Saw this on facebook, bummed me out real bad. Literally all they need to do keep the line alive is release a new weapon set or head set, or even a new model.

And As I’ve heard before, Tamurkhan, the plague ogres, fimir, trolls and even the merwyrm could have all been repurposed as a new Swamp type force for Chaos with various allegiances. But instead of characterful models  and detailed monster for fantasy we get - BC375DFF-B9E6-412F-B434-38E7E3BB84F5.jpeg.0dc6e2ea710d8f48fb9e2f504c9b92a6.jpeg

Uri V here doesn’t hold a candle to Drazhoath.

Agreed, i bought my Tamurkhan, bile troggoths, ogors and plague toads a couple of years ago and by the time i started painting them they discontinued the line. By the time i manage to get them up for a game, their warscrolls will all be in an unsupported Legacy pdf without the Nurgle keyword.

But someone at the design team though "Hey, let's make a miniature of Manu Bennett in ultramarine armor"

  2. It is 32 mm on the faq, but the miniature in the updated AoS packaging comes with a 40mm base.

I would say 40mm is the correct one, as the bases faq has been wrong before (It did have the harbinger of Decay on 60mm round base while he comes with an oval and they updated it later, after community feedback) , and still lists the miniature with the old warhammer name Lord of Chaos, instead of Chaos Lord.

Generally, i would suggest referring to the Base Sizes FAQ for miniatures that are packaged  with only old rectangular bases, and use the bases the miniatures are supplied with when it comes to those packaged with round or oval bases.

  3. In my humble opinion if an Age of Sigmar miniature comes with a round or oval base in the package, that is the official base for it. If the Chaos Lord comes with a 40mm base then that is the correct one.

I wouldn't completely trust the GW Base Chart pdf as they had incorrectly listed bases for other miniatures and later corrected some of them. For example, the Harbinger of Decay was listed to use a 60mm round base in the pdf and after players contacted Games Workshop that he comes with an oval base in the blister, they updated him in the base chart later later to a 75 x 42mm.

It could be the same case with the Chaos Lord, but nobody contacted GW to update it.

They even list him with the old warhammer name "Lord of Chaos" in the pdf, while in the webstore, book and warscroll his is named "Chaos Lord"

  4. When it comes to disappointing transition of lore/model to warscroll rules, i would consider all mortal Slaves to Darkness units except Marauders and Sorcerer Lords. Especially Chaos Lords (Manticore Lord takes the lead), Warriors and Knights. They play nothing like their intimidating models or their written lore.

Also almost all mortal Khorne for the same reason, especially their on foot melee heroes, bloodreavers and bloodwarriors.

As a standalone unit, the jabberslythe would have my first vote, as mentioned before in the thread.

  5. Lord of the Rings (Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game as is called nowadays). It has many designs that i like to list only one but some where mentioned by other members already.

There is better balance with the random priority roll, and the combat mechanics in combination with the wound chart are brilliant.

Also, Heroes (even on foot) feel like actual heroes with the Might/Will/Fate mechanic and can often lead the charge of their warbands, while in AoS you have to hide them behind to save them from getting sniped turn one.

  6. I see the supply drop boxes already sold out in GW EU.

I was tempted to buy one for Underworlds but then i remembered that the 50% off is for the standard Games Workshop retail prices.

I bought most of my Underwords products from retailers at 20% so the 50% off Games Workshop prices for random products doesn't sound very appealing.

It will be interesting to see what these boxes come supplied with though :)

  7. Nice, i understand the lack of motivation. I had extra hobby time lately but haven't managed to paint anything as i don't feel like it.

Good to see Beasts getting some love, especially old classics like the pumbagore!

    1) 25 mm ungors should be hording on and better at holding the objective than larger base units.  that's part of the mechanic of the game.

    3) so make that unique.  Otherwise it's slowly brought back in fully.  A ghorgon shouldn't hold an objective.  Troops should hold ground.

    4) The game doesn't really benefit of Hordes, horde units get a benefit to be beneficial.

I just disagree with the points.  I'm not meaning to attack you, sorry if it feels that way.  Just FYI.  :)

I think the problem with most monsters, like a Ghorgon, is not that they can't hold an objective, but that they can't clear horde units (or chaff) either to make way for your troops to go for the objective.

So most (non-hero) monsters are not good for either role other than be cool looking pieces on the table.

Well you also have Archeon and the FW Khornelord on Dragon:)

I have Archaon but he is a named character and one of a kind. I was thinking along the lines of generic lords riding chaos dragons similar to the Zombie Dragon or Dark Elf Dragon , in a points range between 300-400 to offer more flexibility with list building and allow for model customization.

Speaking of the Chaos Manticore Lord, anyone has ideas of a way to make him a little more playable now that the Karkadrak Lord does his job for less points?

I took the colors of the frigatte and the base writting of the of Astreia. Any graphic design software  can do the trick.

It's not as fast as @RuneBrush warscroll builder site or the oficial PDF, but it's the first step of a personal project: give a "functional" warscroll to all Old World characters.

Btw, two more erratas in Azhag's Warscroll: the third ability should be Slagga's Slashas instead of another The Crown of Sorcery and the Poisonous Bite is from the companion's Jaws and not companion's  Maw.

Nice! Did you update the original picture in the previous page?  It still shows the pre-errata warscroll for me.

To some people yes. For me Tzeentch has always been about scheming cultists, powerful  mages and scholars who sold their soul for knowledge and power. My favorite models back in WFB (lore not point vise) were Daemon princes, the powerful chaos lords (especially the dragon riding ones - Egrimm Von Horstman is probably one of my favorite character of all time) and the spawn (the constant danger of to much gifts).

But that is fluff and taste and fluff is subjective - saying that a model does not play in accordance with fluff is like saying “I don’t like carrots” - we could argue if a carrot is good for you or not, but if you like it or not is really only up to you.

For what it’s worth - the majority of all fluff (regarding chaos) from WFB was about huge armies of marauders invading from the north led by mighty chaos champions. Fluff vise the army has always been a Horde (or a secret sect if within the boarders of the empire) and not a small elite force. Going over to AoS - a chaos warrior is really not that special any longer. In WFB they used to be elite troops - now they are killed by Stormcasts without breaking a sweat.

It would be fantastic if we could get a new Chaos Lord on Dragon down the line! At the moment the largest monster rider we have is the manticore lord who doesn't hold up well for his warscroll and points.  It was surprising that he didn't drop some points in the FAQ update.

New dude from my series of "Celebrity Deathmatch" from The Old World (based on 8th editon rules).
Again, he is not "named character" to allow traits and artifacts. Give him the Mystic Waaagh! Paint (Bonesplitterz Artifact) for fluffy reasons!!

(400 points btw) Hope you like it!!

Nice work. Some typos i caught, in case you want to update the warscroll. The Spell "Caress of Laniph" refers to Dwarves in its flavor text.

The flavor text for "Poisonous Bite" starts with "Wyverns is good" which i thought was intended for Orc speech but the second sentence has correct grammar "The're also good".

    Cheers!

  13. The Slaves to Darkness battalion "Godsworn Champions of Ruin"  has the ability "In your hero phase, you can pick 1 HERO from this battalion that is within 3" of an enemy unit. If you do so, that HERO can fight."

Can that Hero fight once again, later in the combat phase?

The core rules state that a unit cannot attack more than once during the same Combat Phase but the battalion allows the selected hero to attack during the Hero Phase.

    rip.

Im realy tired that how the army design was thats sce are durable. And now 4+ sv means ******. Stormcast are made of wet nuddle and hit like wet nuddle.

I sympathize, this is the same feeling i have for my Chaos Warriors, Chaos Chosen and Chaos Knights and their battletome was released half a year ago, which likely means i will have to wait at least 3 years for a chance that they might get better.  These units haven't been good since warhammer fantasy :/

Hopefully the stormcasts from the first release (Liberators, Retributors etc) get some love.

New sculpts for Gors, Bestigors and Ungors would be nice, to bring them in line with the quality of the beastgrave models.

I think these three plastic kits hold up really well for their age. They are multipart kits, with extra bits/weapons/heads and respectable detail.

They were designed for fantasy so the poses are not as dynamic as todays armies, but they are all horde units and i think they work better this way.

What i think Beasts of Chaos would really need are:

New named characters. The only one we have is from the warband in Beastgrave.

A big centrepiece model. It could be a huge chaotic creature, or Morghur himself.

Remake of old resin/metal units. Chariots, Razorgors and Centigors come to mind.

This could be done in one boxed kit, like the current Slaves to Darkness Chaos Chariot. it could be a chariot that you can build with two tuskgors or one razorgor (like the two horses and gorebeast from chaos chariot). There would be an option to build the Chariot with a Beastlord hero instead (Two heads for the Beastlord with one of them being for a named character). If you built it with tuskgors you can use the spare Razorgor as a unit himself.

Essentially we would get options for up to 8 different warscroll units from one box. (Tuskgor Chariot, Razorgor Chariot, Beastlord on tuskgor chariot, Beastlord on razorgor chariot, Razorgor,  Beastlord on foot, named beastlord on chariot, named Beastlord on foot). I know i would buy several sets to have a variety of the different units in my collection.

    How much is rent?

I am lucky to live in my own house at the moment, otherwise i doubt i would even think of touching a warhammer miniature with these prices.

One could find a small studio apartment at an old building in a non-commercial area for around 200 euros but the rent prices jump to above 500 euros when you get to better areas. And that's without electricity/water bills.

I don't know what GW pays its retail staff, but looking at minimum wages as a benchmark is quite illuminating.

So looking at the UK Minimum Wage, it's currently GBP 8.21 per hour for adults.

That's 6.7 hours of minimum wage work to cover the sticker price of a Start Collecting BCR.

In Australia, the level 1 retail award is $21.41 (more at weekends, more at higher levels).

That's 7.0 hours of minimum wage work to cover the sticker price of a Start Collecting BCR.

When you look at it like that, the pricing seems pretty well-adapted to local conditions.  Not everyone earns minimum wage, and GW may well pay above that, but I think it gives a good feel for the wages that selling prices need to cover for local warehousing and retail staff, what your average person can actually afford, and so on.

Given that there are real extra costs to cover (e.g. freight + import tariff) I don't actually think the pricing structure looks that far out of whack?

Indeed, looking at minimum wages, there are countries in Europe who have it way worse than Australia if you compare how many work hours are needed to buy a Start Collecting.

I am in Greece and minimum wage is 3,90 euros per hour. (549 euros per month, net earnings)

If i want to buy one of the cheaper Start Collecting sets, which costs 70 euros here, i have to work 18 hours for it.
