  1. While I love several of the new kits and am a huge fan of the new SCE kits, I voted for SBGL because it was really an army you could discuss about with everyone in the community. It brought back some good old WHFB Vampire Counts feel while also contributed to expanding unique AoS Designs with Vyrkos. It was a nice update to the Legions of Nagash and also ended symbolically with BR:Teclis the Narrative of Nagashs uprise in the second edition. Having an faction update bound to the ongoing story just feels good. Therefore it was the most wholesome release of the year in my opinion.

  2. I have to admit that the current position of Vanquishers and Vigilors bugs me.

Vanquishers are simply outperformed by Vindictors. Offensively Vindictors bring MW which are needed in current meta, while Vanquishers perform good at blending all that hordes that see little to no play. Defensively Vanquishers seem like a nice unit for an anvil due to rally on 5+, but this is simply outperformed by the 3+ save of the Vindictors, who can receive all other regeneration-buffs that you could apply on Vanquishers. The only option for them to see more play is either a shift to a heavy horde focused meta or a nerf to Vindictors (which propably would rather cement Liberators even more as go to due to their ok defense and solid output at a low price point...damn, thoose Vanquishers are doomed.)

Vindictors seem like a really really solid Warscroll, but not worth the 195 pts. While they offer a good buff and a solid meele/ranged power, All out Attack is a more flexible substitute to their +1-to-hit-buff. Also in the current editions context 2x 3+/3+ -1 1 is not a ranged profile worth that 195 pts simply because of save stacking with AOD/BestDayEver/Mystic Shield. I think they would be more than reasonable at 165pts, 175 if save stacking would not be a thing.

  3. Do we know how much Longstrikes will increase in costs? I have two boxes in sprues I wanted to play in a ranger-themed army and I am a bit afraid that GW overdo it with the nerf once again :/ Also, do you think point drops for Vigilors may happen?

Edit: Also, what is the opinion on Xandires Truthseekers? I mean 3 Heroes with 5 Wounds and a 3+ save and D2 profiles look really solid, even if they are 265 pts

Has there been any indication of how much the Middle Earth Amon Hen terrain piece will cost? I have a bunch of worried looking hobbit minis who should probably be scurrying round it in a display case

I am afraid as it was not listed in the Order list for Vendors, it will be a FW release and therefore quite costly.

  6. No wonder this list performed well, it has like all our best units in:

    • 4 Fulminators will do serious Damage to anything in the game, beeing Hunters protects them while going for the opponents big stuff
    • 6 Longstrikes allow you to kill many targets from distance due to thunderbolt volley. It's a solid ranged hammer
    • 4x5 Vindicators which are our best battleline, improved by the Stormkeep rule
    • Lord Relictor can translocate units for higher mobility/survival
    • Hallowed Knights means even more damage in meele when losses occur

I am not sure about Gardus role in the list but I assume him to be no slouch either

It's certainly annoying that literally every chaos faction except Nurgle got endless spells, even Khorne, why the singular exemption. Sure seems like they gave up on them at some undefined point. Seraphon were skipped over but DoK got the last of them somehow early this year.
Lumineth got them with battletome 1.0 I think, destruction almost entirely skipped over sans Gitz.

Well, I would trade the Khorne Judgements for a new Battletome without hesitating.

In general only few of the Endless Spells see real play

  8. Hi guys, short question: I have the Slaanesh half of the Shadow and Pain Box here and was thinking if this + the new Battleforce together would be a solid start for Hedonites. I also have access to some S2D Models. But what makes me wonder: Are the 10 "small" Mortal Riders of Slaanesh any good today? Their Warscrolls look very...weak?

More rumors from 4chan. I don't know what to think anymore...

4chan pseudo rumours at its finest :D We see some other popular rumours paired with some wishlists all used as envelope to put in some controverse opinion (in this case MWG criticism)

  10. First of all: Nice to have some rumours!

    Battletome priority: lumineth???????????????????

why, why would they do this.

it hasn’t even been a year, before they got their second book after half a year.

Well, I agree this feels damn unnecassary for both LRL players (who have to buy another Battletome after a short period of time) as well as other players in dire need of a rules update.

Meanwhile we have to keep in mind that we do not know how the original shedule was planned and how things had to be delayed or sped up. Altrough both LRL and Sororitas share the same pattern: Release early Codex with first Models, update Codex with second wave and put them at high priority for the new edition release to push their lit-ness. This allows GW to flesh out the army in a very short amount of time and increases profits from books sales (at a certain cost of customer relations I guess). I think IDK were one of the last tries of GW to create "Microfactions" that AoS seemed to be focused on for a while.

  11. The Artifact with the anti CA Aura sounds damn fluffy: An Aura of Despair which makes your foes struggle so much that they don't care for orders due to their own misery. Damn thats dark, putting literal depression on an artifact, but it is so fluffy. I love it!

Nurgle beeing slower but also more resilient is also nice fluffwise, but may be a big tradeoff in competetive terms. Getting a bit faster on an objective is usually worth more than beeing more resiliant, especially with some Deathstars remaining that can onehit any unit in the game (looking at you Fulminators)

Huh, I just went over to GW webstore to think about what I want for christmas, and noticed something. In the AoS section it shows the battleforces subsection/filter thingy and the only thing there is the Soulblight Gravelords start collecting.

Would've been more exciting if I discovered that before the official announcement, but still indicates we might see them go up very soon. Could be just a bug on their site, but imo they're testing/preparing for the battleforces preorder

GW is quite messy with their shop categories. Wouldn't overinterpretate that. I've seen already some weird things around, like Eldar Autarchs listed as Vehicles and SC! Boxes as Elite-Slot for some 40k Army and so on

Unfortunately I think it's just the case that Xenos hardly sell as well as Space Marines. While it was ridiculously priced, Blood of the Phoenix stuck around for ages. In addition, the Ork box didn't sell out too quickly (nor did the limited edition book). It's a vicious cycle - not just about a lack of model support, but having the fanbase behind it not being as large or invested.

I remember that I've seen some numbers from a big survey (Reddit? White Dwarf?) that about 70-80% of 40k players own some sort of Space Marine army. Assuming this is true and GW knows about it, it makes perfect sense they release so much Marine stuff: It simply has a wider potential target group. Also it becomes some sort of self-fullfilling prophecy: More new stuff, more players attracted to marines. I am just afraid this is a bit unhealthy for the game on long term.

Btw this is what makes AoS so awesome: People play very much different armies which leads to a more diverse game.

  14. I have to say that I really like how GW matches the Flair of the realm on to the releases tied to them:

Ulgu: What happens in Ulgu, stays in Ulgu. That does account especially for Malerion.

Hysh: Bathe in Teclis and LRL radiant Glory!

Shyish: Past glory days are over, new releases are now dead for GA:Death.

Ghur: A wild mess of a release shedule for the Ghur-Edition. Perfect match!

Ghyran: Well, last time I checked my Flower pots they were doing fine so as long as I do not look at them I can assume this is still true.

Varanspire: Well, the mess of rules that S2D are they are the perfect manifestation of Chaos.

  15. A small question as I am not up to date in AoS rumours recently: Do we know if christmas Battleforce Boxes will come this year? Has GW mentioned anything? Because considering current issues with logistics I wouldn't be suprised to hear them beeing canceled

    How about a “void” faction

WotC did this theme cranked up to 11/10 on awesome cale with Eldrazi in Magic. Some mix of Eldritch Horror and stuff. Actually having Eldrazi as a AoS Faction would be friggin' nice and a better Crossover than Space Marines for Magic.  bf21645ba4d143aef53ad63f4a29220339693d99c4rd4r7_UVElC2YyiL.jpgifwI18eqKOgl_RR7PJaVWFUfKELxIZpdmZjr7yUwd7b3bd0666b4f5e76b40354780945dc8.jpgEldrazi-Art-for-Eldrazi.jpg

  17. @Kaleb Daark I really enjoyed reading your opinion on that matter! I agree that not every single faction should have *all* the options and that those differences make up the charm of the game! WHFB had some sort of a base frame and you could easier put models in to different categories. AoS factions seem to lack this common frame, or at least it is overshadowed in my opinion by the different Warscrolls that all try to be different and new and end up feeling noisy. Which is why I miss thoose clearly defined roles in AoS and dislike that weird, pushed individuality of models.

AoS 1.0 had the same rule for all Banners, Musicians and Leaders across a faction which somehow had this "common frame" theme. If you were about to learn your  faction, you mostly had to memorize those once and it made your army feel more coherent. All Dwarves Musicians had their ability to march instead of running to mention an example. Current design trend leads to more and more "unique" patterns. But like in society: When everyone tries to be unique, no one really is.

That is why I prefered the frame of "boring" repeating patterns: Because minor deviations were enough to stand out and make units exciting. F.e. by making the elite infantery better and by not including a ranged unit you can easily create perks that make a faction feel unique, like the example of Chaos Warriors you mentioned.

That is also why the current allegiance system is a blade with two edges: While it allows you to adjust the gameplay of your army way better it also makes the traits of the faction as a whole less defined. Archetypes are no longer tied to factions. You can play Skaven as Horde or Elite army, SCE can field either 40-50 redeemer units or just 10 dragons and so on.
