  1. I don't think we'll see an extra wound but hopefully we'll show our durability more through the craftsmenship of our armour, ignoring rend, reducing damage, reroll saves etc. I'm curious to see if the Fyreslayers will be the same points cost for that extra wound though.
  2. I don't have Irondrakes either, I still use Thunderers. You can still win games with Warriors and they are still quite good at low points games, for 80pts they do well. But if you can get some Ironbreakers I'd recommend it. Personally I wouldn't bother buying the book just for the army trait, command trait and artefacts unless you can find it cheap second hand. A little bit of googling will get you the information easily and the names of these are listed in the warscroll builder too. I do find inspiring command better than stubborn to the end as you auto pass battleshock, no roll at all. My Warden king is usually within 6" of most of my units as he is usually near the front in near the fighting. It can be less effective if your army has to spread out for objectives but then the army trait of reroll battleshock test is still quite good too. There are pros and cons to both, but if you like to use legacy compendium units or like a lot of duardin artillery then order allegiance is still quite good. Most of our main combat buffs come from the units themselves rather than the allegiance - Warden King's ancestral grudge, Runelord's rune buff, longbeard's grumbling, warriors resolute in defense etc etc
  3. To be honest in terms of defence Warriors and Thunderers are only okay, I started to temper my expectations of them after my first few games as while a 5+ save rerollable is admirable, it doesn't always get the job done especially if rend is involved. I tend to view Warriors more as damage dealers and screens now since they get the reroll 1 to wound in the opponents combat phase. I quickly found Ironbreakers to be far superior in a defensive role. I tried 2 games against my Slaanesh friend once, in the first game I used Warriors and Thunderers and heroes and got completely smashed. In the second game I switched to Ironbreakers and less Thunderers and his army just crashed against them barely doing anything. They just ignored all of the -1 rend that was slaughtering the warriors while still re-rolling their saves on an improved 4+ and then hitting back with 2 attacks each. Don't give up dispossessed though, I'm playing around with lists and games a lot and I'm finding Ironbreakers to be core to me winning games at the moment. I use them as allies, my friends are gracious enough to let me use them as allies but with no dispossessed allegiance rules which seem fair. Technically the general's handbook doesn't list them as allies but we are quite a casual group so my friend's don't mind. Unless you're going to an official GW tournament I think most people / groups won't mind you using them as allies. I like to use a lot of legacy stuff like miners, bolt thrower, grudge thrower etc. so I run Order allegiance sometimes if I need to. Running Order allegiance is very liberating as you can dispossessed / compendium / ironweld stuff freely with no need to worry about keeping it within 400pts allies or quantity of allies. Yes you lose stubborn to the end but if give your general the inspiring command trait from the order list of traits units with 6" don't roll battleshock AT ALL, and the whole armies trait as order is to reroll battleshock tests which can be nice combined with our clan banners and longbeards watching over them. You also lose reroll 1s to hit for the grudges but hey I can take 2 cannons, a cogsmith, a bolt thrower, a grudge thrower and 20 miners (960pts in allies) so who cares? Also with order you can give your warden the +1 damage relic blade which makes him a really decent fighter makings each swing D3+1 damage.
  4. At least AoS has done boxes of 20 for most other factions cheap line troops, we could only hope the same for ours!
  5. No you are correct, GW tend to sculpt the miniatures first and give their sculptors complete freedom so that they can sculpt whatever they feel inspired to sculpt, then after it is finished the rules team chat with sculptor about what things mean or represent on the model and then create rules accordingly - taking other units that are already in the army into consideration. I agree that would just be like a carbon copy of Lord of the Rings, I think dwarven steam chariots driven by pistons and not animals could be a cool idea though! I think they should be replaced, they are not totally bad kits but the horned helms feel a little out of place. The units are good but they just need a fresh aesthetic.
  6. I'm not sure I wholly agree that it would take away from who we are, warhammer dwarfs are incredibly intelligent and inventive and actually don't mind mobility if you look at things like the Gyrocopter. I think it would be good to have some sort land based invention that would bring speed, maybe some sort of drill machine?
  7. With new terrain pieces appearing for each faction and with us being experts in building fortifications I'd like to see a rule that similarly shows how skilled we are at dismantling fortifications too, a rule that lets us actually remove enemy terrain that has the SCENERY keyword could be really fun. Smash those loonshrines and herdstones to pieces!
  8. I've only tried 10 so far in small points games but they were fun. I used them to attack an objective an opponent was holding. They didn't want to leave the objective so I was able to move up and throw the charges and then charge into combat with the pick axes. The steam drill was excellent when it hit.
  9. I found them actually quite good, don't allocate wounds to the cart to keep it alive so that the unit has blasting charges, those things are nasty each turn!
  10. You use thunderers as a screen? Interesting, I tend to screen my thunderers with warriors / ironbreakers so that they continue shooting outside of melee.
  11. I find it ironic that my duardin are more of a horde than my moonclan grots at the moment :s
  12. I would probably drop the hammerers unless you want to run them as 20. At 10 the unit loses it's hitting power quite quickly after a few casualties. If you make your warriors unit a big unit of 40 they will be able to reroll all wounds in the enemy combat phase for quite some times and also get a 40pt discount. That would leave you 200pts to play with, an organ gun and gunmaster could be fun?
  13. I'm hoping when we do get a dispossessed battletome it will bring us 4 - 6 new clan sub factions that are new for the setting each with their own cool rules and traits, similar to the Kharadron.
  14. The rumour floating around is that we will be getting our artillery back in the next GHB as they will be giving them the dispossessed keyword, I can't remember where I read this soruce though. Might have been the rumour thread? Looks great! I've got 2 of these. I wanted to cut them up and put them on the artillery bases but they look to be just a little too big. I did cut one of the statues off though and put the skull pass unforged on top so that he looks like he's jumping off it In other news I finished up all of my retro Ironbreakers for my Ice Warden clan, they only sat in their blister packs for about 15 years! Damn these are good sculpts. Not sure what to call them yet (maybe Glacial Guard) but the idea will be that they are all veteran ex-miners who now act as escorts and guards to the clan's miners as they mine in the dangerous ice mineries. To become a Glacial Guard they have to have worked in the ice mineries of the Chamon mountains for at least 50 years so that they are familiar with it's tunnel layout and the different types of dangers so that they can protect the clan's miners as best as possible. The oldest beard in these units is usually an ex foreman who has led mining expiditions in uncharted territory.
  15. Having a second force does certainly help to balance out that disappointment, I switch between duardin and my Moonclan grots as and when I feel inspired. One has a tome, new models and tons of support while the other has GHB and legacy models. But I love what the dispossessed stand for and they do often surprise me sometimes (I played 2 games of Grand Slaughter against Ironjaws and Hosts of Slaanesh the other day and came out on top in both games!). Even if you don't have another AoS force even just having another miniatures project or game system really helps. I'm trying to finish off my Night Lords at the moment so that I can get some new stuff from the Chaos releases and I've also got Necromunda that I still want to touch. So having a few different projects that you can go to when you feel some disappointment with the duardin really helps. Our time in the spotlight will come just like it does for everyone, let the nekkid fellows enjoy their limelight for a little while.
  16. Axe and shield for me as that is what comes on these old models, but if I had the choice id actually go pistol + bomb or dual pistols.
  17. Work has begun on these old timers in gromril. Leadbelcher spray is a god send! I've hit them with a coelia greenshade wash and drybrushed stormhost silver on them, next step is paint all that lovely detail.
  18. Will it do okay without an engineer do you think? I also have the option of painting an unforged as one of my regular opponents plays hosts of slaanesh. Maybe he'd be worth it against them?
  19. Finished up some more warriors last night. That puts me at 20 warriors, 10 Thunderers, a Warden King and a Runelord now - 500pts/ Not sure what to paint up next, I'm thinking Ironbreakers or a cannon.
  20. Either way whether it's a big restock or small restock it's a good thing if they're selling out, it tells GW that dispossessed are a popular and wanted faction. The sales figures won't lie and we all know that's what GW look at
  21. Well I played 3 games of knife to the heart. First game against Slaanesh was close and I used the warden king list, it came down my 2 heroes fighting off fiends and some daemonettes but in the end they killed them and took the objective. Second hame was against Legion of Nagash and the sacrament allegiance. Tried the list with just the Runelord and got stomped, I got the first turn but one unit of black knights deleted my 20 warriors in a double turn and it went downhill from there. 3rd game I played against the undead again and used this list: Allegiance: Dispossessed- Grudge: Speed MerchantsMortal Realm: ChamonRunelord (100)- General- Trait: Resolute - Artefact: Teardrop of Grugni 10 x Ironbreakers (140)10 x Ironbreakers (140)10 x Miners (120)- AlliesTotal: 500 / 500Extra Command Points: 0Allies: 120 / 200Wounds: 35 My friend graciously let me use miners. But the highlight was the ironbreakers, damn those guys soaked a black Knight charge and then deleted them in one combat phase. Then the black knights were summoned back and they came again but this time they killed a unit of ironbreakers. My other unit held the line and killed a unit of skeletons and a Wight King. My miners meanwhile attacked the objective against a unit of skeletons, they were doing well between the pickaxe and the steam drill killing 3 skeletons in one hit! But they had a graveside and necromancer to replenish. In the end I won as no one had objectives and I killed more points worth of units. So yeah really happy with the ironbreakers in low points games, warriors disappointed me at this size game unfortunately, even with shield wall up constantly. It was good to get a better feel on unit capabilities though. Thunderers were great if I could keep them away from the enemy.
  22. Going to be playing quite a few games tonight vs various opponents - namely deathrattle, Ironjaws, and hosts of slaanesh. Only small games but I'm taking a couple of lists. To be honest it's a toss up for me between Warden King and Longbeards as they both bring a good buff and combat potential, though I feel the Warden King has better survivability. Allegiance: Dispossessed- Grudge: (Depends on opponent)Mortal Realm: ChamonWarden King (120)- General- Trait: Grudgebearer - Artefact: Argent Armour Runelord (100)10 x Warriors (80)- Axes or Hammers & Shields10 x Warriors (80)- Axes or Hammers & Shields10 x Thunderers (120)Total: 500 / 500Extra Command Points: 0Allies: 0 / 200Wounds: 40 Allegiance: Dispossessed- Grudge: (Depends on opponent)sMortal Realm: ChamonRunelord (100)- General- Trait: Resolute - Artefact: Godwrought Helm 10 x Warriors (80)- Axes or Hammers & Shields10 x Warriors (80)- Axes or Hammers & Shields10 x Longbeards (100)- Great Axes & Shields10 x Thunderers (120)Total: 480 / 500Extra Command Points: 0Allies: 0 / 200Wounds: 45
  23. Yes same I have these ones + skull pass ones for a full unit of 20 with the steam drill and Mining cart with harpoon. I even glued the blasting charges on every single one it looks great. And with the spare picks I changed some of the skull pass picks so they are look different. I was actually thinking whether I can get away with using them as Longbeards since the weapon profile is the same. *sees username, suspects sneaky-sneaky trap*
  24. Does anyone know why the miner regiment box was ever discontinued? I put some together recently and actually it was a really good sprue. Great detail, LOADS of bits and not much wasted sprue space.
  25. I hope in the new tome we can dish out some mortal wounds, but not to the point of all the time and the be all and end all. The new khorne tome is just a mortal wounds bonanza. I hope that our abilities swing the other way and actually give us very strong abilities in reducing mortal wounds and damage. e.g feel no pains that include mortal wounds, abilities that halve the amount of damage incl mortal wounds, some sort of roll that even reflect mortal wounds back onto the attacker.
