  1. Maybe our Runelords will have more of priestly role of offering prayers to Grungni (they have the priest keyword currently), having a big runehammer appearing to come and smash foes with AOE mortal wounds be cool.
  2. In most cases the differences between Quarrellers and Thunderers is usually only 1-2 wounds even with the Runelord buff on so I find it comes more down to playstyle and aesthetic, personally I like my duardin with boomsticks. Nothing signals the death of something quite like the boom of a duardin handgun. Generally I find having the built in rend -1 on the Thunderers frees me up a little bit to put rend elsewhere in my army where I need it so that I have more widespread rend, this is especially helpful against armies that get better saves when hit with 0 rend weapons as you can negate it (like deathrattle). Speaking of which I just finished up my Ice Warden clan's King and his personal retinue of Thunderers. Anyone who attempts to attack the King are met with a withering hail of handgun fire!
  3. Our little circle of 5 players are starting to build our first forces now. I've got a big duardin army that I've rebased for AoS and starting out with this as my first 500pts. My friends are playing Deathrattle (death), Ironjaws (destruction), Slaanesh (Chaos) and Skaven (Chaos). So one of each Grand Alliance with me being the Order player! I've painted up 10 warriors and a Runelord so far, working on the Thunderers then some Longbeards and more Warriors to follow. One thing I'm not sure about is whether to go Runelord or Warden King in 500pts? Both seem quite powerful and bring different things, I feel like giving thunderers rend in low points games could be particularly nasty, but the having the oathstone and the Warden King giving out +1 to wound against a unit also seems equally nasty. Making a Warden King a combat beast with the Chamon Rune blade and legendary fighter trait looks fun too. I'm also trying to keep it thematic and use Chamon artefacts and traits as my Duardin clan hail from Chamon known as the Ice Wardens. They are a unique type of Duardin called Ice Duardin who live in some of the coldest mountains between the free cities in Chamon. Their trade and craft is to mine the coldest metal possible from the deep icy metallic mineries in the mountains of Chamon, then craft weapons and armour as hard as the mountains themselves through an mystical process called Frostforging. Therimm Coldsteel the Ancient is the clan's oldest and most knowledgeable Runelord and guards the clan's sacred rituals in Runesmithing and Frostforging. It is said that during the Frostforging process Therimm deals with temperatures so cold that it would be fatal even for Ice Duardin. 4. The old slayers do have warscroll in age of sigmar and pitched battle point cost for matched play, so you can run them as they are. The downside is you can only run them in order allegiance in matched play. But if you play casually with friends and they are reasonable people you can ask to take them as allies in a dispossessed force
  5. I really like their current rules, and the sculpts still hold up well. They just need the dispossessed keywords and they would be very effective with our current abilities from the Runelord and Warden King
  6. It just strikes me as strange that the poisoned wind mortar isn't even in the compendium or the AoS app, yet is still in the warscroll builder. Especially since the warscroll builder is an official tool that gets updated with the new releases too. On the plus side I've just found out that GW actually brought back the old discontinued metal warpfire thrower onto their store (released 1995!) when it wasn't on there before this Skaven battletome release. (https://www.games-workshop.com/en-GB/Skaven-Warpfire-Thrower-2019) The metal bolt thrower and grudge thrower are from 2006 and even made it to finecast production as well, so there's hope yet that they may bring them back and resell them
  7. So in the Skaven book the Poisoned Wind Mortar team didn't make it into the book, and doesn't have a warscroll in the compendium, yet has a points value on the warscroll builder which is very confusing. Are we likely to see this happen with the old bolt thrower and grudge thrower too when we get our book since they are not on the website anymore?
  8. Currently painting up a unit 20 miners with the mining cart but on paper the unit looks like it can chuck put some real nasty damage. Especially with the steam drill, 2H weapons and the whole unit throwing blasting charges while in combat in the shooting phase. Anyone have any experiences with using miners?
  9. I'm quite enjoying the grudge thrower, solid reliable max damage on horde units or knocking chunks off heavier stuff. If the ironweld finally get the dispossessed keyword in the Cannons again then I can finally run 2 Cannons, a grudge thrower and a gunmaster in a dispossessed allegiance again
  10. Yeah I like the theme of the dispossessed being like an iron wall that the enemy just crashes and shatters upon, I hope GW double down on that so that charging a dispossessed line is a real all or bust moment for an opponent
  11. You'd probably want to mix the Ironbreakers/Irondrakes box with the Hammerers/Longbeards box to get a truly unique warrior conversion. Alternatively I can sell you a ton of warrior bits if you are UK based 😤
  12. Heh, I'm still rocking the skull pass warriors and thunderers and miners! There is a certain charm to them. But I do think warriors and thunderers will stick around as battleline for years to come to be honest just like the moonclan grots box. The warriors/thunderers boxes are still pretty good kits with some decent customisation options to be fair. I made longbeards out of the warrior kit from before plastic longbeards were a thing and when metal ones had gone kaput, you used to only be able to make longbeards out of the plastic kit. I put shields on their backs and gave each one faceplate armour, plus one smoking his pipe and holding the standard while grumbling about how weedy grots are these days!
  13. haha point taken I wish I had one!! Younger me went with dual cannons it seems. I only play casual with friends but they like to play 'by the book' a little bit so I try not to proxy where I can! Something I've just noticed, I'm not sure if they will let me ally 'Dwarfs' with dispossessed though as 'Dwarfs' isn't in the list of allies in the general's handbook...will have to speak to them and see. Otherwise I might be forced to run the cannon instead for it to be legal. Maybe try warriors as you say for more bodies and bit more of a footprint on the table. 14. Thanks @Furuzzolo, what are your thoughts on the grudge thrower and bolt thrower? Are these pretty unplayable now then? Am I right in thinking that the Warden King and Runelords abilities don't buff these artillery because they don't have the dispossessed keyword? If so this is very sad as I love the models Would something like this work? Keeping the dispossessed allegiance so I can get the pickaxe and let the thunderers and bolt thrower pelt the enemy with a tough screen of advancing warriors, longbeards and ironbreakers in front? My thinking is the longbeards could make the Ironbreakers a hammer while the longbeards and warriors tarpit whatever comes with shield wall. Then maybe the Warden King and thunderers can drop rudely in with the pickaxe. 15. Hi all, I'm new to AoS (but play a bunch of 40k and other scifi systems) and I dug out a huge dwarf force that I had in my loft from my WHFB days as a teenager, most of the sculpts are battle for skull pass or metal OOP ones. I've been reading up on things but would like a bit of assistance trying to make something out what I've got. I'm encountering a problem though in that some of my units and artillery are part Dwarf / part dispossessed / part Ironweld so I don't know what to do. If I played Grand Alliance Order would it work okay? Can I make a decent list out of what I've got without having to buy more stuff? Also is there a way I could run a decent dispossessed allegiance list at 1k so I can get this pickaxe I oft keep reading about. Thanks fellow beards!
