It's not loads of fun to play against. That's the point. The notion that something can be broken and if you don't enjoy playing against it hey that's your problem is sad to hear. Maybe the problem is with the broken units, not the players. Maybe people want the game to be better than it is.

News flash: Fulminators are broken. Pointing at fulminators and saying they are adds nothing to the conversation. Fulminators are stupid and need a nerf but it's apples to oranges because it is impossible for fulminators to do the specific thing a SDG spam list can do.

SDG are a very poorly designed unit. How the designers of the Stormcast book thought that giving one warscroll 7 different abilities and powerful synergies would be okay is baffling. This unit cannot be fixed with points. You can nerf it to the ground (500 points for 2?) so it becomes unplayable, but at any reasonable point value the unit will be a problem because of spamming them and the unique problems they cause. They need a warscroll rewrite.

I'm sure everyone wants the game to be better then that, I'd like to them to be better then that.

Fulminators, stormdrake guard, whatever will eventually be nerfed.

Then there will be a new release which is busted, spammed, and nerfed.

The same cycle has had happened in 40k in forever and has happened in AoS since release. It won't change anytime soon.

  2. Wait... GW have made a unit that's above the power curve and people are spamming?

In other news the sky is blue and water is wet.

This is the way of the world with GW, AoS isn't balanced, GW don't make balanced games and people spam the best things. If you want a balanced game where things like this don't happen AoS isn't it.

It's however loads of fun, you just got to roll some dice and accept the game for what is is, or don't play it.

Eh, for me it depends a lot on the army. For something like Nurgle, or say Mawtribes sure they're pretty much fine. Could use some resin models replaced and there's things you could do with them but it's not a huge deal if they have to wait a bit.

So many of the "new" AoS armies though, just feel like budding flowers that might never bloom. So much unrealized potential, which makes getting left as a skeleton force for years and years that much more frustrating.

You can only do so much with books for these armies, also. Deepkin almost couldn't get a new battletome that's as good as the one they have now+BR. Sure some things might get shifted around slightly but it's probably not a huge upset, and if it is that might not be a good thing.

Armies like Fyreslayers and Ironjawz even more so. It almost doesn't matter what they do with them ruleswise. Fyreslayers went from Vulkites good, HGB Bad, to Vulkites Bad, HGB Good, resetting the clock to Vulkite spam isn't going to excite anyone. Ironjawz flip between leaning Ardboyz or Brutes depending on the edition but it makes zero real difference to how the army plays at the end of the day.

I think this is a case of lets agree to disagree my friend :)

I mean it's a trend yes, but that doesn't mean it's a good thing or can't be complained about. It's basically a figleaf towards pretending your army is getting any attention, because GW has figured out that it looks better if a new book comes out with at least "a" new model attached, and they've already basically run the whole endless spell/terrain thing into the ground.

Deepkin specifically aren't as bad off as many other AoS 1st edition armies, but still they basically didn't get anything for three years, and getting the model+book treatment now signals they very likely won't get anything for another three...six+ years is not a trivial amount of time for anyone with a normal human lifespan, really. Wargaming is its own niche and all, but sometimes I have to genuinely wonder how many people who buy an army when it comes out end up selling it off and quitting the hobby altogether before it ever gets a major update.

For Fyreslayers, again, they have one of the smallest rosters in the entire game, they were added in (IIRC) 2016, so after three years they got an oven and endless prayers, another three years wait for one no-effort hero and then what, hoping that after nine years and three editions, next time in 2025 maybe the hopes of Fyreslayer players won't be crushed?

Not really complaining about any army in particular here, these are just examples but I think it's worth remembering that the time-scales involved in this hobby are kinda insane when you take a step back, and that anyone's favorite army getting basically a pass-over for any given edition is a not-insignificant blow. Few people can say for certainty that they'll be around to see their army get updated, except for Space Marine/Stormcast players.

I didn't say people should or shouldn't complain :) I was just saying that it's probably to be expected.

I'm personally not fussed, an updated rulebook is exciting enough as you get to try new lists, new warscrolls, new synergies, etc. I'd rather they not add 5/6 different warscrolls to every book every time it gets updated. AoS is wide enough already, refining is what in it I'd prefer.

Don't really need anything. It's more a case of want. Because otherwise it's 3 to 4 years before you get to paint a new unit for your favourite army.

I would have been fine with getting a foot hero and book in 2nd ed, but kinda feels like we were ignored for an edition (for better or worse) and now are getting minimum effort.

I think this follows newest trend though. An update for a army comes normally with one new model and a book. Maggotkin had not received anything since their book (which was older then IDK) and got the same treatment. I feel like book updates with now follow this trend.

Can Nagash use Supreme lord ability to reroll the harvester roll?

I would say no, "If this unit is on the battlefield when you use an ability that returns slain models to a friendly Death unit, you can either re-roll the dice that determines the number of slain models returned to that unit or add 1 to the number of slain models that are returned to that unit" as the roll doesn't determine the number, the number is a fixed 1.

However you would get to return two mortek for everyone 4+ you roll.

Where is your qoute from? Is that the exact wording in the FAQ somewhere I missed?

It is not written in such way but things for example the Blades of Khorne book are now tied to Blades of Khorne keyword, not just Khorne. They have added Blades of Khorne key word to the whole book, so if you include a coalition unit it lacks the keyword now to gain the benefit of the books allegiance abilities. This is true of all four the chaos books.

  8. Nagash is certainly a lot worse in OBR now, no -1 rend, no bludgeon, no unstoppable advance, no self healing, no re-roll 1s of save or hits. I thin he will still be a lot of fun to push around, PoN is a great spell and mean with his own CA he will have a 4+ ward against everything which is good but there's no way he's not just straight up weaker then before inside OBR.

  9. How do you guys feel about the Seraphon changes?

20 points for a salamander and 15 point increase on Solar Engine Bastiladons doesn't feel too impactful? May lose unit a of skinks from a list but feels like still in a very strong place, especially when Nagash / Archaon taking some hits.

That's how I read it, but it's awkward.

I read it as no affect on healing.

Unfortunately, Nagash can no longer use invocation to heal himself at all.  Between that, losing save rerolls (across the entire army!), losing allegiance abilities (no petrifex bonus for nagash), he's much weaker than before.  Did his points come down at all?

    Edit: nevermind addressed in faq

Yeah no self healing is not something I picked up on, paired with no Heroic Recovery in combat, no -1 rend, certainly makes him more vulnerable to just being blown up / ground down

How are people reading the interaction between Supreme Lord of the Undead & Invocation of Nagash?

Does IoN increase the amount returned by SLotU.

Can I heal an extra wound, or only return an extra model?

If I have a unit of 5 Death Riders and 2 are dead, do I get turn 2?

  12. FAQ Is up, Nagash lost his CA to grant re-rolls 1 to hit and save rolls. He now has a new CA that picks unit and increases the ward save by one. He also has a rule that you can re-roll the dice on abilities that return slain models.

Unit of 30 Mortek, with reinforced battle shields, death magic incarnate, next to a harvester in PE has a 4+ save, ignoring rend 1, a 4+ ward save, and a 4+ to a return the slain model to the unit.

Love how motivated the OBR group is to make the faction work. I'm really looking forwards to a new Battletome or white dwarf update. I got hyped so I went all in. Ordered a Nagash, Katakros and I got my hands on an older Skeleton Horde start collecting which contains a mortarch, 10 old skeletons and 5 black skeleton riders/hexwraiths. Dunno what i'm going to do with those skeleton guys, but it was like 10 bucks more for the box compared to getting the mortarch seperately. I finished up Horrek's Dreadlance Box and i'm now Building my battleforce box(decided to go stalkers instead of Immortis Guard) together with a box of Morghasts(Will be Harbingers). I also ordered a Soulmason since I love that little guy as well. The Bone-Tithe Nexus and Spells keep eluding me(it keeps getting sold out constantly, but i'll get them eventually). @AaronWilson I do wonder, how do you feel 2 Crawlers work compared to having 1 crawler and a harvester? Obviously I got 1 of both in my battleforce box, but I do wonder if it's worth to get a second crawler.

One harvester is nice for a easy monstrous takeover, a roar to stop a key order and is quite killy. One of each would work, means you can endless duty your one crawler every turn as well.

Can someone explain how the wound allocation core rule interacts with the Harvester, getting myself a bit confused, do I have to allocate and roll for each guy one at a time while allocating the wounds or do I remove all guys at once and roll for them together?

Would appreciate if someone could explain the process for this, thanks!

Hey man! So the way I tend to do it is I do all my armour saves / ward saves in one go, and then I roll for as many models I have within 1" of a harvester, so say I have like 10 wounds remaining after saves, and 5 mortek within 1" of a havester, I'd roll all 5, and say I pass 3, I'd then roll two more as I'd have two models remaining within 1" of the harvester etc.

I like your list. It’s a nice defensive setup. 1 thing though. Katakros has the Warmaster ability. This opens you up to pick a second general and get the Mortis Praetorians Trait for them.

Yeah my buddy did point that out, the only thing is if I make another model my general I don't want to give up a easy slay the warlord battle trait
