Thanks Ben, and thanks to all who posted congrats in here. Was a great weekend, the event was superb and not just because of my result.

Army was great fun, as has been for the last few months i have been running it. It has dropped off the radar a little, but is still super strong with the speed and damage output alongside the ability to get around the table.

Ok, got back from Michigan GT last night and happy to report a very successful tournament. After 5 games vs. KO, Khorne (CoB), LoN, LoN, Nurgle I was lucky enough to take the big “W.” 5-0 and 242/250 BP. Same list as Nova

Congrats Bud, great to see the same list doing so well again.

Would love some more info on this when you get chance.

Maybe a conversion to a zombie dragon? but his wings are too not-undead...

Hey, that is indeed my army :)

    Its actually a McFarlanes Dragon.

  4. I have been using Spirit Hosts since GHB 2016 dropped. They were part of a mixed death list, and most commonly ran 2 x units of 6.

No point talking to much on previous, but now with the added spell lores available and still with a number of buffs for them i think they are still a top choice.

Small units have there place at 120 points. little objective holding units as the least, nice with the unmodified save. But also able to buff the small footprint and throw 18 attacks at small units/heroes is nice.

Units of 6-9 as already mentioned can both deal a huge amount of damage out but also be a great tarpit to stop units. I have found recently that with a lot of -1 to hit out there, you can play some match-ups where their damage output isn't available. But with your potential to slow the enemy down (I use Nagash and spells with minus to hit or less attacks to name a few) means they hold up the opponents damage. This is where you need other options in the army, which before wasn't as easy to find, but i think now with the new book we have many more options.

To name a few, my list for Heat 2 at Warhammer World had Nagash. Since then i am now running Nagash and Prince Vhordrai (he came in instead of the second unit of Spirit Hosts and a few small heroes), and i am also going to try a large block of skeletons and Morghasts at some point as well.

I have not used them in full Nighthaunts since the latest releases, but i have played against them. In Grand Host of Nagash i feel the Nighthaunts units in general are better off than using Nighthaunts Allegience atm. Fingers crossed in the future this could change!

I agree in part, however it's another of those very nice theoryhammer ideas and experience tells me that (even with Frenzy of Violence) Gore-gruntas cannot be relied upon to wipe out very much at all. Definitely a potential for it though and as you say the extra reach afforded by their movement does at least make this viable.

Regardless though, I definitely think Gore-gruntas are a must right now especially in non Ironfist armies, just to give the added movement for early objective grabbing. It is this over their combat potential (or lack thereof) that is most key to the way I would plan to use them.

2 Heroes is undoubtedly poor and another big concern of the original list :S

Agree completely re the 10 Brutes and Cabbage remaining the centre of the army.

I certainly lack the experience of many here for sure, but it would be something i would look from with the Gore-Gruntas. I look forward to the first time of many i am sure they let me down when i think i have a great plan that they need to start by killing something >:(

Your right though, the movement will be great.

At least you have the Spear Chukkas in here as well, as this will offer you that option of removing the heroes that can be a pain. Maybe more reliable than the Gruntas?

I know this is a little different again and your brain is already hurting, but how about this:

    Allegiance: Ironjawz

    Megaboss on Maw-Krusha (460)
General, Ironclad, Dabbing (or something - maybe Boss Skewer with so many Brutes)
    Orruk Weirdnob Shaman (120)
    Orruk Warchanter (80)
    Boss Skewer
    Orruk Warchanter (80)

    10 x Orruk Brutes (360)
    5 x Orruk Brutes (180)
    5 x Orruk Brutes (180)
    3 x Orruk Gore Gruntas (140)

    Grot Spear Chukka (120)
    Grot Spear Chukka (120)

    Ironfist (160)

    Total: 2000 / 2000

Little less models loosing 1 unit of the Gruntas but the army speeds up across the board so you dont feel the loss of their speed then. Its the list i have been focusing on mostly lately except i dont have the Spear Chukkas in.

Help me! I'm having a wobble regarding my Facehammer GT list...I'd managed to put this very concern to the back of my mind but texting @Sangfroid this morning pre 8.30am was not a good idea and now I'm a bit more awake I'm feeling all unsure :S

Haha, i love this :) Trust bloody @Sangfroid

I agree with the comments already added, List 2 seems the most rounded. To add to @Sangfroid comment on the buff being utilized on the Grunta's, i also see them as a great unit to start of the Smashing and Bashing in later rounds as well. being able to use the speed to put them where you want to then kill and activate the  chain of combats could be key. the speed can hunt out some of the smaller / weaker  of the enemy units / heroes and with the right setup line up the big hitters to follow.

I also really find it hard only having 2 heroes. As mentioned you end up wasting a unit sitting on an objective that isnt threatened, but also with the smaller number of units / models in the Ironjawz lists you cant give up the killing power from the Brutes that would be sat there otherwise.

Also, definitely keep a unit of 10 Brutes. Such a solid second unit along with the Mawkrusha.

  7. Good to see some updates on here mate.

The Goregrunta's look really good, cant wait to see them irl.

Looking at the EGGS list on paper, it definetly was the right decision to go 2 x 3 Grunta's. The list is quite small on unit numbers and even though i like the idea of the unit of 6, it dont think it would have helped as much. Interested to hear your reports as they get added.

Maybe we could arrange that Game 100 this month before the GHB2017? It could be the rise of Nagash to my nighthauts to face off against the mighty Krunk and Da Black Sunz? I thin Nagash is the appropriate level hero to give it a go (as my archaon keeps falling ;) ).

The Eshin game sounded great in particular. Stop tempting me to collect a new force.

I watched this game, it was a really good one and as you, made me look at the Eshin. Such a cool list.

A great moment in this game, we got to see a broken megaboss. Was sat there silent and broken for 10ish minutes unable to decide on his next move. Very entertaining for me and @Paul Buckler :)

s game was played on the Friday night at the UK Masters at Warhammer World vs top bro Chippy, pretty cool! Ricky had his Masters list with Archaon, which you can hear all about in this episode of TBS Weekly -

    *Formatting has gone weird here*

Once again we were trying out the new Escalation. It was in this game I decided to essentially split my army in two and try to compete for the two side objectives, leaving the central one open.
The thinking here is that with the multiple Warchanters, the army can be split and still be functional, which is often not so easy for the opponent to do, especially if they deploy centrally. As it was, this went really well for me. Ricky went light on his right, my left, leaving just 10 Marauders to do the job. This meant my Gore-gruntas could charge in, clear them out before moving towards the central objective with the Ardboys and 5 Brutes. I was actually able to leave a single Warchanter on the left hand objective for the entire game, scoring every turn...a bit criminal really!!
The knock on effect of this was that I was also able to smash more Marauders and Plaguebearers off the central objective and tie that up. The actual battle was really fought over my right hand objective (which was on Ricky's side of the board). A unit of Ardboys ran up to grab the objective and I shielded them off with the Megabrutes. Ricky hadn't played Ironjawz before, so wanted to stress test Archaon ahead of the main event so piled him into the Megabrutes. Unfortunately for him, the Varanguard failed their charge so the big dog went in alone. There was plenty of carnage and both units were depleted but I don't think destroyed (Archaon down to 4 wounds). As it was, I was so far up on objectives it was impossible for Ricky to win by about turn 3. We both acknowledged he would probably play different in future, but it was certainly a useful learning experience for us both.
    Result - Major Victory

It was a really good and helpful game as you say. I like that your list allows for being able to split for this game, it really limits a list like mine which is smaller model count and for the most part supports each other.

The Varanguard not getting it certainly made a big difference, but it should be noted I did miss judge the movement the turn before which meant after moves the following turn I was still needing a 9-10" charge, so well positioned by you whilst the units still claiming the objectives.

When Archaon is in that sort of position and you cant use battleshock to help grind the numbers down, you really need constant above average dice, and it was good to see that scenario in action before the event. Was some solid knowledge on the Ironjawz before I faced off against them in the event. (also unfortunately for you as well ;) )

It was certainly well played by you, and taking advantage of the clear flank on your left really pushed it early to benefit you. Got to love the 11/12" charge roll from those Goregruntas :)
