Tinfoil hat moment : DB6 was initialy scheduled for preorder next week, but following the passing of Bernard Hill last sunday, I (and GW it seems) felt like a little MESBG commemoration was in order. Hence why they're doing the MTO with Rohan/Helm's Deep minis with 3 versions of Théoden. So that hobbyists can grab old metal minis of the King.

I'm not mad at GW for DB6 being delayed yet again. They did the right thing. I'll just say, forth Eorlingas, and let the horn of Helm Hammerhand sound in the Deep one last time... "For he was a gentle and a great king and kept his oaths; and he rose out of the shadows to a last fair morning."

No tinfoil needed GW warehouses are shut from the 27th May until the 3rd June for their stock take.

With today's announcement their will be no new releases to get out on the 25th.

A quiet week always happens when there is a warehouse stocktake.

    Scanned miniatures from WHFB.

Really not a fan of straight up copying existing models. 3d printing is a great resource but stealing and directly copying another person's designs just doesn't sit right with me.

  3. Would be really nice for 4th Ed for armies that aren't getting a sizable wave to have a single kit rather than another foot hero.

Temple guard, grave guard, dryads all could do with a glow up as could the 4 demon foot troops arguably.

Wow. I had no clue. I think the eBay prices don't help us at all. It gives GW enough room for us to think it is a sweet price but also for them to get a huge margin on their minis.

I was expecting £50 bases on the wyrven they now sell.

The giant was £25-£30 30+ years ago and while of course I'll rather pay 1990"s prices, I don't think £50 is to absurd.

Same! Prices where actually better than expected so also got both 😁

Something I've been planning to do for a while is collect and paint the 4th edition box set but with actual models instead of cardboard cut outs so the war wyrven was a must!

20240429_075258.jpg.62d7d473ed5b10d67c14518877b8cbe8.jpgRicki is a great example of what's possible. He got permission to run this army as Ogor Mawtribes at a Warhammer world event.

It rather gives the lie to the idea that GW doesn't like proxies or kitbashes at their events.  It's really just 3d prints they don't like and even then a 3d printed helmet or weapon is usually fine.

I've been to many events at Warhammer World over the years and seen many heavily converted and proxied armies and they've never had an issue with them, many in fact get nominated for the best army award.

GW has always encouraged creativity, all they ask is you check with them before hand if you're unsure about something and you use their models and parts, which is fair enough if you're going to their event.

He'll get a 3rd edition warscroll, as he'll be released next month. GW has no history of updating legends warscrolls.

Because of changes to bravery and other mechanics, all 3rd edition legends warscrolls will automatically become invalid at the turn of the edition. Therefore Grombrindal will automatically become invalid at 4th edition.

I think what you're getting confused about is that bonesplitterz, beasts etc are getting indexes. These won't be legends rules. They're matched play rules that will be valid until summer 2025, when they'll go to legends.

Also worth noting that the digital Battletomes for beasts, BS and wizardcasts will get rule and point balences thoughtout all of 4th edition.

They are going to legends in summer 2025 which only means they aren't supported at GW official events.

Is this 100% confirmed to be the new ones? If so I might have to grab a copy of I can add they are lovely minis.

Yes, pic in the back of Issue 58 show a preview and it's the new ard Boyz

Released July 17th in the UK. Forbidden planet has up to Issue 72 on preorder now so it's just about checking to see when they put 73 on pre order.

Wasn't there a thing where we can fill ranks with a couple bases worth of decorative stuff and it's alright rules-wise or something?  That would help round out the scenic vistas of foetid swampyness for my River Trolls.

Unit fillers are what you're talking about. They are great for filling out some ranks and adding some visual intrest to a unit. Take a look at my goblin army at the start of this thread or my painting blog to see what I did.

A year in tournaments, you would be able to play with them the whole edition, very likely. It is not like rules are going to change drastically in the middle of an edition.

Yep, the only thing changing in summer 2025 is beasts, bonesplitters and wizardcast won't be supported for GW official events and go into legend but they stated that all will receive rule and balance update through the entire edition.

My thoughts on it is, there were 3 factions in dire need of a make over.

Skaven as we know are coming very soon which leaves beasts and ogors.

Of the 2 remaining factions, I see beasts as most in need of a complete rework and with them being in TOW there is a opportunity to give them a digital battletome for this edition which gives time to do a complete redo of the range and solidify them into AoS without any warhammer hold overs.

I think we'll see ogors long before beasts reappear and I wouldn't be surprised to see a 2nd wave of kruleboyz which will fill the savage monster killer slot left by bonesplitters.

As much amazing hobby goes into AOS stuff, I think because of the different basing with trays and 'fillers' we will see even more amazing amounts of hobby go into TOW.  I know I have much more elaborate plans for my Chaos Dwarfs and Troll Horde.

Completely agree, it's made me think more about how I want the whole army to look and about what models to use.

And as much as I love AoS and round bases, there is just something so satisfying about having a fulled ranked up unit painted and based.
