The mortals we saw in the trailer are our elite troops, our marauder equivalent has been shown via direchasm. The two Arabian nights characters, archers can also be seen in the background of the main trailer.

What I personally like about our elite troops is that they look like heroes(painbringers), a normal joe would think that if they were staring at them from a distance, but upon closer inspection you can see that's not the case. Especially when they start raiding you and acting out on their vices. They were clearly inspired by Sigvald. I wouldn't be surprised if many of them looked like him underneath their helm.  But then, you have the twinsouls that more explore the uncanny valley side of Slaanesh.

As someone who has been waiting since whfb for proper slaanesh mortals, I'm happy.

Twinsouls look great imo (well they all do). And yeah, good point on the Direchasm characters being the marauder equivalent.

As another Slaanesh mortals fan I agree. We should celebrate this one.

  2. We finally have proper Slaanesh mortals.

    I am now content.

(Seriously I would love some with more skin showing, for example if those are warriors, to see the marauder equivalent, but seriously, I am content).

Edit. By more skin showing I don't mean old boring Slaanesh is sexy, I mean more fur and less plate on Slaanesh barbarians.

For beastgrave, it's likely those mortals are staying there and for the boxes? Normally it takes a while for them to release the hero. So I would say start saving in my opinion if you're that desperate. But I do think this release is indicative of the future for mortals. What we are really missing is mortal elites and heroes, the battleline is already there.

Yeah, the Direchasm box will be mine. For the Shadow and Pain box idk. I already have too many of anything that's in it, but the Lord of Pain looks amazing. I'll see how it goes.

I do hope GW will focus more on Slaanesh mortals in the near future and these releases are indicative of it.

oh no need, I've seen and touched plenty of medieval junk defenders. I seem to remember Henry VIII's one, currently stored in the Tower of London, is a particularly priapic triumph!

It is believed he had syphilis, hence why the enormous cod piece.

the mortarch: this is my biggest disappointment.  GW wanted something new: they did him in a scenery rather than mounted. The miniature is nice. But the concept is weird: we are on a battlefield: moving a scenery is bad. We want dynamism. And a major character, the leader of the army MUST stand upon all his fellows. It'll be hard for me to move this scenery across the battlefield.  If GW wanted something different from other mortarch, they should have done something like a majectis charriot or a platform monster but not a moving half column+stairs!! Super bad concept on the battlefield.

First of all I wanna say I’m loving this new army and thus I disagree with most of the complaints, but this one has a valid point and I agree.

Not that I don’t like him, I love him, but he would be great on a chariot. And speaking of which, I believe this army needs chariots. They would look crazy!

Also, this is the nail in Slaves to Darkness right? A fully developed army release out of order with the Malign Portent heralds.  It seems highly likely to me whatever SoD was supposed to be- it turned into War Cry.

Nah! StD will just take a little longer. I wouldn’t worry.

It’s just that... AoS is more narrative and seasonal, right? And we’re still in Death season, we’re still in Soul Wars mode, Slaanesh is practically still missing, and Chaos isn’t the no1 threat atm.

Archaon is making his move right now, calling forth and seeking new champions as we saw in Warcry. Chaos is in preparation, but not ready yet. Same with the release.

  7. Let’s be honest. We will be ok for now if they release reworked WoC and Marauder kits, to fit into god specific armies, but at some point we do need a few god specific models. I’d say Slaanesh Warriors and nudes, Tzeentch Warriors, Nurgle nudes and beastmen for everyone except Tzeentch.

I'd wager Imperial Eagle stonework being shot up and ruined so 40K terrain. Now that might be a feature on the bottom of a model or a major bit of terrain.

That’s what I thought of it too. It’s a shot up Aquila.

  9. Imagine if the Marauders kit gets replaced by a new double purpose kit that can make either vanilla combat based barbarians or magic based chaos cultists, and the last 2 Warcry warbands have no kits cause you can make these warbands out of the StD kit!!

Yeah, I know. I’ll see myself out 😬

Yes, they fit the aesthetic but they’re better poses, better details, better sculpts - generally just better, which is what I would like. The only thing stopping me from starting a Beastmen army is the static old models. Re-do them with modern plastic technology and minus the posing restrictions that the current ones were designed with and I’m all in. Same goes for Seraphon. And Skaven.

    And StD (I’m sorry) 😬
