  1. So, I've had this warband since it came out, but I've never played it. Finally played it last night, and I love it! God, they're so freaky and fun! I'm playing just the team from the core box, but they can be really strong with some brutal effects! Are people still playing them much? I kinda want to do their campaign now.

  2. Thank you all! Yes, the guy who was pushing me to end the game the most is mostly a 40k guy. The main thing was just knowing that there's no specific prohibition on continuing as long as you have things to do (such as moving a judgement in my Hero phase or summoning in my Movement phase). And if I'd rolled the damage of the judgement well enough, I could have killed his general. Ah well. Thank you again!

  3. I was playing with my Khorne army yesterday, and I got tabled. My opponent said that was the end of the game, but I insisted we keep playing, because there was still one round left in the scenario, and I had some tricks available to me. My Wrath-Axe judgement had made the roll to stay on the table, and I had blood tithe to summon (and blood tithe summoning does not specify that you need a Hero, you just need a Skull Altar). A few people at the table told me I couldn't keep going, but I still had things I could do, even without an army. The league organizer ruled I could keep playing that game. But is it true that you just have to stop playing when your army is tabled? Anyway I still lost the game, on points, but I just want to make sure there isn't some core rule that I shouldn't have been allowed to continue, even though I had things I could do. Thank you!

You don't autolose if you have no models on the board in AoS. (Unless something changed that I missed)

Yeah, I know you can still win on points no matter what, but I just wanted to see if there was anything stopping me from spending my blood tithe points if all my units are wiped off the board. Obviously I would have no Heroes to summon them near, but if all I need is the Altar, I can stay in the fight FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE!

  5. I have a question about Blood Tithe summoning: the book says that the summoned unit needs to be set up within range of a Hero or a Skull Altar. Does that mean I can summon even if I've been tabled, because the Skull Altar isn't going anywhere? Thematically I think it would be a fun parting gift for my opponent, thinking they've wiped me out and then BLOODTHIRSTER!

Well if ever we needed proof of the city of sigmar great squat that is coming those watery cards pretty much confirm the faction as stone dead. Every army covered but cities of sigmar. What a true tragedy for the hobby and the game.

Several of the warbands from Tome of Champions don't have cards coming in this wave.  I hope they'll come out with the Scions of the Flame warband, and I hope soon!

  7. I was on the Warscroll Builder on the Community site, and I saw two separate Daemon Prince entries under Leaders for Blades of Khorne. There's the Daemon Prince of Khorne listed at 160 points, and then the Slaves to Darkness Daemon Prince at 210. Is the first one an oversight? Because i thought 210 was the new price point.

Because  people want to play with their Warrior Chamber models.

I get that, and I didn't mean to sound like people shouldn't get to enjoy their toys; however, Warcry is about speed, and I can't see Liberators and Retributors keeping up. Now if they get Prosecutors in there that could be fun, but it's hard to see what new playstyle the chamber will bring.

  9. Thank you! Yes I definitely see dropping the judgement and extra cp would be good since I need bodies.

My thinking on keeping the Daemon Prince in rearguard is to keep him protected somewhat, and also he’s the fastest thing in the army so he won’t have trouble catching up. But it’s true that the later he comes on, the less combat he gets into, and that’s a waste of Hew the Foe.

i have a soft spot for magore’s fiends, they have really good weapon profiles for blood warriors, and riptooth lets them reroll charges. I’ve been eager to get them into a game, suboptimal though they be.

    Thanks again, Smooth!

  10. I'm looking to build a 1k Meeting Engagement list, and I wanted to run this by y'all.

    Slaughterhost: Goretide

    Spearhead

    Slaughterpriest (Bronzed Flesh)

    5 x Blood Warriors

    Main Body

    Bloodsecrator (Artefact: Thronebreaker's Torc)

    5 x Blood Warriors

    5 x Skullreapers

    Rearguard

Daemon Prince of Khorne (General: Hew the Foe)

    20 x Bloodreavers

    Extra Command Point

    Hexgorger Skulls

    990/1000

My plan is to have the priest and his retinue get up behind some upfield terrain, heroes fire the Blood Warriors and Bloodreavers off into a big scrum, and the Skullreapers and Daemon Prince do the real damage.

I have some alternate ideas, such as swapping out the extra command point to add the Bleeding Icon or Wrath-Axe as long range damage dealing; or swapping out 10 Bloodreavers and the command point to take Magore's Fiends and Riptooth, whom I think are seriously underrated. What are your thoughts?

    Hi,

does anyone regularly play the Iron Golems? If yes, what is your standard crew setup?

In my experience, Iron Golems seem to be lackluster. Though I have some nice conversions in mind...

Aesthetically, I love them, and I've converted a Khorne Bloodstoker into an Ogor Breacher, and I'm working on making a Prefector out of Skullreaper parts. But! I just haven't had any luck with them on the table. They just require a lot of forethought in set-up etc, because other teams have an easier time getting around the board and shifting gears, I've found.

  12. It's definitely curbed my impulse buys. Making me more deliberate about my purchases isn't a bad thing per se, but it does take some of the fun out of popping around the game shop and just picking up a little box here or there. It feels like everything has to be an investment now, the product of considerable research and planning. Then again my hobby budget's never been particularly large.

Also, I'm curious to see if the relaunched Warcry warband boxes will have more customization pieces in them. I wouldn't be too put off by the increase if the boxes came with extra heads, weapons, bits, etc.

  13. I agree with @Troll.exe on Gore Pilgrims, because it's going to be really hard to keep groups of 20-30 reavers wholly within 16" of the slaughterpriest AND keep that slaughterpriest safe. Plus, you can catch more units in the larger 24" orbit, so everybody will get more attacks.

Also, if you're looking to have the bloodsecrator keep pace with the wave of reavers, you can give him the Thermalrider Cloak artefact, or if you want to soften up a bunch of units with mortal wounds, give him the Banner of Wrath.

  14. I submitted a pitch for a story about a wilderness clan pushed out of its ancestral homelands by a growing city. The clan heads north to the ruins of a city wracked by plagues in the Age of Chaos, and they hunt a hideous Nurgle-y beast covered in bloodshot, dripping eyes--basically conjunctivitis as monster--and its master.

In any case, acceptance or rejection, it's given me the chance to think a lot about the sort of Free City dynamic I want  for a future army, and it's given me the opportunity to develop my Silva Lacrimalis setting. We'll see!

  15. I have a question about Skarbrand's "Skarbrand's Rage" ability. Can he use this in the second round if he didn't fight in the first, or does he have to stay out of combat until round 3 to use it?

The text of the ability is this: From the second battle round, if this model is on the battlefield and did not attack in at least one of the combat phases of the previous battle round, when you look up a value on this model’s damage table the model is treated as having suffered 13 wounds.

Then I am thinking about to take 60 Blood Reavers to annoy the enemy and capture objectives just by pure mass of models.
The army would be very fragile, but maybe due to good movement I can just win by VP taken.

What I am not sure about yet, is wich heroes I would ass, since the army will be spread a lot across the table.
I was thinking about a SKullgridner with "Disciple of Khorne" and the "Sword of Judgement" just as a small wrecking ball.
A Priest will be there, just for the great support they provide.

    What would you suggest?
I do have a fair large collection, including 7 Khorgoraths, 40 Blood Warriors and even more stuff.

    Cheers///

An Exalted Deathbringer could be good for Brutal Command, to make sure nearby Bloodreavers stick around on objectives or just stay to gum up the works.

Ah, but the realms being what they are allow the possibility of other substances of bone.  Think of petrified skeletons - they have a wide range of colors.  Perhaps the bones were taken/tithed from certain areas in a realm and when left out were transformed into another mineral/color?  Perhaps the creatures the bones are from (stonetusk creature has stone skeleton) have bones made from another substance.  Lots of ways to justify it in AoS.

Katakros does say "ensorcelled ivory" so basically a wizard did it and that works for me!

Interesting you mention the stonehorns--could that be the basis for a potential Mawtribes-Ossiarch battlebox? Nagash wants only thr coolest bones, and the Ogors won't give 'em up? 😄
