No because the Ancestral Pick-Axe has you remove the model and set it back up which Avatar of Grimnir prevents.
But it is an artefact and not a "spell or ability."

So he can't be teleported. But would Ancestral Pick-Axe work with him?

Given the soup nature of the Cities tome, allies aren't really necessary so I might try and take advantage of that to ally Gotrek in.

He'd make a remarkable ally for a Dispo-centric Cities army as you wouldn't really need to take any other allies given the soup nature of the tome.

For all the comments on how FW have not done anything for AoS I strangely can find about $5000 worth of stuff I would like to own on their website.
Yes, I know... technically for old Fantasy Battle but damn, Tamurkhan and his entire horde look killer (love the Nergal Battle Toads bigtime), the entire range of Hashut followers are awesome (those flame things would be so cool if expanded on in AoS), and all of their monsters are amazing. The Troggoth Hag seems a really important model for anyone running straight Troggs as it gives them some spell casting...
I have said it before but I will say it again... if that Merwyrm was properly usable with Idoneth it would be in my checkout cart in the time it takes me to click a mouse button.
This stuff should have found its way into the Battle Tomes long ago. I know Vince was speculating that the entire FW might be re-incorporated into GW proper or who knows? Whatever they do, I hope that it brings a good integration of the kits with the rules or they are just fancy fun painting exercises for display pieces and it would seem that 99% of us on here are in agreement we would like these things to be usable and in such a way that they actually see the table top.
Amen! The Hashut army is my #1 army, currently quite playable. Hopefully they will keep them in line with the evolving meta (like giving them the same extra wound that Fyreslayers got).
So much of FW's stuff is cool as hell and really ought to just be part of the game and not a fringe element.

I fear for our LoA with the upcoming FW changes. As well, if our Dwarfs don't get the same second Wound that the other dwarfs are all getting, that would really hurt us, imo.

I hope Steam Tanks get a warscroll re-write. I've found they hit like a wet paper bag.

@Skreech Verminking Yeah, it is funny, in a bittersweet way. I think a game like AoS benefits from having a few armies like OD & BCR that are elite, low model count armies with a single tactic to perfect. Great starter armies.

RIP, my Order Draconis army that I loved.

Took down SCE with a 1K list yesterday: Taur'ruk, Smith, Castellan, 2x10 Fireglaives, 2x Magma Cannon, 1x3 K'daai

The Shadow warriors, charriot, flying charriot are probably not going away.
Too bad what I have is High Warden, Reavers, and Swordmasters -- all likely on the chopping block.

I recently acquired a Steam Tank, 1K Dispo, & 1K Swifthawks so I am excited for this tome. Hopefully the Swifts don't get squatted.

I put up a ******-poor performance in my round robin tournament, suffering major losses to Beastclaw Raiders & Sylvaneth and a minor loss to Nurgle. Deployment errors were my biggest issue. I'm re-thinking my list and definitely dropping the artillery battalion, not worth the points.

Personally I would dump the Shackles and take the third Magma Cannon. But I've burned myself with those Shackles, maybe I need to watch a safety video on their proper usage.
Wish I had a third Magma to take.
I need the Shackles, I think. I can use them to block BCR charges, as well as zone out the board to prevent further Wyldwood summons.

I'd hate to see FW drop LoA just to make AoS all plastic. No way they remake the whole LoA line in plastic. The army will get squatted and that's that, which is too bad as it is a near-complete line and competitively viable.
-
I'd also really like to see some evidence regarding Blackshard Armor negating MWs. I don't think it does as the Armor Of Bazherak The Cruel clearly states it negates both wounds & MWs. The difference in the language leads me to believe that Blackshard does not negate MW.

I won 3 major victories and 1 minor victory at the Adepticon Championships this year using my Magma heavy Artillery Train, Tauruk, Castellan and Standard Bearer, 2 Skull Crackers and 4x10 Fireglaives. Beat out Idoneth, Ironjawz, Gloomspite mixed, minor vs another Gloomspite, lost to Beasts of Khorne (dude was playing slow though, and another turn would have made it on the edge).
Sure Azgorh is slower, but bullets make up for lack of speed.
Sure Azgorh lacks mortal wound protection, but there are so many other armies who also lack it...at least we can dish it out too, from a distance.
Sure we lack CPs, but we don't need buckets of them, just a couple. Not sure if the Magewrath Throne is a Matched Play thing? Maybe a mysterious ally could help with those?
As for the Blackshard Warhost, I don't think piling in counts as a move for the bonus purposes. Usually rules that count any kinda move as a move, say any kind of movement. A TO could say for sure but doesn't sound right to count piling in as movement to me for that rule application.
As for the Castellan, I always give him the Thermalrider Cloak to make for his short legs. Then he can keep up with the choppy units.
I'd like to know more about the Thermalrider on the Castellan. I was gonna give him Chalice Of Blood & Darkness.

I can't even play Forgeworld models in my local GW shop so that is that
Why not? They are perfectly legal to play. The only reason would be if the model's keywords don't work for Matched Play.
-
I'm reasonably happy with LoA in terms of model line and rules support. But I hate to think the line is stagnant and that we'll never get that K'Daai Destroyer or other cool things.
-
If you want to generate CP, get a Magewrath Throne on the table and make sure your General is near it.
EDIT: And I disagree that they aren't strong enough for tournament play. I've read tournament battle reports of LoA doing quite well. Especially with K'daai and Magma Cannon heavy builds.

- The new volley of shot can reroll hits of 1 for every shooting unit. Fireglaives got it already in their warscroll (when they stand still)
- There is also the melee command ability with rerolling hits of 1 in combat phase and the rerolls for our blackshard battalion (still helps a bit)
- Chaos Sorc buffing a big unit of 12 kdaai or 6 render and you've got a great smashing unit. Those just got charged by olynda, 30 chainrasp and 5 hexwraiths. They took 2 losses from the chainrasp and overkilled olynda and the hexwraith return. The next combat phase they finished those 30 chainrasp easily and continued destroying my opponents army from one flank through the other. In the end ive got even 5-6 left (and 2 fled to battleshock..)
-Others like Gutrot Spune + Blightkings for "fast movement". I bet there are some more allies which we can benefit from
- we do ignore the first wound in each melee and range unit (which can be also MW?)
-i like all 3 of our battalions. Ofc the artillery (btw can you take the same battalion twice?) one is the best, but i see uses for the blackshard too. The bullcentaur one is kinda cool for meeting engangements
Sure, but you don't have to stand still now

His points don't really matter cuz if you take him as an ally, you can ignore his points value (but you can't take any further allies).
