first general's handbook.

The named characters are more tricky as most of them had many changes to their warscrolls and would be different to cost than their original compendium versions.

Still hope that we eventually get some points for them, be it a fan made project or GW .

  8. Just make Forgeworld give me back the Chaos War Mammoth.

Also a proper two-headed Chaos Dragon at the size of the Warpfire Dragon with an option for a Chaos Lord or Chaos Sorcerer rider(Heck they could just use the same plastic body parts from the dark elves black dragon like they do for the Warpfire Dragon kit)

And talking about titanic monsters, make a gigantic Rot Kraken/Ship for Gutrot Spume and his Blghtkings to ride.

  9. When they update the warscrolls with a new battletome they can get around to buffing Chaos Warriors, Knights etc without affecting them in god marked armies.

Simply add a unique ability to each warscroll that is only active if you chose not to mark the unit at the start of the game. Similar to how the Daemon Prince works at set up.

Yeah, I somehow fear it. But a lot of our range is still plastic and should remain untouched.

I am currently in a weird mood about the Darkoath Tome. Chaos was always a main enemy and Slaves/Warriors were an iconic enemy in the World that was. I love the idea of mortals gaining unholy strength and power from dark gods. And the loss of identity that follows up. My biggest fear is that they leave a wide part of the Slaves to Darkness untouched. This would be the worst case scenario: Imagine cool new Darkoath/Everchosen Units and then Chaos Warriors remaining the same trash profile they are right now. The Darkoath/Slaves Tome will be a different thing for gw as they have to buff the faction a lot to get them out of the current miserable position they are in right now. This could lead straightforward to gw keeping it conservative and releasing one of the weakest AoS 2.0 tomes so far.

Worst Case scenario for the Chaos Warriors would likely be if they get the Hellstriders of Slaanesh treatment.

Two different warscrolls that only correspond to the options you get in the box. One warscroll for hand weapon and shield, one for double weapons, but both warscrolls bland and unbuffed.

Resin upgrade packs get axed from GW Store and warscrolls in the trend of decreasing resin from  their catalogue.

I do fear that the complaints for the recent powercreep in some of the battletomes could indeed keep GW from buffing Slaves to Darkness to a respectable degree, unless the battletome is already finished.

Nonetheless, i am very eager to see this update and hope the army gets bolstered with a few new minis like Varanguard and Darkoath.

  11. I would personally love if huge named characters like Archaon had a rule in their warscroll that their printed stats cannot be modified by other power/abilities. That way, as a designer, you could keep the warscroll very powerful on its own without worrying that it could be broken by certain interactions with other rules, and cost it accordingly. No -1 or +1 to attacks and rolls, just a very powerful warscroll that you would take to supplement your army.

Sure, that would make it static and lose the fun of thinking up combos with certain miniatures and armies, but would also be more lore friendly for such huge demigod-level characters. Why would Archaon get whipped by a bloodstoker to fight harder, or be affected by the stench of mere fellwater troggoths?

Ofcourse, that concept sounds ideal in my head but could be flawed as well, as most things warhammer xD

problem is he is still high priced as 160 points, just compare him with other 160 points units. A rerolling 1s totem equal to points of a demon prince makes no sense. and ridiculously, dismount version and mounted version both cost 160 points- so mounted version totally out perform on foot one, but GW only sell on foot version and almost every player conversion it.

    It will get even better..

When GW gets around to releasing a battletome for Slaves to Darkness, they will delete  every warscroll that doesn't correspond to a miniature they still sell.

So the Chaos Sorcerer Lord will lose the mount option when the update comes, like the Necromancer did in the Legions of Nagash book, and everyone who converted their model on horse is going to own another model that will be invalid for matched play games.

  13. I really want to run any of the Maggoth Lords, or a Tamurkhan's Horde without severely handicapping myself, but after today's preview i think i will have to agree with @Oldshrimpeyes

The only points drops they mentioned are for one of the most recent plastic Nurgle kits.

Go look at the warscrolls and points for the Maggoth Lords and anything in Tamurkhan's Horde like Plague Ogors or Bile Troggoths, it is disheartening to see that approach.

Sweet! Enjoy putting them together, they’re my favorite kit to assemble and paint!

Also guys, I’ve got a balrog I want to convert into a Daemon Prince, but I heard from some players that we can’t bring Lord of the Rings stuff into Warhammer games, especially tournaments, what are your thoughts on the matter? In friendlies, it’s perfectly fine, but not too sure about tournaments.

And for Skullcrushers, if 6 dude units are so expensive, what do you guys think about using 3 dude units instead, as kind of an expensive roadblock? Maybe dump Bronzed flesh on them and tie up a big clanrats blob or something (in my case my crushers took forever to die and managed some surprising casualties against the rats)

The general thought process that Lord of the Rings miniatures should not be used in Warhammer is because of the scale difference, Lord of the rings Humanoid miniatures being noticeably smaller than their warhammer equivalents.

You wouldn't have this issue with the Balrog as it is actually bigger than the Daemon Prince but uses the same 60mm base so you are good to go.

I have seen some Balrog Daemon Prince conversions and even a few Bloodthirster ones and they were a great sight.

  15. I think will wait a few weeks for the dust to settle, and if there are indeed no new Slaanesh mortals on the horizon i will probably trade my Slaanesh half from Wrath and Rapture for another Khorne half.

I personally don't like the head options for the Keeper of secrets, would have loved at least one more monstrous/demonic.

When it comes to the chaos gods, mortals armies always are a preference to me as they look better and you can individualize them to not look like a clone army.

So if there were  new mortals i would have to buy them and a few extra demons for summoning.

I guess my wallet might take a break for the time being, which is certainly most welcome. xD

I was reading over the warscrolls for the 2 Darkoath heros (queen and conan dude) and reading the warscrolls for the Shadespire warband and i see no indication that Darkoath units will be able to take marks like the rest of StD can. Most StD have a bonus right on the warscroll... Has anyone else thought this might be the case? I could see them being their own sub faction that doea not operate the way rest of army does.

Maybe they don't want to worry about any new Darkoath units to be abusable in Mono-God armies. Perhaps a future Battletome includes an Allegiance ability that allows them to pick marks at set-up in their own army.

Really looking forward to see what is in store for Slaves to Darkness/Everchosen/Darkoath in general!

  17. All the news are interesting.

The lack of Slaanesh mortals in the video disappoints me though, as i find the mortal followers of each Chaos god much more interesting than the demons.

The new Keeper of secrets looks majestic but a third more demonic looking head option would be very welcomed. Those two faces previewed  look very bovine to me and would have loved one throwback to the classic demonic look.

  18. R.I.P to all those who have build their blood warrior chaos champions with goreglaives and now need to tear them apart and give the goreglaive to a different blood warrior. I don't think i will be using plastic glue in the future 😓

I am fine with changes to warscrolls like skullreapers, they did it in a way that you don't really care what weapon options you have built them with as they faction the same. But the way they handled blood warriors is very unfriendly to those who want to keep their miniatures wysiwyg . The goreglaive was not a weapon that could be spammed like with some warscrolls for other armies that were changed in the past, so this really came out of the blue.

The Lord of Khorne on Juggernaut nerf was also unnecessary.

  19. I don't see Forge World rereleasing the War Mammoth any time soon if ever.

It would be wonderful if GW would release a plastic mammoth for Darkoath.  Scale it down to fit on a 170mm oval base like the Stardrake and give it a unique spin to make it more IP friendly since they don't like to release generic stuff these days. Add darkoath icons and crew, name it Darkoath Warbeast or something.

That and a Chaos dragon with an option to use it on its own or mounted by an Everchosen warlord or sorcerer.

  20. The wings on the miniature cover the area between the elbow and fingers and in the artwork above we can't see his arms from the elbows and beyond so it could be possible it is him.

I would love for it to be art for a different upcoming miniature but i am just trying not to get too hyped that is 😅
