Wonder how seraphon index is gonna work, since they only got 4 factions in 3rd: 2 constellations each for starborn and coalesced

Really hoping they keep the CPP system in 4th, the idea of summoning big magic space dinos in the opponents backline never fails to fill me with joy

Seraphon needs a revamps in their design because It is one of the hardest faction to balance and I am bored that all the editions happen the same. Maybe removing summoning and changing for return destroyed units is a way to balance. But the CPP is the same bad design as always, and a faction that requieres changes and fixes during all the editions is a design problem.

Given harlequins just get strands of fate, I guess IJ and KB will all get a few generic killy battle traits and you'll have to take the formation to get more stealth bonuses for KB or charge bonuses for IJ? God I hope that changes for the BT if that's the case, unless our main battle traits are actually fun and flavourful

I am not worried about KB and IJ Battle traits because they were very little and lame, I really think that Index will improve the actual book. Seraphon is other history. Check SCE, they are almost like the actual book but better an even more flavourful. They can mantain the actual rules, improve them and change thinks like Big Waaagh rules and time Tricky Treats for something more flavourful and simple to play.

My point is the expectation of having a full end of edition book with an Index booklet, or even more complete than that.

So for split books like Orruk Warclans and (selfishly) Seraphon do we expect them to be treated as 2 seperate armies living in a singular tome?

Question would be can we expect specific Battle Traits for Ironjawz and Kruleboyz as well as Starborne and Coalesced? I wouldn't be surprised for them to only have 4 battle formations between the two.

Check Aeldari Index to have some hints.

It's only a good thing, if you still can have the option to make mimic the city rules we had in the CoS 3th edition  book.

If there are only 4 battle formations and they are as exciting as those two from SCE. Oh boy, that imo a bad deal.

I love the Lethis rules, human characters became priests and a cool and thematic prayer. If this is still possible. Cool. If the battle formations are clones as the ones from SCE. That sounds incredible dull and I honestly see no reason why subfactions had to go.... .

But that's the index problem. With the new book you will recieve a lot more options.

It seems that there is no "end of phase" any more. We have only seen "end of turn", and the article about commands implied that the player taking the turn uses all their abilities and then their opponent uses theirs.

I edited my message, thanks. As you said that article says that are used at the end of the phase

The problem is that the ability that has DEPLOY is the one that you don't use to setup the units in the movement phase.

Not sure about that. Only Commands (that are not Reactions) happens at the end of the enemy phase:

The Abilities that happens at the end of a phase have their own tempo on their ability:

A bit weird, if we use Keywords to block/interact/synergies, why not here?

EDIT: From the CA article: "which are used at the end of their respective phases"

How is that possible when CoS has 11 free cities. All with different rules. Will they have 11 battle formations? And how they will do all the humans, duardin, Aelves orders and abilities?

Index will be different to the next Battletome, and of course, to the old Battletome

We will lose them, indeed, until the BT arrives.

Battletomes will mantain the Battle Formations.

EDIT: This is not a change for the index, it is the new policy

Thus in AoS 4h edition, all battletomes lost their subfactions. No legion of the first prince anymore, no Lethis anymore? 😞 Why had it to be removed? To balance it even more for tournament play? Ugh.

No, the rules will be the same. They remove the names only.

So, SCE have a total of 4 Battle Traits:

    • Finest Hour
    • The Celestial Realm
    • Scions of the Storm
    • Heaven-sent (Command-1CP).

Each Faction-Pack has 4 Subfactions Battle Formations:

    • Thunderhead Host
    • Lightning Echelon
    • ??
    • ??

I don't see where it's written that Subfactions Battle Formations only have one trait. I will wait until I see more, but it seems really nice to get rid of Heroic Actions™ and Monstruous Rampage™, in return, it seems that we have a strong system that can support anything (good).

It looks like a Keyword (small caps). Another Ability keyword is DEPLOY. And another Unit Keyword: CAVALRY. Another article talking only about keyword could be good, because there is a lot going on there...

Btw, Scions of the Storm doesn't have any keyword or condition, and it's not a command. So, can they still move after falling from the sky?

Set up implies it counts as has moved.

    EDIT: Sorry

    Lol indeed 🙂

But does the removal of sub-factions also mean that I lost my free cities in CoS and my damned legions in StD? Are these replaced by formations? I hope I am wrong, as that would be a real shame.

It is how it will work now

Seeing how this is a rumour channel I guess I should add that there is a rumour of a Blood Knight focused Vampire Counts army, not unreasonable to think if any of the other legacy factions have changed. I.e. Dark Elves.

Legends factions are not in the focus. We are gonna get campaigns, new models and new lore for the 9 factions for the next years.

We can talk about the Legend factions on the next cycle of the game.

    Who knows in the future.

Any rumours about the dark elves from Cities of Sigmar leaving the range and going over to Old World as a dark elf faction?

None of the Legends factions will return on a short period of time.

Thank you I missed that post. This is the problem after removing one Faction, we all worry ours is next.

Too much stress in the real world to worry about plastic soldiers!!

You don't need to be worried for a while.

In the other thread @Nezzhil said Ogors are "very safe" next edition. They are occasionally a touch rumour mongery. They then posted the "hungry" post. I suspect they know something to do with Ogors.

My mantra is: if the rumour say something about a Legend faction then is fake

Bro sprinkled a bit of plausible rumours stolen from other people (VC are the 1st legacy army to come back to TOW once they finish the rerelease of the 9 core factions) and pretty safe bets (ofc GW is not happy that Peachy and Suggs tell insider stories about GW, you don't say Sherlock) over a big pile of lies. Harlequins, FS, WHU gone ? Legions Imperialis being a massive flop ? GW cutting down AdMech ? Grey Knights being lumped in Agents of the Imperium ? That's a veeeeeeeery long stretch at best, and it sounds made up to generate buzz.

And "Chorfs not happening because they look too antisemitic" no. First, Whitefang said Chorfs were in the pipeline and he's infinitely more reliable than some anonymous 4chan rando. Second, people are intelligent enough to know the difference between something inspired by ancient Babylonians and actual modern day Jewish people.

Even the Legacy armies is fake right now. They have a lot of content to develop before the release of legacy factions. Claiming for that kind of factions when "the book is not finished" is fake too. We have two examples of campaigns that could be released with new content and old one:
    - The Badlands (Human Border Realms vs Savage orcs/goblins)
    - The Civil War (Emprie of Men and Beastman)
