What do you think makes them fall into the uncanny valley? I've seen a few people complain about the artwork, but see no issue myself.

The faces lack emotion and expression (or they have abnormal features). The poses are Stiff (Sylvaneth)

the humans and elves have strange fragile hands and or weapons.

  2. We‘re playing a narrative-matched play campaign in my club in which each game unlocks +1k points. (it‘s 3 Games, so 3k will be max)

currently my list ist the following:

    Allegiance: Anvilguard

    Warden King - General

    Sorceress

    10 Dreadspears

    10 Bleakswords

    20 Ironbreakers

    10 Irondrakes

    1 Scourge Runner Chariot

ES: Prismatic Pallidade (for trapping and Endless Advance-killing the enemy)

    990 points

the army will later on receive a hydra, Black guards, more battleline elves and Stormcasts.

currently I am not sure what is better to trap the enemy: Soulsnare Shackles or the Prismatic Pallisade.

Gosh, I don't know why you'd think I'm being pessimistic -- I'm only narrowly commenting on the summoning, and that was alongside comments suggesting that Bestigors are poised to become one of the best units in the game. You're absolutely right that the other bonuses range from relatively narrow to very good. Beastmen don't need summoning to be good, I think. I suspect that they will be at the very least tier 2 if not tier 1 competitive based only on the information we have now, and that's with the summoning being mediocre at best.

I have the same fear about Bestigors, especially if the whole army can still run and charge. ATM they seem absurdly good on paper if they haven‘tchanged the stats (hitting on 3s/2s, reroling  1s, 3 Attacks, super mobile, good save, battleline + herdstone)

    well we‘ll see

    -Battletome

    -Spells

    -7 new unit kits.

    -3 New Named Characters

    -4+ Hero units

and a big centrepiece (black coach)

And you ahve Nagash, the system is called Age of the Sigmar, and we have Nagash. Im just a jelous Chaos Undivided collector btw :D If Gw ever do an Abhorash, Ushoran or Wsoran I may just give in and have to pick up some undead.

As long as there was no new Blood Knights sculpt it wasn‘t  the year of death ?

20 models on 40mm bases is too big of a footprint. They seem really good until you get into a game and get double flanked and cant pile in.

Im falling out of love with Sequitors

10 Sequitors appear to be the Sweetspot concerning size. They‘ll pretty much kill anything because free Rerolls  ??‍♂️

I am still pretty sure that they should cost 140 points (anything is vulnerable to shooting btw)

GW has earned a lot of trust in their vision for "rawr over the top turn it up to 11" in the new AoS versions of World That Was armies.

It would just be a bummer if, with many clamoring for squigs, they warped the traditional look of squigs so much that they really don't capture the things that make squigs so appealing - a ball with teeth and a touch of humor.

I am nervous now, having seen the cave shaman and this ... whatever it is.

Well the new Soul Wars Box felt really mature so I hoped they‘d rather do Soul War-esque Designs ?

  7. There is a cool funny

    and

there is a childish funny suited for children’s cartoons.

this Troggoth is sadly the latter.

a mix of the Hobbit Goblin King and Stitch from Lilo & Stitch

Put the Keeper of Secrets up alongside this and you'd see they are similar too... It's a bull head.

A bullshead with the same carnivore teeth. It‘s 100% Beastmen related. (Chaos dwarf-bulls don‘t have carnivore teeth and they come with wings and armour which aren‘t even hinted here. The level of Face muscle detail is very lacking with Chaos Dwarfs compared to BH). I think the visual evidence is overwhelming.

I think one thing that is making some feel more pressured is how when GW made Sigmar one of the things they did was to take most of the Order armies and fracture them into 20 or so sub-groups. 5 or so armies became 20 and that worries people. It worries those into those armies because they fear if some will be lost; it worries those not into those armies because they see such a HUGE number of factions (honestly MORE than most other ranges can cope with) and they think "Oh gods it will take decades before I get an update to my Ork army!"

It's something I really wish GW would address and give us some long term prognosis on their plans. I know they dislike to do that; but I think it would settle a lot of fears, plus it could really help sales if we knew that the factions were safe.

I really hope that with the Malerion elves they‘ll do aLegions of Nagash Style Battletome which reunites. the 9 Dark Elf Subfactions

Doesn't anyone remember blood dragons? A whole clan of bretonean knights turned vampires and drinking drahonblood?!

They were Knights of the Empire and they were turned by Luthor Harkon, not by drinking dragon blood =~P

I am well aware of the latest whf lore and I even modeled a multi-Part kit myself.

For now, I think: No and No . I'd be really surprised. FEC is OK as it is and vampires have been covered by LoN. I think that we are done with death actually. But given what we've got this year, I (absolutely) won't complain. I'm super happy.

I‘d be happy if they finally replaced the fugly old Vampire Knights with a new plastic kit. (LONG OVERDUE)

Do you mean it shreds one unit of 20 models? Have you even done the math? Where on earth are you getting these numbers?

The ballista is effective for it's points, but it does not need a large price increase. The comparison to Judicators isn't genuine - you need to factor in the cost of battleline tag, more range, more wounds, and being 5 models vs 1 for the purpose of capturing/holding objectives.

    Simple math. ~ 11.xy  dmg  + battleshock ~ 20 models gone.

at 3 ballistas + Ordinator they deal  >50%  more damage than judicators vs a 4+ save.

this feels just like the Aethervoid discussion...

facts win not the gut feel.

same goes for Sequitors which are a medium to high tier elite unit with the price of a low-tier elite unit which can also be taken as battleline.

Another point to keep in mind: statistical results usually get to their average result across numerous values. Which means: the more dice you roll the more average it gets with usual spikes up and down.

It isn‘t that unlikely to see one ballista hit 3 shots with 13+ hits of which 10 will do dmg, by just one ballista.

ofc there is the other case - I failed to ever hit with mine 2 turns in a row, but whatever it‘s only 100 points so I‘ll buy 2 more. (Once you can even think like that you know it‘s too cheap for what it does, since there doesn‘t Seem to be a better option)

2 Ballistas with Ordinator (340 points) do 7.77 wounds Vs 4+ on average.

2 units of 5 Judicators (320 points) do 5.9 wounds on average.

So the slightly more expensive option is a bit stronger. But it has less range and it's not battleline.

I can't see how Celestar Ballistas deserve to be 40 points more in the light of these numbers.

The difference grows bigger once you take 3 ballistas.

plus the deepstriking removes the whole argument of „only 18“ range“

It doesn't single handedly win the game. Its (in this scenario) 4 free attacks on a less than 1% chance. Idoneth Deepkin get to attack with their entire army first on turn 3 and its gauranteed and fair.

If 30 Grimghasts make the 10+ charge (or even twice) it‘s over because of the Range and the number of attacks. Couple that with all of our auras and you get a nice charge phase which slaughters 2/3rds of the enemy.

And there are even more examples.

The balista usage is extremly restrictive and doesn't allow a versatility needed for all the scenarii. It is deadly when placed and the oponent is in range. After a charge, no more balista.

And that‘s Different with archers? Don‘t let them be charged. No unit offers all the versatility you need for all scenarios.

the ballistas Deal about 11 wounds to a 4+ save, while archers for the same cost do about 5. Additionally you can thunder/teleport your ballista Batterie where you need them.

srsly trying to talk this artillery down is nonsense. It‘s way undercostet, period.

  16. 21 minutes ago, DanielFM said:

It's better than them only within 18". It's also extremely swingy and unreliable (1d6 hits can be great or poor).

The Lord Ordinator is hugely overpriced and pays through the nose to make Ballistas better.

1D6 Hits per hit is Never poor, especially with rend -2. the 18“ are never an issue just screen them, lean back and keep oneshotting.

the lord ordinator is fine for the immense buff he provides for artillery heavy lists. He should be renamed into rallynator though.

the 40pts ‚overpricing‘ Split by 3 ballistas makes a ballista 113 pts which is still WAY too cheap. It‘s too much firepower for too few points.

using the ordinator on 3 ballistas would make each score 2 hits at 18“ which would result 3*7 = 21* 4/6 = 14 wounds at -2 so don‘t even try to defend this undercosting.
